Tokyo: I'm really not a killer

Chapter 18 Left and Right Brain Interaction

The team members opened fire on the unfinished building, bullets crackling and popping against the concrete walls and exposed steel bars, sending up sparks and debris.

The unfinished building was completely dark, with only car headlights barely illuminating the outline of the load-bearing columns, making it impossible to see the gunman's figure.

Most of the bullets hit empty air or were blocked by the complex terrain and abandoned building materials, making them completely inaccurate.

Meanwhile, taking advantage of the chaos as the residents scattered and fled, Yuan Zhensheng had already sneaked into the shadow of an abandoned factory on slightly higher ground opposite the unfinished building.

He crouched low, hoisted his M2 rifle, adjusted the fire selector, rested the muzzle on a broken concrete pipe, and quietly aimed.

In the distance, the members of the mountain construction team had to turn on their headlights and frequently use flashlights in order to find and suppress the target, which inadvertently exposed them to the light.

Yuan Zhensheng squinted, adjusting to the contrast between light and dark.

He held his breath, his finger firmly on the trigger.

To get a better shooting angle, Ruozhong risked leaning most of his body out from behind a car, shining his flashlight through the second-floor windows. Just as the flashlight beam swept across the window, and his silhouette was clearly illuminated by the car headlights—

—Thump!

With a loud bang, Yuan Zhensheng pulled the trigger.

Echoes reverberated from the unfinished building, the gunshots sounding like explosions. Bullets whistled through the night, and Ruozhong let out a muffled groan as his flashlight flew from his hand, his body collapsing limply to the ground.

"There's a sniper! Over there!"

The other team members shouted in panic and turned their guns around, blindly firing in the direction the bullets were probably coming from. The bullets sent debris flying from the factory's exterior walls, but they didn't even touch the hem of Yuan Zhensheng's clothes.

Yuan Zhensheng had already silently moved to a new location after firing the shot, hiding in the shadows of the abandoned factory area.

Now that he has no car, he definitely can't escape on foot, so he can only try to break through the encirclement and steal a car to escape in the chaos.

Kenjiro Kuwata reacted quickly, realizing that the opponent's shooting distance was farther than that of his team members—good marksmen are quite rare, and the fact that they could take down his team members from such a distance meant that the opponent was a professional.

"Turn off the lights!" he yelled, rolling down the window. "Turn off all the lights!"

Within seconds, all the headlights and flashlights went out abruptly. The factory area and unfinished buildings, which had been divided into light and dark sections, were instantly swallowed up by boundless darkness.

Only the occasional headlights of passing cars on the highway remain.

The unfinished buildings and factory area have fallen into a state of utter desolation.

The gunshots that were just roaring wildly, the low growl of the idling engine, and the shouts of the crew members seemed to be instantly cut off by an invisible hand.

The members of the mountain construction team huddled behind the shelters they had found, instinctively holding their breath; Yuan Zhensheng also disappeared into the darkness. He pressed himself against the cold concrete wall, his body motionless.

The wind seemed to grow cautious, whistling softly as it passed through the empty wasteland.

Yuan Zhensheng blinked, barely adjusting to the darkness, then carried his rifle downstairs and crept around to the back of his team members, intending to hijack a car at random.

He looked around and saw that only the window of the middle car was open. He took off his shoes, bent over, and walked over quietly, mimicking the voice of Kenkichi Kuwata using the "Stand's throat": "Open the car door."

The driver instinctively unlocked the door, and Kuwata Kenkichi, sitting in the back seat, suddenly changed his expression and shouted, "Baka! He's not—"

Snapped.

This is the fourth bullet fired by the dog that doesn't bark.

The driver's head swayed back and forth before he slumped onto the dashboard. The rest of the team, hearing the commotion, were about to approach to inquire when their leader's voice rang out: "Everyone scatter! That guy's already got close! Anyone who goes near is a killer!"

That shout was also from Yuan Zhensheng.

As soon as he opened the car door, Kuwata Kenkichi pounced from the back seat. This leader of the militant group reacted extremely quickly, his burly body carrying a brute force as he rammed directly into Hara Masaki, trying to push him out of the car.

Yuan Zhensheng couldn't dodge completely, and the dog he was holding was knocked away. The two of them wrestled in the narrow back seat of the car.

"Help! Someone come quick!"

Taking advantage of his weight, Kuwata Kenkichi reached out and grabbed Hara Masaki's neck, his fingers tightening like iron clamps. Hara Masaki felt difficulty breathing. He did not fight back. While blocking with his left hand, he bent his right hand into a cone shape and thrust upwards with lightning speed!

"Well!"

Kenjiro Kuwata groaned as the blow struck precisely below his Adam's apple. His throat throbbed with pain, his breath caught in his throat, and his grip involuntarily loosened for a moment.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Hara Masaki broke free, shouted "Don't come any closer!", and punched Kuwata Kenkichi in the temple.

Kuwata Kenkichi dodged to the side, but when he heard the guy giving orders in his own voice, he was filled with rage and slammed his head into Hara Masaki's face.

Yuan Zhensheng used his arm to block, and the two rolled between the seats, their arms, elbows, and knees becoming weapons, the dull thuds echoing continuously in the enclosed carriage.

The leather seats were creaking and the stitching on the suit jacket was coming undone.

"Rat!" Kuwata Kenkichi gasped for breath, his voice hoarse from the stinging pain in his throat, unable to speak loudly.

He grabbed Yuan Zhensheng by the neck with one hand and reached for his waist with the other, intending to draw his knife and stab him—a knife is more useful than a gun when fighting inside a car.

Seeing his intention, Yuan Zhensheng kicked his legs hard and used the rebound force of the seat to pull himself back. At the same time, he grabbed Kuwata Kenkichi's arm and used the other's momentum to pull him from the back seat to the front seat!

Kenkichi Kuwata lost his balance and fell onto the central armrest box.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Hara Masaki grabbed his neck from behind, and the two squeezed through the gap between the front seats, rolling and wrestling from the back seat to the front seat; Kuwata Kenkichi kicked the steering wheel, and the horn was pressed down to emit a short honking sound.

The group members looked at each other in bewilderment. With Ruotou and Ruozhong killed one after another, and the group leader's words contradicting each other, they were leaderless and didn't know what to do.

"Should we go take a look?"

"The boss said that anyone who gets close without permission is an assassin."

"But the boss just told us to go over there again..."

"Then go and take a look. I also think there's a problem."

Why aren't you going?

"I'll protect you from behind, so you won't get hurt..."

……

As the crowd was arguing, the car door suddenly opened, and the driver's body slid off the driver's seat; then, the car's high beams suddenly blazed on, blinding them.

Yuan Zhensheng slammed on the gas pedal, swerved the steering wheel, and sped onto the highway. The tires screeched as the car veered sharply and sped off towards the suburbs.

The vehicle accelerated wildly on the empty night road.

Kenjiro Kuwata was thrown between the front seats. He struggled, grabbing the bottom of the steering wheel with one hand and twisting it in the opposite direction, trying to make the vehicle lose control and stop or crash into the roadside obstacle. With his other hand, he grabbed wildly behind him, trying to grab Hara Masaki who was pressing down on him.

The steering wheel trembled violently as the two struggled, and the car traced a breathtaking S-shaped trajectory on the road, narrowly missing the road shoulder several times.

"Let go!"

Kuwata Kenkichi roared hoarsely, veins bulging on his forehead.

He used his body weight to lean to one side, and the front of the car immediately veered off course, hurtling towards the roadside guardrail!
