Dark Eldar

107. Both surprised and delighted.

"A dark world is about to descend, and light will surely follow. But many will lack the patience; they will not wait, and will be devoured by the forces of darkness, becoming eternal slaves to the demons..." —Otherworldly Rules 176.4

"Mana, poor child... Awaken, I am calling you, please wake up..." Beside the giant corpse worm stood a masked man, chanting a spell.

He didn't seem like an assassin. In this other world, only assassins and thieves typically wear masks. Even bounty hunters (assassination and murderers) are open and aboveboard, never needing to "hide." They believe in "the power of money" and that "taking another's life for money is an honor for the deceased." (A fringe profession; "hiring a killer" is "guilty").

After waiting for a long time, the masked man's calls went unanswered. Was Mana truly dead? All his loot had already been collected; logically, he shouldn't be able to resurrect.

"¥……%" (Zerg language) the masked man said, pointing to the ground.

Upon receiving the command, the golden worm immediately burrowed into the mound of earth, swallowed Mana whole, then burrowed back into the ground and regurgitated him. A viscous liquid clung to Mana. Mana, dressed in coarse cloth, lay stiffly. Had he foreseen this "resurrection"?

"Mana, poor child... Wake up..." The incantation was repeated again.

"Cough! Cough! This is so uncomfortable! Why did you take so long to come? I'm about to suffocate. Oh! It's all slime, Corpse Worm, couldn't you have dug it out properly for me?"

Mana did indeed wake up, and he grumbled. The relationship between the giant insect and Mana, as well as the identity of the spellcaster, the masked man, are still unclear. No one dares to draw any conclusions.

"Sorry, Mana. My casting range isn't far enough to reach you. Who buried you so deep?" the mysterious masked man teased.

After being resurrected, Mana went alone to a nearby stream to cleanse herself. The giant insects and the mysterious masked figure had disappeared sometime earlier. (There was no farewell.)

Their "relationship" was merely like "resurrection and being resurrected".

The stream outside Gurudin was crystal clear. After bathing, Mana lit a fire to dry his clothes; he was now penniless, except for the cloth robes he wore and the boots he was wearing. The killer had been somewhat "merciful," leaving Mana a decent set of white clothes.

Inside Gludin Castle, after inspecting all the tasks, Ludal felt uneasy. (All professions after level 50 often possess a certain degree of "sensory perception," which the ancients called "sixth sense.")

"Barbarian King, you should join the party for the mission later. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that Centaur is still alive," Luddar said worriedly.

"Slayer! You can't even use your own skills properly anymore?" The Barbarian King reprimanded the Slayer sternly. Although they were close in level and recruited together, the Slayer still feared the rare elite Barbarian King. Especially since the Barbarian King became "crippled," he had become very different...

"Alright, it's not the killer's fault. I was there too. The killer even dealt high damage. The killer's luck and skills are fine (RP). I've also confirmed that Mana is indeed dead. She even dropped items!" Ludar defended the killer. He was also trying to clarify his thoughts. More often than not, as a minor leader, Ludar sometimes tried to calm down the conflicting emotions among the group.

"Let's go! The three of us are enough. Sending too many people will only arouse suspicion from Lord Dark," Ludar instructed.

Arriving at Mana's "cemetery," Ludar was both surprised and delighted by the raised mounds of earth.
