Chapter 82 Compensation

Rolin landed silently in front of Motu, facing Calder. His slender back stood like a silent and solid wall, completely shielding Motu from view.

He didn't even raise his hand or assume any fighting stance; he just stood there.

However, the moment he landed...

The grayish-white light condensing on the surface of the card in front of Calder, which had already been activated and was about to emit disintegration rays, suddenly froze and then automatically went out!

It was neither interrupted nor negated.

Instead, it was completely suppressed by a purer and more domineering aura!

The unique aura emanating from Rolin, belonging to a formal Dragonblood Wizard, was not deliberately released; it was simply that his mere presence naturally enveloped and dominated everything in the arena!

The runes on the Calder card seemed to be strangling the throat of energy by an invisible giant hand.

The silvery-white light flickered violently, struggled for a moment, and finally, unwillingly, faded completely, all the condensed magic power forced to retreat back into the card.

For the first time, the expression on Calder's face changed.

His pupils contracted slightly, and his jawline tightened involuntarily, revealing a deep sense of apprehension and solemnity on his face.

The three cards that were floating beside him, like startled leaves, dropped in height and clung tightly to his sleeve.

The runes on the card completely dimmed.

"—The Bloodthirsty One."

Calder spoke, his voice slightly lower than before.

Rolin didn't even glance back at Motu.

His silver-gray, metal-cast vertical pupils gazed calmly at Calder.

The look in his eyes didn't seem like he was looking at a formal wizard of the same rank, but rather like he was looking at an insignificant, even somewhat obstructive, object.

"Kalder, why aren't you staying in your magic card lab?"

Rowling's voice was low, carrying a hint of detached indifference, "What are you doing here on my turf?"

Upon hearing this, Calder's gaze passed over Rolin's shoulder and locked firmly on the silver storage ring shimmering at the tip of Motu's tail.

"My apprentice,"

He spoke clearly, each word distinct, "And—my experimental materials. He took my things."

Upon hearing this, Luo Lin turned his head slightly and glanced at Mo Tu out of the corner of his eye.

Motu understood and, without the slightest hesitation, took the storage ring from the end of its tail, probed its internal space with his mental energy, and retrieved the metal spider he had obtained from Matthew.

Then he carefully handed over the alchemical device with his claws.

This thing isn't very useful to him. If he had known this would happen, he would have just thrown it into the Darkwater Swamp.

Mo Tu was quite upset that his small act of greed had led to this mess.

Rolin extended his palm, covered in fine scales, and took the device.

He held the device in his palm, and a wisp of pure and powerful magic probed into it.

The runes on the surface of the device lit up slightly in response to his magic, then went out completely, as if they had exhausted the last bit of energy.

The air fell silent for a moment.

Rolin weighed the metal spider device in his palm, as if assessing its value, then turned his gaze back to Calder, his tone calm yet carrying a sense of self-righteous authority: "Now that the item is in my hands, that's his own doing."

You want to get your experimental data back,

He paused, his silver-gray vertical pupils fixed on Calder. "Fine. Bring something in exchange."

Calder's eyes sharpened instantly.

He clearly hadn't expected Rolin to be so directly and undisguisedly biased towards this dragonblood subordinate.

Even more unexpectedly, in front of him, a fellow second-ring Holy Blood Tower wizard, the other party's attitude was so tough and merciless.

"Complete growth data for a variant,"

Rowling stated the price for him, his tone flat and monotone: "It shouldn't be cheap."

Calder remained silent.

He stared intently at Rowling, who calmly returned his gaze.

Between the two formal wizards, an invisible spiritual force field and magical pressure silently collided and clashed in the twilight!

The three cards that were pressed against Calder's cuffs began to tremble slightly uncontrollably, the runes on their surfaces flickering, as if something was struggling uneasily within them, trying to break free!

However, not a single card ever truly took flight and activated!

In the midst of this tense standoff, Luo Lin took half a step forward.

It was only half a step.

His right foot landed lightly on the muddy ground, without even making a sound.

But this seemingly casual half-step seemed to have triggered some invisible trigger!

The card on the outermost part of Calder's sleeve was activated suddenly and reactively!

A silvery-white, semi-circular defensive light membrane instantly popped out from the card's surface and enveloped Calder!

However, this light membrane had barely formed when, under the pressure of Roland's even more solid and domineering aura of a dragon-blooded wizard, which resembled the might of a real dragon, it shattered like fragile glass!

It transformed into countless tiny silver specks of light, drifting and disappearing into the dim twilight.

Calder took a step back.

His heels sank deep into the soft mud, and the hem of his dark red robe was inevitably stained with filthy mud.

He didn't look down.

"I only installed this monitoring device on Matthew a few days ago—"

A hint of barely concealed difficulty finally crept into Calder's voice. "How much does the Bloodthirsty One think it's worth?"

Luo Lin frowned slightly, seemingly impatient with the other party's haggling: "How much do you think it's worth?"

Calder's gaze turned to Motu once again.

This time, he truly and carefully examined the blue dragon bloodline.

The fluctuations of a novice wizard's spiritual power, the aura of dragon blood from someone who had recently advanced to the second rank, the strange bronze luster flowing on his scales, the dazzling silver ring on his tail, and the unusual magical fluctuations faintly emanating from his stomach—

He pondered for a moment.

Then, from his large, dark red sleeve, he took out a rather worn-looking leather pouch.

He reached into the bag and his fingers made two very slight, quick pinches inside.

Then, he casually tossed the small leather bag toward Rowling.

"Promotion resources for intermediate wizard apprentices"

Calder's voice returned to its previous calm, yet carried a hint of painful hardness: "Is that enough?"

Rowling reached out and caught the small bag that flew towards him.

He probed a wisp of pure magic into the bag and examined the items inside like an appraiser.

A few seconds later, he took out two bottles of potion concentrate with labels and intact packaging from the bag, placed them in his palm, and looked at the labels and color.

Then, he let out a cold snort.

A powerful and concentrated magical energy suddenly surged from his scaled fingertips, enveloping both bottles of undiluted liquid simultaneously!

"Snap! Snap!"

The crisp sound of shattering glass was particularly jarring in the deathly silence of the twilight!

The two bottles of the original solution were instantly crushed, and the strangely colored liquid dripped from between Rolin's fingers.

When the liquid was poured onto the dry grass stems below, it immediately emitted a hissing, unsettling corrosive sound and wisps of foul-smelling blue smoke.

"Using these underhanded tricks."

Roland casually tossed the remaining shards of glass on the ground, his tone filled with undisguised contempt. "People from the Magic Card Lab, as expected."

Calder's face remained expressionless, but his hand, hidden in his sleeve, clenched tightly almost imperceptibly.

Luo Lin stopped looking at him and handed the cleaned leather bag directly to Mo Tu behind him.

The bag now contains only three bottles of confirmed potion concentrate, and a small bag of pre-processed potion materials to aid in advancement.

This was not due to Calder's generosity, but rather the result of Rowling's strong pressure and meticulous screening.

After doing all this, Rolin gently tossed the metal spider alchemy device in his palm back to Calder with precision.

Calder caught it with his hand, and without even looking at it, quickly put it into his sleeve.

"Walk."

Luo Lin uttered only one word, but it carried the implication of a forced dismissal.

Calder did not look at Rolin again, nor did he say another word.

He suddenly turned around, his dark red robe leaving a blurry afterimage in the twilight, and his figure soared into the sky, flying swiftly back the way he came!

The speed was several times faster than when they arrived!

In the blink of an eye, his figure, along with that suffocating pressure, completely disappeared beyond the distant horizon.

Clean and efficient.

It was as if they had never been here before.

Rolin stood still until Calder's aura completely dissipated beyond his perception range before slowly turning around to face Motu.

He gestured to the small leather pouch again.

"Ingredients for a special advancement potion made by the Calder lineage. Enough to support your smooth advancement to intermediate wizard apprentice."

He added calmly, "I've already removed those that he tampered with or added to. The rest are safe to use."

Motu took the small bag, which still held the warmth of Luo Lin's palm, and was about to speak when Luo Lin raised his hand to stop him.

"You're welcome."

His voice was calm yet firm, "You are mine. If he harms you, he is disrespecting me."

He paused, his silver-gray vertical pupils staring directly at Motu, his tone shifting to a warning: "But that doesn't mean you can provoke him. Until you yourself become a formal wizard, avoid Calder whenever you see him."

After saying that, Rowling turned around, seemingly preparing to leave.

But after taking only two steps, he paused, without turning around, but his voice came clearly: "There's more."

His tone carried a deeper meaning: "This matter ends here. Calder himself will not personally take action against you again."

This is the rule, and the unspoken understanding among us wizards. But his apprentices might not be so.

As soon as he finished speaking, Rowling stopped and strode away, disappearing into the deepening twilight and shadows at the edge of the camp.

Motu stood alone, his claws gripping the small leather pouch tightly. Beneath the cold scales, blood still flowed from the brief but extremely dangerous confrontation they had just endured.

He understood exactly what Rowling meant.

Calder received warnings and was suppressed, but due to the unspoken rules among formal wizards and the intimidation from Rowling, he would not personally intervene to bully the weak.

However, Calder's apprentices were not subject to this restriction.

If they come seeking revenge, it will be a fight among peers, each relying on their own abilities and bearing their own life and death.

This wasn't really a big problem. Motu took a deep breath and carefully put the leather pouch into the storage ring on his tail.

Then, he spread his broad dragon wings, which were covered with the patterns of newly formed bronze.

flapping wings, taking off.

The dragon's shadow, a blend of deep blue and bronze, once again pierced the deepening twilight, flying steadily and resolutely towards the camp not far away, where lights were already twinkling.
