Dark Eldar

7. Different species

"In those long, lonely, and helpless years, I gradually discovered that what people lost was their hearts, not their souls..." — Loki

Before Loki could completely break free of his restraints, Dark Knight vanished into thin air.

Loki didn't care about the small portion of his memory he had lost. He knew that if he wasn't bound by dark magic, his memories would gradually fade away. Those memories contained happiness, suffering, confusion, and... anxiety...

"The reason Dark Magic can imprison mortals is because mortals have attachments; they are adept at exploiting the weaknesses or flaws of ordinary beings to craft spells. Foolishly, they progress too slowly, never able to keep up with the Saints," Loki muttered to himself, perhaps a little underestimating his opponent. But it was precisely this that made Loki so full of boundless energy; otherwise, he would be no different from Edward III and other otherworldly sorcerers.

At this moment, the sky over the Yundar Grassland is bright. A long day and night have come to an end.

"Dinner's ready! Young man," the farmer, Old Demar, called from the west wing.

"Okay. Coming right away!" Loki was exhausted from the fierce battle that night. But out of politeness, he got up anyway.

Bread, milk, and eggs. Loki had a good appetite and wolfed down a lot of food.

"This is my daughter, her name is Elaine," Demar formally introduced at the dinner table.

"Hello, Elaine! I'm Loki."

Across from her, Elaine smiled shyly. She had fair skin, shoulder-length golden hair, and an air of ladylike elegance; she was of typical European descent.

After Loki finished his breakfast, he knew it was time for him to leave.

It's not appropriate to constantly bother others.

So Loki gave Demar the last piece of "fine pure copper" in his backpack, which was the only valuable item he could currently offer.

Demacia looked at Loki and politely declined, saying, "Young man! I might need your help again in the future! How about we return the favor?"

"Yes, definitely!" Loki promised.

On the edge of the vast, boundless pasture, sheep graze peacefully, while the shepherd, Elaine, gazes at them with tender affection.

She watched Loki leave, and Loki waved to her in a friendly manner.

Turning around, Loki tightened his grip on his backpack, steeled his resolve, and strode off with his head down. He knew perfectly well: "Despite my past glory, in this barren land of Yundar, this is a fresh start! Money? Penny-pinching. Besides a forging hammer, that's all..."

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west; a new day is drawing to a close.

Loki walked for a whole day. He didn't find anything. Except for a few pebbles that seemed to contain "arcane energy," which he collected.

"Where will I sleep tonight? That is the question!" Loki looked up at the sky.

"Returning to Demar Farm is not realistic."

Under a large tree, Loki took off his shoes. He first threw his backpack up, then used his dagger to forcefully stab the trunk, relying on his arm strength to climb up.

At night, a cool breeze blows across the Yundar Grassland. Occasionally, birds of prey appear!

They had a keen sense of smell, spotted Loki in the tree, circled for a while, and then all flew away. Some animals like to howl!

"Thank goodness I didn't evolve into a werewolf!" Loki complained, covering his ears, making it hard for him to sleep.

After the animals left, a creature appeared at night—the "Alien Species"!

These creatures roam the night in Yundar. They drift with the wind, spewing blood-green magical energy from their mouths. The surrounding beasts, being of too low a level, generally cannot detect them. At most, they can sense an ominous aura. These alien species feed on "magic crystals."

Even the experienced Loki couldn't understand why there were so many "monsters" at night in Yundar.

"Alien species" appear randomly and occasionally in other worlds, making them extremely rare. The same applies to other worlds.

"?" A thought popped into Loki's mind.

Actually, he had long wanted to kill a "monster"! Besides the inherent danger, the main reason was that Grand Master Sun Yun wouldn't allow it. He was kind-hearted and often taught Loki, "Magical beings are extremely rare! After all, it's a life; we should save it for crucial moments!"

"Now I'm far away, haha! Nobody bothers me anymore. Let's see what treasures I can get?"

Loki thought this way, but still found it difficult to make a move.

Under the bright moonlight of the Yundar Grassland, swarms of "alien creatures" stretched out in a dark, overwhelming mass. They possessed an innate ability to "backlash," and their sheer numbers made Loki, perched in the tree, "tremble with fear."
