Chapter 53 Trying to Change

Linor was laughing maniacally.

She wanted to see Celia's angry expression, the disappointment in her eyes, and her turn away in anger!

Any one of them could bring Linor great satisfaction.

Kerseria stood quietly by the bed, without saying a word.

There was no hatred or anger in her eyes.

The expected scene did not appear, and Linor's smile froze.

"You're actually reacting at least a little!"

Linor's hands, which were supporting her on the edge of the bed, were trembling, and the blood from the bandages had seeped in even more.

Celia's eyes dimmed slightly.

She remembered the time when she went to the slave market with her master and the scene where Linor was treated roughly.

At that time, I had a very despicable thought in my mind.

Fortunately, it was Linor who was treated this way, not herself.

Celia kept this secret to herself, never even telling her master.

She was afraid that her master would hate her if he found out.

It's not surprising that she would have such thoughts, and that Linor would have similar thoughts.

"I don't hate you, I don't think you're despicable, and I don't regret saving you."

Celia finally spoke.

Linor was completely stunned.

"If I hadn't met my master, if I had experienced the same pain as you, and seen you living such a happy life, I might... have gone mad with jealousy just like you."

"I also had despicable thoughts, thankful that I wasn't treated roughly, thankful that I didn't end up in the slave market, thankful that it was you and not me."

Celia faced her own heart, and even though she worried that her master would hate her for these words, she still had to speak.

"Stop pretending!"

Linor hated this person from the bottom of her heart and yelled at him.

She found these words nauseating, more unbearable than the pain of her wounds.

Linor would rather Celia call her a slut and humiliate her with the most offensive words.

Even rushing up to her and slapping her a few times would be a million times better than treating her with understanding and tolerance like this!

This posture resembled condescending pity, making her previous actions seem ridiculously clownish.

"I don't need your understanding, much less your pity!"

"I'd rather you hated me, at least then I could... feel a little better."

Linor gritted her teeth, cold sweat mingling with tears streaming down her face.

"But you've escaped now, Levins is dead, you don't have to go back to that hell."

Celia didn't know if Linor was willing, but she still said, "You can become your master's slave and live a happy life."

This statement was like lighting a powder keg.

Linor's emotions exploded.

"To be with you? To let me see you so happy every day? I'd rather die than be a slave to the same master as you!"

She couldn't accept the thought of living with Celia.

This feeling is worse than killing Linor.

I will hate you for the rest of my life!

Celia didn't understand.

She did have some despicable thoughts, but now she genuinely cares about Linor.

She was willing to share with Linor what she considered her greatest treasures—her master's tenderness, her happy life, and the peace of being cherished.

Cleopatra, however, refused.

Celia wanted to say something, but didn't know how.

It seems that whatever Linor says is wrong.

Just then, a hand gently pressed down on Celia's shoulder.

Luo An walked up behind her.

"Celia, you and Elena go out first."

Celia looked up at her master, hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement and walked out the door with Elena.

The door was gently closed.

Linor looked at Roan with a defiant gaze.

"Don't even try to persuade me. I'd rather die than become your slave."

Luo An sat on the edge of the bed.

If he wanted to, what right would Linor have to resist?

"You're overthinking it. I have no intention of making you my slave, nor am I interested in trying to persuade you."

Linor was taken aback, not expecting him to say something like that.

Many of the preparations made are no longer needed.

"It's normal for people to be jealous of each other."

Luo An had seen everything that had just happened.

"Especially when two people who were originally in the same situation suddenly find that one of them is living a good life while the other is still struggling in the mire."

"Anyone would be tempted to think, 'Why? Why that person and not me?'"

He looked at Linor; her obsession ran too deep.

"It's not impossible for this kind of mentality to develop to your level."

Linor bit her lower lip.

She didn't want to admit it, but every word Luo An said hit the spot in her heart that she least wanted to look at.

You've got one thing wrong.

"Celia is doing well, it's not her fault, she's just luckier, while you're unlucky."

"You vent all your hatred on Celia because you can't change your own fate, so you can only blame everything on a victim like yourself."

Luo An was fortunate to have the "Interspecies Handbook" after his transmigration; otherwise, his situation probably wouldn't have been much better.

"What you should really hate is this world that treats slaves like livestock and people like humans, the slave owners who trample on your dignity, and that beast Levins, not Celia who escaped from hell just like you."

Linor gripped the sheets tightly, her breathing becoming rapid.

This sentence broke through her fragile psychological defenses.

She hates Celia, not only because she doesn't dare to hate those who truly hurt her.

Because those people were so powerful that she didn't even have the courage to hate them.

To hate them means to admit that you are just a lowly slave who can do nothing.

"You haven't experienced inhuman torture, you can't understand my pain!"

"Do you know what it feels like to be treated worse than a pig or a dog?!"

Linor attempted to resist with her last bit of stubbornness.

"I have no idea."

Luo An spoke frankly, without trying to understand or sympathize.

"I haven't experienced what you've been through, so I can't say 'I understand you'."

I was simply stating a fact.

Linor was a little confused about the person in front of her.

"So what do you want to tell me?"

Seeing that she had calmed down a bit, Luo An said, "If you really hate this world, then try to make it the way you want it to be."

Luo An believes that it is unrealistic to completely change the world.

However, starting from oneself, it is still possible to gradually influence those around him and build the "kingdom" he desires.

In this "nation", all races can live with dignity.

Luo An knew there would be a long road ahead, but he would turn this dream into reality step by step.

"Of course, if you disagree, you can continue to hate Celia and hate this world."

"Whether you hate Celia, who was also a slave, or try to do something else, it's your freedom to decide what to do."

Luo An gave her a choice.

You have to walk your own path, and every path offers a different view.

"Once your injuries have healed a little, we'll go wherever you want to go."

Luo An got up, turned around and walked out of the room.

The room was completely silent.

Linor gazed at the scenery outside the window, remaining silent for a long time.

She hates this world, but does she really have the power to change it?

Linor didn't know.

After a long while, she buried her head in the sheets.

She muttered something very quietly.

"Easy for you to say. What can a slave do anyway..."
