Yan Jin rarely saw so many students in the classroom during her second year of compulsory spiritual arts class.

At Yujiang University, each course and each class has only about twenty students.

Yan Jin roughly estimated that there were at least seventy or eighty students in the classroom.

All the seats were occupied. Students who couldn't find seats either stood at the back of the classroom or sat in the aisle of the lecture hall.

These are just the students who managed to squeeze into the classroom; who knows how many more students are outside, peering through the windows.

The compulsory course on spiritual arts is going to be canceled. Are the students going to give the compulsory course on spiritual arts a grand funeral?

Yan Jin didn't think she had put in much effort during class, so the students probably didn't have that much of a connection to the spiritual arts class.

She walked onto the podium, gathering her emotions, when the students' discussion reached her ears.

"Wasn't Teacher Bai supposed to be a male teacher? Who is this person on stage?"

"The compulsory spiritual arts course is about to be changed to an elective, so it won't be easy to attend Teacher Bai's class in the future. I have a lot of questions about spiritual arts that I want to ask."

Bai Miao! What exactly did you do to my students?

Yan Jin took a deep breath, and the immense spiritual pressure belonging to a peak second-tier card master enveloped the entire classroom.

The students quieted down; no one was thinking of doing anything rash or angering the teacher.

"I know that students have a deep affection for the spiritual arts class. I am Yan Jin, the teacher of the second year compulsory spiritual arts class 2."

Today is the first and last time I will see you all in this classroom.

Some students may have already heard that our spiritual arts class will be changed from a required course to an elective course.

Registration for elective courses will open next week. Students interested in spiritual arts can register for the corresponding elective courses.

After speaking, Yan Jin stepped down from the podium, activated the card [Shadow Stealth], and disappeared into the shadows before everyone's eyes.

She was going to ask Bai Miao what exactly he had taught that had the students so crazy.

A series of mournful cries erupted from the students.

"I skipped the mandatory combat class to attend this lesson, and now I'm doomed. I'm stuck with neither side. I'll get extra training from the combat teacher when I get back, and I didn't even get to attend the spirit magic class!"

"Professor Bai is a teaching assistant. It seems there's no precedent at the school for a teaching assistant teaching a course independently. Does this mean we'll never be able to take Professor Bai's classes again?"

Many students who had attended Bai Miao's classes benefited greatly from his recounting experiences, and teachers who came specifically to attend his classes inquired about Bai Miao from each other.

Yan Jin, who hurriedly fled from the classroom, eagerly dialed Bai Miao's number.

Bai Miao's lazy voice came from the other end of the phone, clearly indicating that he had just woken up.

"Hello, who is this?"

"It's me!"

It's rare that I don't have classes, and the Secret Service doesn't have any missions either.

It was drizzling in Yujiang City; the air was damp and chilly, and the rain pattered softly.

With the right timing, location, and people, it's the perfect time to sleep in.

Upon hearing that it was Yan Jin, Bai Miao stretched and yawned, saying:

"What's wrong, Sister Yan Jin? Why are you calling me on such a nice day instead of sleeping?"

"What did you teach me when you substituted for me?" Yan Jin asked.

"What did I teach... Let me think," Bai Miao recalled his class, then hesitated, "I taught Spiritual Arts One."

"You only teach one spiritual technique, and the class is packed with students eagerly awaiting your arrival?"

"Yes, just the first spirit technique. I taught them how to control their spiritual energy to activate the first spirit technique. I haven't had time to teach them the other things, such as how to use the first spirit technique without hand gestures, how to change the shape of the missile condensed by the first spirit technique, how to charge up the power, how to use the first spirit technique while moving, and the variations of the first spirit technique."

"..."

Upon hearing Bai Miao's words, Yan Jin fell silent. In a large family, each of what Bai Miao said would be a closely guarded secret.

In his mouth, it's like cabbage; he teaches and gives it to people casually.

She almost forgot that Bai Miao knew all this, but he figured it all out on his own, and naturally no one told him to keep it a secret.

The Bai family, though a nouveau riche, lacks a solid foundation. The Jiang family, though a prestigious family, focuses on combining martial arts with card games, and their research into spiritual arts is not in-depth.

The Yan family is a legitimate family of spiritual practitioners, and Yan Jin never expected that Bai Miao would impart all of his knowledge of this essential skill to the family.

Because of the relationship between the Yan and Bai families, and between Yan Jin and Bai Miao, Yan Jin dared not reveal any of her family's secret techniques to Bai Miao.

Yan Jin's silence made Bai Miao realize something was amiss. "Did I teach you something you shouldn't have? And now you can't hide it anymore?"

That shouldn't be the case. Bai Miao felt that he had only taught the correct use of the first spiritual technique, nothing too profound.

"It's not that I can't handle it," Yan Jin said carefully. "Don't go around teaching your spiritual techniques. Just teaching how to use them correctly is fine, but if you really teach some advanced methods, even my father won't be able to protect you."

On the surface, Yujiang City is managed by the Command Office, with the Special Operations Bureau handling psionic incidents and the military responsible for security.

In fact, the various family forces, large and small, that exist in Yujiang City are not to be underestimated.

These families range from powerful ones, including the families of Yu Jiangcheng's past supreme commanders, to less powerful ones, which have produced a few third-tier card masters.

"Wait, my dad is calling. I want to hear what he has to say. Don't hang up."

Yan Jin's father, Yan Zhengming, the highest commander of Yujiang City, was a figure from the same generation as Bai Miao's grandfather.

Card masters live much longer than ordinary people, not to mention that Yan Zhengming is the only card master in Yujiang City who has reached the fourth rank.

So even though Yan Zhengming was old enough to be Bai Miao's grandfather, his second daughter, Yan Jin, was only five years older than Bai Miao.

Yan Jin's voice quickly returned on the phone. Yan Jin hesitated and said:

"Somehow this got to the ears of the principal and my dad, and they asked you to offer a spiritual arts elective course at the school."

Worried that Bai Miao might misunderstand, Yan Jin hurriedly added:

"I will also choose a spiritual art to offer as an elective course, one that includes advanced techniques."

"Sister Yan Jin, you should understand what Commander Yan and the principal mean, right?"

Bai Miao keenly sensed that this was not as simple as just starting a class.

Yan Jin remained silent again. After a long while, she finally spoke:

"If you don't want to—"

"Of course I'm willing to comply with the school's and command's requests, but Sister Yan Jin, you absolutely have to protect me, this is a matter of life and death."

Bai Miao's normal tone made Yan Jin breathe a sigh of relief.

Torn between her father's demands and the safety of her close friend, she found herself caught in the middle, unable to reconcile the two.

"Of course," Yan Jin solemnly promised.

After hanging up the phone, the room was dark, and the rain that had been falling all day left streaks of water on the windows.

Through a small gap in the curtains, Bai Miao looked up at the gloomy sky.

The political landscape of Yujiang City is about to change; the command center is going to target the major and minor powerful families in Yujiang City.

The first step is to teach the family's treasured spiritual techniques at the university.

The city of Yujiang will be anything but peaceful from now on.

This purge will not affect the Bai family, because the Bai family has always been Yan Zhengming's henchmen and is not among the aristocratic families.

Most of the Jiang family members hold positions in the three departments (Command Office, Special Operations Bureau, and the military), and they are no longer considered a prominent family.

Yan Zhengming rose to power in the military and later became the highest commander in Yujiang City, taking over the command office.

The Bai family were Yan Zhengming's left-hand men in the military, while Zuo Changqing, the head of the Special Operations Bureau, was Yan Zhengming's mentor. With him in charge, the Special Operations Bureau was Yan Zhengming's right-hand man.

Given the relationship between the Bai and Yan families, Bai Miao would not and could not refuse the request of Supreme Commander Yan.
