Chapter 168 Shame
Forgetting all about arguing with Adele, the old man rushed upstairs in a flash, arriving before his granddaughter with a solemn expression and a serious tone:
"Adele, what happened in there? You didn't do anything to my cute little babies, did you?"
The thought of his granddaughter's wicked smile as she groped his beloved pets, which he had raised for years, filled Felix with a pang of heartache. He felt like a helpless husband, silently watching the girl...
Felix, who was immersed in his fantasy world, suddenly heard a loud noise coming from inside the room. He could no longer care about Adele who was outside the room. He gently pushed her aside and then his old hand immediately grabbed the doorknob.
Twist it hard.
With a "click," the doorknob that Ron had been unable to budge no matter how hard he tried immediately began to turn in the old man's aged hand.
Finally, the wooden door to the room was slowly pushed open, and the scene inside was immediately seen by the grandfather and grandson outside.
Thick black smoke swirled throughout the room, filling a vast garden, and countless flowers, plants, and trees seemed to have been wilted by the black smoke.
The most eye-catching figures were the two people, one in green and one in black, standing in the center of the room.
The tall, green tree-man slowly brought the boy in the black trench coat to a stop in mid-air. Beside him was a humanoid creature made of vines, which was frantically whipping the boy, who was hanging in the air, with its two tentacle-like vines.
The sound of slapping reached the ears of the grandfather and grandson outside the house.
Felix was instantly bewildered in the wind, while Adele, seeing this, burst into breathless laughter.
Ron, who was performing some kind of mysterious ritual, heard the noise outside.
His legs kicked wildly in the air, giving his body some room to maneuver.
The ropes, resembling tortoise shells, bound him to his body, rendering him immobile. He could only turn his head to look towards the doorway.
Then I saw Felix and Altaïr standing at the door, their gazes so strange and shameful.
Ron let out a silent wail, feeling utterly humiliated, especially in front of Adele. He was overwhelmed with shame.
"Ron...Ron, what...are you playing some weird game with Little Bell and the others? It looks so funny! Haha...haha~"
The girl laughed as she pointed at the vines on the boy's body, her gloating tone clear to Felix, who was standing nearby.
The old man quickly realized that this was a trick his granddaughter was playing on the boy. He glanced helplessly at the girl beside him, who was clutching her stomach and laughing without any regard for her image, his tone filled with exasperation:
"Adele, you tease him like this as soon as he comes up here, and even bring him to my garden. You know how much Little Bell and the others love to tease people."
"Grandfather, it's all because this guy always bullies me. I just wanted to teach him a little lesson. Will he dare to joke around with me again?"
The girl, who was already laughing heartily while clutching her stomach, became somewhat dissatisfied upon hearing her grandfather's words, which sounded like a reprimand.
She suppressed her smile, looked intently at Felix, and spoke with a tone full of pride and a touch of girlish innocence.
Ron, who was being tied to a tree and whipped repeatedly, naturally heard the conversation between the old man and the young girl outside. He realized that he had been tricked by Adele, and his face immediately darkened. Although he had known that the smile on the other party's face was obviously malicious, he never expected that the little girl would dig a pit for him here.
And yet, I foolishly jumped in.
A lifetime of illustrious reputation ruined in an instant!
Ron couldn't help but feel a deep sadness in his heart. As he felt the vines lashing against his body, his sorrow deepened even further.
The grandmother and grandson in front of me were both incredibly oblivious. Didn't they see that I was still being whipped by their pet? They were chatting with me instead of coming over to help me.
Although the cane didn't cause much harm, the humiliation was immense, especially since he was tied up in this strange way, which brought the boy's sense of shame to a climax.
Just as Ron was thinking about these things, Phoenix and Adele outside the house seemed to suddenly remember something and turned their gazes toward him.
Seeing his disheveled appearance, Hader couldn't help but burst into laughter again.
Felix, being an old man with a sharp mind, quickly chanted a spell, causing the tree-man and vine monster in front of him to lower Ron down from mid-air.
Despite feeling the solid ground beneath his feet, Ron felt no sense of relief.
All that remained was the shame of losing face and depression.
Felix seemed to sense his emotions, strolled into the room, gently patted his shoulder, and then, in a tone of someone with experience, advised the boy:
"Kid, you've learned your lesson today. Don't bully my Dale again. If I find out, no matter where you run off to, I'll bring you back and hang you in the air to beat you again."
Ron had expected the other person to say something like "sorry" or "excuse me," but what they said left him speechless.
Is it possible that people who aren't family can't enter the same door?
It was bad enough that he was tricked by the other party's granddaughter, but he didn't expect the old man to be so protective of his own. He told him not to bully her. Didn't he see that he was the one who was bullied just now? His clothes were almost torn to shreds.
However, he also knew that this was not the time to talk about these things. Circumstances were beyond his control, and when you're under someone's roof, you have no choice but to bow your head.
Ron nodded hesitantly, and in the instant he looked down, he glanced at Adele, who had followed him in. His gaze made the girl feel a chill run down her spine.
"Grandfather, Ron scolded me."
"Um?"
Ron looked up and stared at Felix, who was standing in front of him. Then he saw the boy give an embarrassed smile, his face showing the immaturity of a young man.
"It's alright. If this were our house, and this kid dared to bully you, you could tell Grandpa, and I'd have Xiaolingdang and the others hang him up and whip him."
"whee."
Adele, hiding behind Felix, gently covered her mouth, as if recalling the scene from earlier, and couldn't help but blink her bright, lively eyes at Ron.
