Hogwarts: Who uses a crowbar in wizard duels?

Chapter 45 Kevin and Hermione's Story in the Woods

On the day of the trip, Mr. Granger rented a van so that there would be enough space to carry all the children.

After picking up all the ingredients they had ordered from the market, they set off for their campsite.

This period happens to be the off-season, and there are no other tourists in the mountains, so it's just a world for these kids.

Since no one was around, Kevin stopped pretending and used a spell to send the items out of his pack one by one, automatically setting up a campsite. The whole process took only a few minutes, and he had finished what would normally be an hour's work.

Praise be to magic.

The Grangers' campsite was only about ten meters away from the group. They seemed to want some alone time, so they asked the children to stay away and not disturb them...

"Alright, everyone, feel free to wander around the area or rest in your tents. I'll call you for lunch around noon."

Kevin told the group that he was going to collect some firewood later; the coal was for grilling, and the firewood was for a campfire.

Their campsite was not far from the stream, so the four little ones naturally went to the stream to catch fish first.

Hermione then walked over to Kevin and said, "Let's go gather firewood together."

Of course, Hermione wouldn't let Kevin do the work alone. Well, mainly because it was a rare opportunity for them to be alone.

Kevin nodded, and the two of them went into the woods together.

Let's see if we can stumble upon some delicious food in the woods.

Kevin cast a bug-repelling charm, a scent-blocking charm, and even an armor charm on himself and Hermione.

I'm afraid that some wild dogs or wild boars might suddenly jump out of the woods and hurt people.

"Hermione, look, there's a squirrel in the tree." Kevin pointed to a treetop ahead, where a nimble squirrel was running around.

"Wow, it's so small! There must be squirrel holes around here, maybe it's hiding a lot of food for the winter." Hermione's eyes were full of curiosity.

"Seriously? You're even trying to rob a squirrel?"

"What are you thinking? I'm just curious and want to see. I'm not as wicked as you." Hermione kicked Kevin in the shin.

"What did I do wrong... Let's go look for it, maybe we can find something."

Soon the two of them found a small tree hole, and there was a little squirrel peeking out of the hole.

The tree hollow wasn't high, so Kevin simply picked Hermione up, jumped onto a fairly thick tree trunk, and then lifted Hermione's thigh with one hand, letting her sit on his arm.

Hermione was startled by the series of actions and felt a little shy, but her attention was immediately drawn to the squirrel hole in front of her.

The little squirrels inside were also startled by the sudden appearance of humans, baring their teeth and trying to drive the two-legged creature away.

"Squirrels shouldn't be able to bite through the Ironclad Spell. Reach in and see what's inside," Kevin suggested from below.

"That's so unethical! The little squirrel went through so much trouble to collect them." Hermione was clearly heartbroken.

"It's just a look, it's not like I'm not going to return it, what's there to be afraid of?"

"...That makes sense!" Hermione thought to herself, and then reached inside, more decisively than Kevin had imagined...

The little squirrel squeaked loudly and started nibbling at Hermione's hand, but it couldn't chew anything.

Hermione did manage to touch some small fruits, as well as some other random things.

It didn't seem like much; Hermione found it rather dull after watching it.

However, the little squirrel wasn't having it. It jumped out of its hole and pounced on Hermione's face.

"Whoa!" Although she was protected by the Ironclad Charm, Hermione was startled by the sudden attack and instinctively tried to back away, swinging her arms wildly.

But with Kevin holding her, she ended up leaning back.

Seeing Hermione lose her balance and about to hit her head, Kevin immediately put Hermione down, caught her in his arms, and then fell off the tree trunk.

Because he was protecting Hermione, he lost his balance and fell to the ground, while Hermione collapsed into his arms.

"Kevin, are you alright?" Little Hermione couldn't care less about the squirrel for a moment and looked at Kevin with concern.

"I'm fine. Why don't you take that thing off your head first? It's messing with your hair..." Kevin looked speechlessly at the squirrel crawling all over Hermione's head.

Hermione quickly pulled the squirrel off, but the little guy was still not satisfied and started to climb back onto Hermione.

"Hey little guy, your food, hurry up and take it back." Kevin picked up the squirrel and placed it on the fruit that had just been scattered all over the ground.

It's quite a quaint little thing; as soon as it saw fruit, it quickly started carrying it back.

Kevin quickly led Hermione away from the scene.

"Your hair looks like a bird's nest now," Kevin laughed, looking at Hermione's messy hair.

"Stop laughing, hurry up and help me tidy up." Hermione pinched Kevin's waist.

"Okay, okay, let go..."

Kevin diligently helped Hermione with her hair, but after quite some time, the two of them hadn't collected anything.

To be honest, gathering firewood is really just about experiencing what it's like to find things in the forest.

Kevin could easily trim the branches of the trees here and take a pile of firewood back with him.

Just as Kevin was helping Hermione fix her hair, a faint rustling sound of something bumping against the bushes rang out.

Something small is approaching.

The two turned around and saw a rabbit hopping out of the bushes.

Hermione's eyes lit up – what an adorable bunny!

Kevin's eyes lit up too—what a delicious rabbit!

Kevin pulled out a crowbar, ready to give the little rabbit a buff.

Hermione quickly grabbed Kevin's hand: "Kevin, don't kill it! The little bunny is so cute!"

"Hermione, it must taste even better than it looks."

"No, no, you can't eat it." Hermione, like a sloth, grabbed Kevin's hand and clung to him.

"..." Kevin sighed helplessly. It seemed he wouldn't be able to have a picnic with rabbits today.

"Hermione, the chicken you usually eat was actually quite cute when it was a puppy..."

Kevin even tried to undermine Hermione's resolve, but before he could finish speaking...

"Aaaaaah!" Hermione screamed and bit Kevin's arm.

"Ahhh! Stop, stop, stop! I won't say anymore! Let go, let go..." Kevin cried out in pain, caught off guard by Hermione's sudden attack, and quickly surrendered in agony.

Hermione then relented, and Kevin lay down flat. Hermione sat on Kevin in a duck-like position, a somewhat ambiguous posture, but neither of them noticed.

Hermione still wouldn't let Kevin off the hook, angrily pulling and tugging at Kevin's face.

"You stinky Kevin..."

"Stop it, I was wrong, Hermione..." Kevin could only admit defeat obediently. He realized that you really can't try to reason with a woman.

Hermione calmed down after Kevin begged for forgiveness.

"Hmph, that's more like it." Hermione smiled smugly and was about to get up.

The little rabbit wasn't afraid of people at all and jumped right next to Kevin's face, who was lying on the ground.

"Wow, little bunny, let me pet it!"

Hermione couldn't resist the rabbit's allure and reached out to hug it.

The rabbit suddenly hopped away, causing Hermione to lose her balance and fall face-first into Kevin's face.

Kevin didn't feel any softness at all; in fact, he felt a bit uncomfortable...

Kevin: It's okay, Hermione's still young, she has room to grow...

He felt comforted and couldn't help but move slightly.

Hermione felt a strange movement in her chest, like a startled fawn, and quickly sat up.

The result was that the action looked like Kevin was being pinned to the ground, and the two stared at each other.

Hermione's face turned as red as an apple, as if it could drip water.

Hermione tried to stand up, but when her eyes met Kevin's, she suddenly couldn't move. The two stared at each other, remaining in the position of pinning Kevin down.

Kevin looked at the delicate and alluring Hermione before him, and his heart began to pound violently, his breathing becoming rapid.

"Hermione..."

Kevin placed his hand on Hermione's waist, applying slight pressure, as if trying to pull Hermione into his arms.

Hermione seemed to know what was about to happen; her eyes gradually became unfocused, and she slowly leaned down to get closer to Kevin, their faces drawing ever closer.

They could almost hear each other's heartbeats, their slightly rapid breathing, and their warm breaths hitting each other's faces.

Hermione reached out and cupped Kevin's face in her hands, almost leaning in close.

"Kevin! Hermione! Where are you?!"

Just as their lips were about to touch, a shout suddenly startled them awake.

"!!!" Little Hermione sprang to her feet, as if only now realizing what she had just been thinking. A wave of shyness washed over her, and she turned her back to Kevin, covering her face.

Kevin felt the warmth disappear from his arms, and veins bulged on his forehead.

He got up and looked in the direction the sound came from. There was Harry with an innocent look on his face. When he saw Kevin, he ran over happily.

Whew, calm down... calm down...

Kevin's face twisted into a sinister grin...

"Oh, it's Harry. What's up?" He beckoned Harry over.

Harry, who was about to approach, suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

What's with this sense of crisis that's even more terrifying than encountering Voldemort...?

He saw Kevin's kind smile and beckoned him over, then he noticed Hermione hiding to the side, her ears bright red, avoiding eye contact.

Could it be...?

Harry remembered a scene from a romance novel that Ron had told him before...

Harry's biological instincts told him that his life had been in danger in the past!

"Um... Kevin... I suddenly remembered I left something in the tent, so I'm going back now!!"

Harry blurted out those words and turned to run away without hesitation.

Seeing Harry disappear in a flash, Kevin wanted to chase after him and give him a slam dunk, but he couldn't leave Hermione alone here.

"..."

"..."

The scene fell silent for a moment, neither of them knowing what to say.

"that...."

Finally, Kevin couldn't help but speak first.

"Go back, Hermione."

"Um..."

Now that the atmosphere from before is gone, forcing intimate contact with Hermione might just scare her.

Kevin sighed inwardly, but also felt relieved. Hermione would only be 14 years old when school started this September, so it was best not to do anything reckless.

However, to Kevin's surprise, Hermione took the initiative to approach him and hold his hand, but she still didn't dare to look at him and kept her head down, only her ears were clearly red.

Kevin could tell that Hermione wasn't actually against his touch, she just wasn't mentally prepared yet, but Hermione didn't want Kevin to think she was rejecting him.

Kevin was silent for a moment, then suddenly reached out and pulled Hermione into his arms.

"!!" Hermione flinched like a startled deer, but after realizing that Kevin was just holding her without making any other movements, she gradually calmed down.

She reached out and hugged Kevin, burying her face in his chest. Her previously agitated emotions gradually calmed down with Kevin's embrace.

Yes, Kevin is so gentle, he'll definitely respect my feelings.

Hermione thought to herself, then gently nuzzled Kevin's chest like a kitten.

It seems like we've gone back to the way things were before, leaving that paper window open, waiting for the next suitable opportunity to arrive.
