Hogwarts: Who uses a crowbar in wizard duels?
Chapter 48 Emergency Return, Encounter with a Dementor
The next day, Kevin briefly explained the situation to the Grangers, only saying that Hogwarts wanted them to go back ahead of time to avoid worrying them.
The Grangers understood what was more important, so they ended their trip early, packed their things, and went home together.
They plan to leave for Hogwarts tomorrow, so they're packing their luggage today.
Upon returning home, the group received a guardian consent form for their trip to Hogsmeade Village, which required their guardian's signature. Ron Draco and the other two had the consent forms delivered home by owl so their family members could sign them and then return them.
Harry just went ahead and showed up; he didn't expect his aunt and uncle's family to sign his autograph.
Hermione's case is simpler; she can sign directly.
Kevin ignored it; he could go anytime he wanted.
After everyone finished packing their luggage, they all sat in the living room of the house.
Kevin was speechless as he looked at the group of people whose atmosphere seemed a bit tense.
"They're here to see Harry, why are you all looking so gloomy?"
"Aren't you worried? He's the first person in history to successfully escape from Azkaban. A criminal of that caliber wants to kill Harry," Ron said with a worried expression.
"You've faced Voldemort three times already, are you afraid of just one of Voldemort's underlings?"
"How can that be the same? Voldemort was in a dying state, while this time he's a living, breathing criminal, and last time he even had Headmaster Dumbledore protecting him."
"So you don't think Dumbledore will protect Harry this time?"
"Ah, this..." Ron was stunned for a moment.
"Stop worrying about things that don't concern you. Professor Snape sending Harry back was Dumbledore's decision."
"This school year will go on as usual, so let's focus on this year's courses instead."
Kevin tried to cheer everyone up, and even Harry himself wasn't looking so gloomy, but he was still plotting how to get revenge.
Everyone stopped thinking about it; it was the last day of the holiday, so everyone went about their business.
Hermione is spending today with her parents, since she's going back to school tomorrow.
The others talked about their experiences learning spells, but it was mostly Kevin who was talking and they were learning.
......
Another day passed quickly, and the next day everyone set off together for the station to head to Hogwarts.
Surprisingly, some students left the station early today, so it seems they all received the notification.
After all, the Dementors are probably on their way to Hogwarts soon, and the school hopes the students will return as soon as possible to avoid encountering them.
The six of them squeezed into a private room; it wasn't crowded, but there wasn't much space either.
It seems I won't be able to meet Professor Lupin like in the movie.
He was quite curious, though he didn't know if any Dementors would come.
It is said that they feed on human emotions, and they especially love positive feelings. After being attacked by a Dementor, positive emotions will be gradually consumed, and in the end, people will only remember their most tragic experiences.
But Kevin didn't think he had any tragic experiences, so he didn't know how he would react if the Dementor attacked him. He was neither happy nor sad.
As the train slowly started moving, it drove away from the city.
Kevin looked out the car window at the drizzling rain and had a vague feeling of familiarity. Could he really be encountering a Dementor...?
"Screech!!" Suddenly, a loud metallic scraping sound rang out, and the train came to an abrupt stop.
Everyone was startled, not knowing what had happened.
"It looks like something's outside!"
Ron looked out the window at the dim surroundings and said.
The next moment, the train suddenly lost power, plunging the entire train into darkness.
Frost and fog even began to form, and the temperature started to drop rapidly and unreasonably.
Hermione's heart skipped a beat. Could it be another terrorist attack?
However, this time there was protection on the train. Immediately, a security guard came into each carriage and loudly reassured the students.
The next moment, a scream suddenly rang out; it came from the students in the next private room.
The security guard's voice abruptly stopped, turning into a shrill scream that didn't sound human.
"What's on the bus?"
Harry peeked out and saw a terrifying dark figure in the distance of the passage. The figure was clinging to the security guard, absorbing some faint energy.
"Stay put and don't move."
Kevin's voice rang out. He stood up, opened the door to the private room, and rushed towards the dark figure, the Dementor, without hesitation!
Although Dementors can only be driven away by the Patronus, they seem to have a collision volume.
Kevin delivers a Cavaliers flying kick!
The result was like kicking a piece of floating cloth—completely ineffective.
The Dementor was clearly taken aback by the sudden attack. Just as it was about to give Kevin a kiss, Kevin raised his hand and unleashed a "Palmtops of Exile" attack.
He learned this trick last year, and he has plenty of happy times.
A white ball of energy instantly sent the Dementor flying without causing any damage along the way, clearly indicating that this Guardian of the Gods had no collision volume.
However, Kevin did not go back, because the temperature around him was still dropping, and there was definitely more than one Dementor on the bus!
Kevin tossed the security guard lying on the ground to the students in the next compartment, asking them to take care of him. Then, he grabbed his wand, climbed out the window, scaled the train roof, and leaped onto the roof.
Sure enough, five Dementors were floating around.
"Put God on the Guard!"
A soft white light appeared on Kevin's wand, eventually transforming into a guardian spirit shaped like a goldfish.
With a wave of Kevin's wand, the guardian goldfish flew towards the Dementors in the sky.
These Dementors scream as soon as they touch the Guardian, then fly into the sky and escape.
After driving away the Dementors in the sky, Kevin once again manipulated the Patronus to enter the train, passing through the walls from the front of the train and crashing into two more Dementors.
Only then was the train's power restored, and the surrounding temperature returned to normal.
The goldfish guardian returned to Kevin's side, swam around a few times, and then disappeared.
Kevin stood on the roof of the train, looked around, and after confirming that there were no other dark figures, jumped back into the train.
Train security guards arrived, and Kevin handed the unconscious guard over to them to handle the situation.
Kevin then returned to his previous box. Once back at Hogwarts, someone would likely seek him out to provide feedback and take statements.
"Kevin, what was that spell just now? And were those shadowy figures Dementors?"
Ron asked excitedly as soon as he saw Kevin.
Hermione grabbed Kevin's hand and looked him up and down, worried that he might be injured.
"Yes, those are Dementors. The spell I used is the only magic that can deal with Dementors: Patronus Charm."
Kevin patted Hermione's head to indicate that he was alright, and then replied.
"But aren't Dementors supposed to be in Azkaban? Why are they here?"
Draco looked puzzled, not at all surprised that Kevin could drive away Dementors.
"They're probably here to hunt down Sirius."
Upon hearing this, Harry clenched his fist. Sirius Black had indeed come; Kevin hadn't lied to him.
"Everything is fine now. I believe Dumbledore will give everyone an explanation when we get to Hogwarts."
Kevin reassured everyone, even though he thought the third installment was the most relaxing, but the atmosphere among these little girls was the most oppressive. Why was that?
It's all the fault of those Dementors.
I'll make sure to take them down as soon as I see them.
"Kevin, can you teach me how to use Patronus?"
"Harry asked."
"Of course, it's not that difficult, but it's not that easy either."
"In short, you need to genuinely want to protect something or recall a happy time. This is a kind of idealistic magic, requiring strong conviction to drive it."
"I'll teach you at the House. I won't have to keep going to Professor Snape to learn from you this year, so I'll have more time."
Hermione was the happiest to hear Kevin say this, as it meant they would have even more time together from now on.
Soon after, the train regained power and continued its journey to Hogwarts.
During this time, a train conductor came to find Kevin, after all, he was the one who drove away the Dementors, so he came to offer his condolences and also to tell him to go to Dumbledore to explain the situation after arriving at Hogwarts.
Nothing else happened on the train, and it returned safely to Hogwarts.
