Hogwarts: Who uses a crowbar in wizard duels?

Chapter 14 Becoming Snape's Slave

"I found it, here!" Hermione discovered something in a book about alchemy.

"Nico Flamel is the only known creator of the Philosopher's Stone."

"What stone? It sounds familiar..." Ron and Harry looked puzzled.

Hermione stared at the two of them speechlessly; she shouldn't have expected them to know about the Philosopher's Stone.

He then explained the magical power of the Philosopher's Stone.

It can turn stone into gold, and even create an elixir of immortality, granting eternal life to those who drink it!

Upon hearing about the elixir of immortality, Harry and Ron immediately remembered it.

Kevin asked Professor Snape a question during his very first Potions class.

Does the elixir of immortality need to be made using magic stones?

Harry and Ron immediately looked at Kevin, who was lying weakly on the hospital bed.

When Hermione found out about the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Immortality, she thought of Kevin. She looked at Kevin with some doubt.

That's right, they weren't reading in the library, but in the infirmary.

"....."

Kevin, seeing the three children staring at him, said speechlessly, "Have you even considered... that I'm still a patient... if you keep bothering me like this, Mrs. Pomfrey will scold you..."

Yesterday Kevin was sent to the infirmary, and the next day these three little ones ran to his bedside with a bunch of alchemy-related books to look up information, chatting and making noise all the while, showing no intention of taking care of Kevin, the patient.

"Oh Kevin, stop playing dead. You must know something. Tell me."

Ron shook Kevin and pleaded.

"What could I possibly know...? The book says... it's about making the elixir of immortality... I only know... that the Philosopher's Stone is related to the elixir of immortality... and... the key point is the Philosopher's Stone..."

Kevin said weakly, lying in bed.

He still feels unwell all over, as if his stomach doesn't belong to him anymore. He hasn't been able to eat a single bite of food since last night, and he's vomited up all his medicine.

This is the retribution he got for taking advantage of the kind-hearted Hagrid...

"Yes, the Philosopher's Stone! Snape definitely wants the Philosopher's Stone; he wants to make the elixir of immortality!"

Harry seemed to have discovered a blind spot and excitedly said, to which Ron agreed.

Hermione looked at Kevin lying on the board with a puzzled expression. She felt that Kevin knew something else, and she actually believed in Snape just like Kevin. But now all the evidence pointed to Snape as the bad guy.

Since Kevin didn't explain anything, Hermione decided not to ask anymore and planned to continue observing. She trusted Kevin.

"Let's go tell Hagrid," Harry suggested.

Ron had no objections, of course. Hermione glanced at Kevin, who had no reaction, and decided to go see what Hagrid had to say.

"You guys go ahead... Don't mention me to Hagrid. My current persona is that of a good boy, so don't drag me into your feud..."

Kevin wasn't going to get involved in the fun, mainly because he couldn't get out of bed at all.

The three kids naturally had no objections. They were able to find the clues so quickly thanks to Kevin and his friends. Maybe they could keep Kevin as a double agent in the future.

Soon the three little ones returned to Hagrid's cabin.

As soon as Hagrid saw them, he was about to turn them away when Hermione loudly announced that they had found Nicolas Flamel in the library and discovered the Philosopher's Stone, without mentioning Kevin at all.

Hagrid, fearing they were talking too loudly and attracting others, had no choice but to take them into the cabin.

Harry insists that Snape wanted to steal the Philosopher's Stone.

Hagrid firmly believed that Snape would not steal from him; he was one of the guardians of the Philosopher's Stone, and through Cerberus's method, only he and Dumbledore knew, not even Snape.

Then, for a while, neither of them could convince the other.

Hagrid warned them not to make a fuss and kicked them out. Harry and the others had no choice but to leave and return to Kevin, where they told him what had happened.

Kevin wasn't surprised; they were just missing a certain opportunity.

Harry hadn't witnessed Voldemort killing unicorns and drinking their blood to prolong his life, so he didn't know who truly wanted the Philosopher's Stone.

Hagrid hadn't obtained the dragon egg yet, so the method he used through Cerberus hadn't been known to a third person.

According to the normal plot, they should only find out about this after Christmas, then encounter Hagrid hatching the egg, be caught by Draco, be taken to the Forbidden Forest as punishment, meet Voldemort, and finally ask about the origin of Hagrid's dragon egg to learn the "truth," which would connect everything.

"What's the rush? Things will work themselves out... Besides, nobody knows how to get through Cerberus yet," Kevin said, lying on the bed and looking at the worried group.

Ron suddenly had an idea and said to Kevin, "You could try to get information out of Hagrid!"

Harry's eyes lit up when he heard that.

"..." Kevin was speechless, realizing he had underestimated their ability to cause trouble.

"First of all, I don't want to take advantage of Hagrid's trust in me anymore."

"Secondly, now that you know how to use Cerberus, what can you do? Are you going to steal it? The important thing now is to protect this secret from being discovered by others."

Kevin gave them a very formal rejection, which was unusual for him.

"Kevin is right, this isn't something we should be worrying about," Hermione agreed with Kevin.

Harry and Ron had no choice but to give up.

Hermione, you're an angel! Kevin looked at Hermione gratefully, only to be met with a glare in return.

Seeing that the three of them weren't very interested, Kevin felt he had to say something.

They are the brave little lions of Gryffindor, with an overly strong sense of justice and responsibility, and cannot tolerate Snape, a potential threat who covets the Philosopher's Stone.

The professors at Hogwarts clearly trusted Snape, and no one believed them even if they told him.

After thinking for a long time, Kevin finally spoke:

"I once read a book, and there was a sentence in it that I really liked."

When you're at your wit's end, why not boldly forge ahead?

"Life is a great adventure, and fate will always guide us to the right place."

"Emm....What I mean is, since we can't change the status quo, let's change ourselves first, enrich ourselves, and when the time comes, you who are stronger will be able to face the unknown future with more ease."

The three kids seemed surprised that Kevin would suddenly start spouting profound truths in such a serious manner.

"..."

The scene was very silent for a while.

"What you're saying sounds just like my mother."

Finally, Ron made a comment.

However, the three little ones were indeed in a much better mood. No matter what, life goes on, so it's better to think about their final exams first.

For a while afterward, their lives returned to normal.

Kevin lay in bed for two whole days. During that time, Hagrid came to visit him, and Snape brought him medicine, saying that if he dared to vomit it up, he would shove his head into a cauldron and drink it.

He recovered so quickly thanks to Snape's potion.

In the days that followed, Kevin either attended classes or was forced by Snape to do manual labor, and spent the rest of his time with Hermione in the library.

Hermione seems to be getting more and more attached to him, and she likes to chat with Kevin whenever she has a chance. Now they're not just talking about studies anymore; Hermione has started to care about Kevin's past life and even talk about her own.

Kevin was also very happy to share some of his funny stories with Hermione, making the little girl laugh frequently.

And what I told Hagrid before about seeing the whole library was obviously a boast! Nobody actually believed me, right?

Really? Really?

Of course, he would occasionally go to Hagrid for a chat and learn about magical creatures from him.

He's a walking encyclopedia of magical animals.

......

"Professor Snape, I'd like to brew some potions to sell in Diagon Alley."

Kevin was in Snape's office, busy grinding medicine powder, when he suddenly spoke to Professor Snape, who was quietly concocting a potion.

Snape paused, raising his dead eyes to look at Kevin.

Surprisingly, he didn't immediately mock or ridicule Kevin; instead, he genuinely considered the issue seriously.

Kevin hadn't expected Snape's reaction, but he was still looking forward to seeing what Snape would think.

He actually wanted to use Snape's connections, whether it was to purchase various materials or export potions, but it was not easy for a little wizard like him with no background to do so.

After a while, Snape suddenly revealed a cold smile.

"Oh, of course. After all, Mr. Kevin is already an excellent potion master. This is a very good idea."

Kevin shuddered as he looked at the sinister smile on Snape's face. What kind of wicked scheme was Snape plotting now?

He immediately stopped the potion brewing and Snape took Kevin to his basement.

Upon arriving at Snape's private workshop, the old bat waved his hand, and a dazzling array of herbal materials flew out from the cabinet.

"These herbs are yours to use however you like."

Kevin didn't believe Snape would be so kind, but sure enough, the next sentence broke his nerve.

"I'll value these herbs at 2000 gold gallons, plus the cost of my labor in collecting them, so I'll say 3000 gold gallons. Mr. Kevin, you now owe me 3000 gold gallons, understand?"

???

No, what do you mean by a service fee of 1000 Galleons?

Kevin stared incredulously at the shameless Snape.

"And I will buy the potions you concoct at market price, based on their quality."

"Furthermore, I will charge you a commission for selling these products for you, which will also be 1000 Galleons."

"Oh, right, there's also venue rental and equipment rental, each batch is charged at 1000 Galleons."

"So, Mr. Kevin, if you want to make money with your pathetic and laughable skills, then figure out how to turn this pile of herbs into a potion worth more than 5000 Galleons. Otherwise, I'd be happy to be your creditor, Mr. Kevin..."

After saying that, Snape turned and left without looking back.

Kevin looked at some medicinal materials and assessed their value.

It turned out that Snape had overstated the price; the materials were worth at most 1500 Galleons!

In the end, he had no choice but to admit defeat; this should be considered a new lesson Snape taught him.

He could already foresee that Snape would be his creditor for a long time to come.
