Hogwarts: Who uses a crowbar in wizard duels?

Chapter 31 Lockhart's Defense Against the Dark Arts Class

Good morning, students.

Good morning, Professor Sprout.

Today is their first class at Hogwarts: Herbs.

"Welcome, second-grade students, to Greenhouse Number Three! Everyone, come closer!"

"Today we're learning how to repot mandrake plants. Can anyone tell me what the purpose of mandrake roots is?"

Hermione, the top student, was the first to raise her hand and gave a perfect answer.

It's nothing more than being able to refine a healing potion to remove petrification, and the fact that mature mandrakes emit a deadly cry.

Gryffindor gets ten points.

Hermione proudly raised her head at Kevin, as if to say, "Look how amazing I am."

Kevin could only give a thumbs up.

The repotting tutorial started quickly. The mandrakes they were using were all in their juvenile stage, and their calls were not fatal, so all they had to do was wear earmuffs.

However, poor Neville still fainted.

After practicing, Kevin's technique was very fast and precise.

Five points for Gryffindor.

Kevin proudly raised his chin at Hermione.

Hermione rolled her eyes at him affectionately.

Harry and Ron, who were standing nearby, saw everything the two of them doing and exchanged a helpless glance.

Kevin and Kevin are hopeless; they weren't this lovey-dovey last year.

......

After the morning herbalism class, Kevin and his friends went to the meeting hall for lunch.

As they walked down the street, Draco suddenly rushed up behind them.

He pretended that he was just going the same way as the group, without even looking at them.

"Kevin, you better watch out lately, my dad won't let you get away with this."

"And you guys, this semester might not be safe, so be extra careful."

After saying that, Draco quickened his pace and left.

The House probably has the Malfoys' eyes on them too, so Draco is hesitant to get too close to them now, but he still came over to give them a few reminders.

"See? I told you he wasn't a bad person."

The three kids rarely agreed on this point. After the incident with the fire dragon Nober last year, they often met at Hagrid's hut, and their relationship wasn't too bad.

It's worth mentioning that Norbert the dragon is still at Hagrid's hut, where Dumbledore cast a shrinking spell on him, and then Hagrid tamed him completely.

"Kevin, they won't send anyone to Hogwarts to retaliate, will they?"

Hermione was a little worried about Kevin.

"As long as it's not someone at the professor level, I'm not worried." Kevin wasn't too concerned.

Under Dumbledore's protection, it was impossible for any truly terrifying person to sneak into Hogwarts.

"Alright, let's go eat. We have Defense Against the Dark Arts class this afternoon."

Kevin told the others to stop overthinking and that making a living was the priority.

Ron was the most enthusiastic, running back to eat with Kevin.

Harry and Hermione were speechless. How come they didn't seem to have any sense of crisis at all?

Thanks to Kevin, Ron and Harry didn't cause any trouble in the flying car this time, so Ron didn't receive the howling letter.

In the afternoon, I went to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom for class.

There was a small second floor at the very back of the classroom, and Lockhart, looking quite flamboyant, came out from his office on the second floor.

"Class, now I will introduce you to your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor for this year."

"That is, me, Gilderoy Lockhart."

Lockhart spoke eloquently about his achievements, revealing a very healthy grin.

The little witches looked on with fascination.

The young wizards, however, were bewildered and felt embarrassed for him.

Hermione was clearly also interested in the big stars in the newspapers, but she noticed a resentful gaze on her side.

Hermione turned her head and saw Kevin's slightly annoyed expression, which was kind of funny. It seemed like someone was jealous, but she wouldn't say who.

Hermione stopped paying attention to Lockhart and reached out to pat Kevin's head, coaxing him.

This tactic clearly worked well for Kevin.

"Beautiful Miss Granger, please don't fidget in class."

The two were sitting in the front row. When Hermione stroked Kevin, Lockhart noticed and came up with a smile and a wink.

After being publicly criticized, everyone noticed the intimate actions of the two little ones in the front row. Hermione withdrew her hand and lowered her head shyly.

Kevin puffed out his chest, looked around, as if to say, "Hermione touched me." (Hands on hips)

"Alright, alright, let's have a test now and see how well you know my textbook."

Lockhart clapped his hands, picked up a stack of test strips from the podium, on which were written some strange questions.

For example, Lockhart's ideals, his favorite color, his greatest achievement, and so on.

This was no challenge for Hermione, the little genius, who had already read Lockhart's books.

Kevin shamelessly leaned in to copy the answers, and Hermione didn't refuse, since it wasn't anything important.

Lockhart also noticed, but this time he didn't stop it; he felt it was a way of spreading his story among themselves.

Soon, everyone finished writing and handed it in.

When Lockhart checked, he was pleased to see that Hermione got almost everything right. He knew Kevin had copied Hermione's work, so he assumed Kevin must have gotten it all right as well.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out that Kevin's answers were all the opposite of Hermione's.

His favorite color is light purple, but he writes about dark purple. His greatest wish is to sweep away the demons of the world, so he writes about sweeping away angels. He hopes to successfully promote his shampoo, so he writes about shower gel.

Its main selling point is its rebellious nature.

Those who don't know the situation might think he really liked Lockhart, but they've misremembered some details.

But he knew that this was a zero-point answer written by Kevin after copying a perfect answer.

"..."

Lockhart looked constipated.

However, he quickly regained his confident smile.

"Now, I'm going to teach you how to deal with the most disgusting monsters in the magical world."

Lockhart walked to the cage covered with a large red cloth next to the podium.

"You will soon face your deepest fears in the classroom, but as long as I am here, you will be safe and sound."

"I urge everyone not to scream, because it will anger them!"

Lohar lifted the red cloth, revealing a cage containing a group of small blue elves, Cornish elves.

A winged, flying sprite, about the size of an arm.

This immediately drew laughter from the students, who were clearly not afraid of these little things.

Lockhart didn't care and simply opened the cage: "Let me see how you deal with them."

As soon as the cage was opened, the little elves inside swarmed out.

It flew around the classroom, plunging it into chaos in no time.

Neville was also pulled up by the two elves and hung from the chandelier.

Lockhart was very satisfied with the scene before him. Seeing that it was almost time, he chanted the spell, "Back to the cage, back to the cage, back to the cage quickly."

Before he could even cast the spell, his wand was suddenly snatched away by a sprite.

Lockhart finally panicked and fled in panic to the second-floor office under the attack of several elves.

He also left behind the words, "I'll give you a chance to catch all the little elves and put them back in their cages."

Then he closed the office door and hid.

Hermione downstairs looked on incredulously.

Kevin didn't move the whole time, and no sprites came near him.

Just then, a little elf, oblivious to its own mortality, rushed toward Hermione, but before it could grab Hermione's hair, Kevin's hand caught the elf first.

With a flick of the wrist, the little sprite shot down two other sprites like a cannonball.

Kevin took out his wand and cast a spell on the elves filling the classroom.

"Chain lightning!"

A bolt of yellow lightning shot out from the wand, striking a sprite and knocking it down. The lightning didn't stop; it bounced off to the nearest sprite, then to the next one, and so on.

The lightning was terrifyingly fast; in just a few seconds, it struck down all the little sprites in the classroom as if they were chained together by lightning.

Wow.

The young wizards gasped in surprise.

Hermione wanted to intervene, but Kevin beat her to it, so she could only mourn for the elves.

The sprites didn't die; they were just stunned by the electric shock and looked a bit charred.

Kevin flicked his wand again, and the little fairies floated into the cage automatically, which then closed and locked itself.

With another wave of his wand, Neville slowly descended from the chandelier.

With another wave of the wand, the classroom, which had been ravaged by the elves, was restored to its original state as if time had reversed.

These moves really impressed the young wizards.

"Kevin, what kind of magic did you just use?"

Harry asked with a look of surprise.

"It's nothing, just a minor change to how the electric spark works."

"..." Harry was speechless.
