Chapter 17 Bloodbath at Golden River Valley

The poor hundred knights of the North, the elite of the elite of White Deer Fortress, encountered their greatest "nemesis" in this battle... They were all wiped out in the Golden River Valley.

The ferocious raiders quickly broke through the heavy ranks of knights, running headlong into thousands of knights and their lancers.

Just as the soldiers, now without the protection of the heavy knights, were feeling lost and helpless, they heard shouts of battle coming from all directions. Centaurs and human cavalrymen were galloping across the mountains and plains, along with ogres as numerous as small hills.

Thanks to the "good leader" of the Northern Knights, they also slipped smoothly into Luke's encirclement...

Ogres roared, centaurs charged, and the entire valley was like a living hell.

The knight's squire was surrounded by centaur rangers, layer upon layer, as if trapped in an impenetrable net, with no way to escape...

Arrows flew like locusts, and swords flashed like crescent moons. High elves were constantly thrown from their horses and trampled into mincemeat.

Meanwhile, facing the towering wall of ogre hunters, the peasant spearmen behind them formed a dense battle formation, attempting to break through the encirclement... however, their legs still trembled involuntarily.

The ogres are thick-skinned and tough; at most, an ordinary person's spear can only cause them some scratches.

Amin roared in pain and swung his rough, large hand, sending several infantrymen flying into the air with cries of alarm before crashing heavily to the ground, their bones broken...

The spearmen's formation was thrown into chaos instantly, and the ogre hunters poured into the breach, unleashing a one-sided massacre.

Someone let out a scream, triggering a "herd effect," and the spearmen behind, unwilling to die, dropped their weapons and began to flee...

These soldiers were already of low quality, and after their mental defenses collapsed, they lost all fighting spirit, which quickly led to a massive rout within the army.

Seeing this, Amin didn't hold back and led his men on a triumphant advance, beheading hundreds of enemies!

The war ended quickly.

Inside and outside the valley, there were mountains of corpses and seas of blood, with countless bodies strewn about.

This battle not only gave Luke confidence, but also gave free men like Rogue a shot in the arm: it turns out that the High Elves are not invincible!

Centaurs and ogres began cleaning up the battlefield and looting the spoils... The high elves were either dead or had fled, but they captured nearly two thousand human spearmen.

Standing on the high slope, Luke shouted to the prisoners of war, "Gentlemen, we are of the same kind, but we were instigated by the High Elves and forced to kill each other on the battlefield."

Anyone among you who wants to go home can lay down their armor and leave now; I, Luke, will not make things difficult for you.

However, anyone who no longer wishes to suffer the oppression of the High Elves can come with me... I will treat you as my brothers!

After a rustling sound, several soldiers got up and left with trepidation.

Seeing that no one stopped them, a large number of prisoners of war left in droves... In the end, only about a thousand remained, expressing their willingness to follow Luke.

After this battle, Luke realized that instead of hiding his whereabouts and fearing discovery by the enemy, he should openly tell the world that in the northern wilderness, there is a "holy land" that refuses to be enslaved.

Only by constantly attracting those humans who yearn for freedom and rebel against the spirits to join our base can the revolutionary forces truly grow and expand!

After taking in these prisoners of war, Attila brought a group of men bound hand and foot before Luke.

Luke was taken aback: "Who is this?"

Attila swept his cold gaze over the man, who immediately obediently confessed:

"I am a slave rider of the Bloodhoof Clan. Ordered by my chieftain to guide Baron Forth of the High Elves in the annihilation of your wooden fortress… My lord, spare my life!"

Attila muttered angrily from the side, "It's that bastard Pique again... If we don't get rid of him, he'll be a menace sooner or later!"

Luke frowned and pondered, "You're talking about Baron Forth, the commander of this force? Where is he now?"

"Well... I got separated from him on the battlefield, and I don't know..."

Luke immediately ordered a search of the entire valley, determined to find the man!

A moment later, they heard Amin shout from not far away:

"Master...I've found Fox!"

------

Soon, Luke returned in triumph with his monster army. The crowd cheered and welcomed the "hero" who had defeated the enemy back to the wooden fortress.

Amin and the other cannibals distributed their spoils to the villagers, and everyone's face beamed with happiness.

Messiah saw that there were many elven ornaments and clothing among them, and knew that they were probably taken from the dead... He was both happy and worried.

"Messiah, I have something to ask you."

Luke walked over slowly, his face devoid of any emotion.

Messiah was somewhat puzzled and hesitated before asking, "What is it?"

"The elven army is led by a baron named Forth... do you know him?"

Messiah was startled, and a sense of unease rose in his heart.

Seeing her nod, Luke's expression darkened, and he had someone hand her a bloodstained military police uniform.

"On the battlefield, swords and spears have no eyes. Although he was an enemy, he was very brave in his dying moments..."

A surge of inexplicable grief rushed to his brain. Messiah's fingers trembled as he took the military uniform, then collapsed to his knees, tears streaming down his face.

"It was me, I killed him! If he hadn't tried to save me, he wouldn't have..."

Towards the end, he broke down in tears.

Luke silently watched the heartbroken man before him, wanting to step forward and comfort him, but then felt he had no right to do so…

"You can leave now..." he finally uttered.

Messiah abruptly raised her head, tears still wet on her face: "What did you say?"

Luke said calmly, "Before this battle, didn't you just ask me to leave? Now, I agree."

You can leave anytime; Bill will take you back to White Hart Castle.

"But...why?"

Luke didn't answer her, and turned away without looking back.

She just sighed inwardly: Maybe... she just doesn't want to see anyone else die for her.

Humans and the High Elves will eventually clash, and I hope that when that time comes, you and I will not become enemies.

"My lord, though I really don't want to bother you at this time..." Attila, who had witnessed everything, approached him cautiously and said, "But the Bloodhoof tribe betraying our information to the elves must not be tolerated!"

Luke's gaze sharpened: "What do you think we should do?"

Attila said decisively, "There is no other way but war!"

First, if Bloodhoof manages to escape unscathed after betraying us, we will be unable to establish our authority among the centaur tribes in the future.

Secondly, news of Foss's defeat will soon spread throughout the plains. In the future, Pique will fear retaliation from us and will inevitably seek an opportunity to strike first... Rather than being passively attacked, it's better to take the initiative.

Third, if we want to continue expanding our territory and conquering the centaur tribes, we must cross the Great Swamp and continue westward; and the Bloodhoof tribe is the first hurdle we must overcome!

Luke nodded in agreement: "You make a good point. Bloodhoof must be eliminated... However, we have just gone through a great battle. If we can outsmart him rather than fight him head-on, that would be ideal."

At that moment, a glint of shrewdness flashed in Attila's eyes: "I have a plan."

After saying that, he whispered something to Luke.

Luke couldn't help but chuckle and punched him lightly: "You've come up with such a dirty trick, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try..."
