Chapter 160 Appearance
After weighing the pros and cons in his mind for a long time, Augustus finally chose the option that was most beneficial to him.
Turning to look at Ron, who was staring at him, his expression remained unchanged. He merely glanced at Ron with his dark eyes before speaking in a calm tone:
"Ron, if you don't have anything else to do, please come with us. I'd like to understand the whole story. After all, this is a huge provocation against the academy's rules. If we don't minimize the impact of this incident, who knows what other unexpected things might happen later."
Ron's heart sank upon hearing the other party's words; this was an attempt to appease them.
After all, if he really wanted to investigate, he didn't believe that a formal wizard-level being would be without any way to find the real culprit by following the aura of the person he had just fought.
They want to take me back now, they're just trying to buy time.
As for other things like torture and forced confessions, he didn't think about it. After all, he was the vice dean's prospective disciple. These guys wouldn't be so clueless, or rather, they wouldn't have the guts to directly attack him.
Seeing the assembled wizards, he knew that this matter was likely to end inconclusively. Given the circumstances, he was powerless to do anything about it.
We can't very well let a mere wizard apprentice rebel against the professional wizards present, can we?
Although he and the high-ranking wizard apprentice had fought to a standstill, only he knew the extent of his injuries and those of his opponent.
Not to mention those who are formal wizards, Ron knew in his heart just how big the gap was between the two.
Anxious, he stopped resisting, nodded, and prepared to leave with the other party. Just then, an old and ethereal voice rang in everyone's ears.
Upon hearing this sound, Augustus and the others were initially taken aback, followed by some regret, while Ron was both surprised and took it for granted:
"Augustus, where are you youngsters taking my student? Isn't it a bit inappropriate to not talk to an old man like me about this? Or have you youngsters grown too big for your britches and no longer respect this old man?"
Three sentences, three questions.
The other person's tone was equally indifferent, as if it were devoid of any personal emotion, merely like a casual greeting between neighbors. But only those who knew that person's character knew just how deep the anger was hidden beneath that calm tone.
When Augustus heard the other party questioning him, cold sweat instantly slid down his forehead. He hadn't expected that Ron, a mere wizard apprentice who had only been practicing for two months, could have that great man personally vouch for him. Had he known this earlier, he would never have made such a hasty judgment. He would have at least put on a show and smoothed things over, so as not to offend either side.
Unfortunately, there's no going back in life.
It's too late for him to regret it now; he can only try his best to make up for his mistake.
"Lord Latour, I'm so sorry."
I forgot this little guy is your student. Something so serious just happened, my mind was a mess and I didn't pay attention. I was anxious to understand what happened, which is why I wanted to take Ron back to discuss this matter and related issues in detail.
Although his words were not very credible.
After all, how could a formal wizard forget something so important? And how could he let such a trivial matter disturb his peace of mind?
However, sometimes things are not just about appearances, and the process is not that important. As long as the result achieves the desired goal, that is enough.
Everyone present was in the same boat; they wanted to gloss over the matter. Latour didn't want to get entangled in it either. He was only there because Ron was his student and there were many things about the boy that interested him. The research wasn't over yet, that was all.
If there was nothing about Ron that interested him, he naturally wouldn't have wasted so much time dealing with such a trivial matter.
Seeing that Augustus had realized his mistake and given him a reasonable explanation.
He didn't want to dwell on the matter any longer, and his booming voice seemed to come from nowhere, resonating deep within the hearts of everyone present:
"Ron, you see, Augustus has realized his mistake. Let's leave it at that for today. You don't need to deal with the aftermath; let these guys handle it. They made a mistake today anyway, so consider it their punishment."
Ron nodded to indicate that he agreed to the other party's solution.
Even if he disagreed, there was nothing he could do. After all, the vice dean had already saved face for him, so what else was there to say?
Ask the other party to help you find out who's behind this?
On what grounds? Just because you're the other person's student who hasn't officially started dating yet? Or because you possess something the other person is interested in? Or perhaps just some simple teacher-student relationship?
It is obvious that there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world. She clearly understands this and firmly believes it. Since the other party has helped her, what more could she ask for?
Knowing when to stop is the wisdom a true wizard should possess.
Seeing the boy so sensible, lying in the Crimson Tower reviewing experimental data, Latour nodded in satisfaction. The other formal wizards present also relaxed, letting out a sigh of relief, and turned their gazes to the boy standing in the center of the room, inwardly sighing:
"Clever kid~"
Even Augustus, who had been expressionless just moments before, couldn't help but show a look of relief, and then looked at Ron with a hint of admiration, his tone no longer as cold as before:
"Ron, thank you very much for your understanding and support of our work."
Listening to the other person's words, Ron knew that this gentleman's change in attitude was due to the vice dean and teacher behind him. Naturally, he wouldn't put on airs. His expression remained gentle, with a faint smile on his face, and he replied in a calm tone:
"It's my duty, Mr. Augustus. If there's nothing else here, I'll head back now."
