When Shen Yujie was dragged away by her mother, her ponytail swayed back and forth, and she turned back to wave at them after walking several steps.
She was also saying, "Goodbye, sisters!" and "See you in summer vacation, Taoist priest!"
Her mother turned around and smiled at Chen Shouyi. They were a bit far apart, so it was hard to hear what she said, but it was probably something like "Thank you for your trouble" or "I'm sorry."
Chen Shouyi nodded slightly in response.
After the mother and daughter had walked away, he turned around and looked at Nazha and Chen Yao, who were standing a few steps away.
The two stood there, their baseball caps pulled low, and black masks covering most of their faces, leaving only their eyes visible.
Naza's eyes are large and deep, while Chen Yao's eyes are clear and gentle. Even with their eyes covered, you can tell they have beautiful faces just by looking at their eyes.
"Why are you here?" Chen Shouyi asked. "Didn't you say you were afraid of being recognized?"
Chen Yao pursed her lips, raised her hand to push up her glasses, and gave a slightly embarrassed smile.
Naza was quite generous, hanging her sunglasses on her collar and saying with a smile.
"Isn't this a disguise? Fully armed with a hat and mask, isn't that safe enough?"
Chen Shouyi glanced at her, then at Chen Yao, his gaze lingering on their faces for a moment as if carefully assessing something, before he said slowly:
"Your current resolution is still too high."
"Master, you even know about resolution?"
"I also use a mobile phone."
Naza paused for a moment, then burst out laughing.
However, Chen Shouyi was absolutely right. Nazha's eyes, even with a mask on, are undeniably deep and striking, like those of a mixed-race person, naturally drawing more attention in a crowd.
Although Chen Yao has a light and aloof temperament, her body proportions are so good that she looks like a clothes hanger just by standing there.
As for himself, his Taoist robe stood out more than any other strange costume in the scenic area.
Especially when Shen Yujie wanted to take a group photo just now, it was hard for the four of them to stand together without attracting attention.
What's more, when Shen Yujie wanted to take a photo, she took off her mask and struck a pose, making quite a commotion, and several tourists around her kept glancing in their direction.
Chen Shouyi glanced at a few young girls not far away who were holding up their phones and looking in their direction, then looked away.
"Since we're already here, let's go explore the other side."
"Okay, okay," Nazha immediately agreed, smiling as she followed.
Jin Chen stood there, watching Nazha and Chen Shouyi walk away side by side, a smile still on his lips, but the smile had faded a little.
Chen Yao walked behind and noticed that Jin Chen hadn't followed, so she slowed down and gently touched her arm.
"What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
Jin Chen turned to look at her and smiled, "It's nothing, I'm just a little disappointed."
Chen Yao blinked and quickly understood.
The young girl chatted with them for a long time, but her eyes kept drifting towards the Taoist priest.
When Nazha and she appeared, she immediately called out her name and covered her mouth excitedly, but she didn't recognize Jin Chen at all when he was standing there.
"She's young, so she might not pay much attention to dance programs," Chen Yao comforted her softly. "Besides, you've mainly focused on dance these past two years, and you haven't had any film or television works yet, so it's normal that she doesn't recognize you."
Jin Chen turned to look at her and couldn't help but laugh: "Teacher Chen, your skills in comforting people need improvement."
Chen Yao was taken aback: "Did I say something wrong?"
"No." Jin Chen waved his hand, looking much more relaxed. "You're right, I'm not as famous as you two, it's normal that people don't know me. It'll be fine once 'Legend of Nine Tails Fox' airs."
She adjusted her mindset very quickly.
However, this is the truth. Nazha has "Xuan-Yuan Sword", Chen Yao has "Wu Xin: The Monster Killer", and her most outstanding work so far is a dance variety show.
There is a difference in brand awareness, which is an objective fact.
Jin Chen glanced ahead.
Naza was talking to Chen Shouyi with her head tilted to the side, the hem of her floral dress swaying with her steps, and her smile was incredibly bright.
Jin Chen couldn't help but roll his eyes inwardly.
That damn woman, she has a boyfriend and still comes to cause trouble.
She took a deep breath, her smile returning, and turned to Chen Yao, saying, "Let's go, let's follow them."
Chen Yao was a little surprised by how quickly her emotions changed. She was just feeling down, but now she was back to her usual cheerful self.
However, she didn't ask any more questions, nodded, and followed.
Naza, who was walking ahead, asked Chen Shouyi with a cheerful smile, "Daoist Master, where are we going now?"
Chen Shouyi glanced into the depths of the scenic area, where the sounds of traditional Chinese string and wind instruments and the clamor of crowds could be heard, and a procession adorned with flowers could be seen moving slowly.
"Let's go see how the Flower Goddess's parade goes."
"Okay, okay," Nazha readily agreed and followed.
Chen Shouyi walked ahead, the sleeves of his purple Taoist robe fluttering slightly in the wind. Naza followed on his right, asking curiously:
"What's a Flower Goddess Parade? Is it just a bunch of people dressed in ancient costumes walking around?"
"Pretty much. There are twelve flower goddesses, each representing a month, dressed in corresponding Song Dynasty attire. They walk along the main street starting from the Rainbow Bridge, scattering flower petals as they go. After reaching the Great Song Ward, there is a simple flower goddess worship ceremony."
"You know about this?"
"No, I just happened to be nearby when the tour guide was giving his explanation, and I overheard it."
On the other side, Shen Yujie was strolling slowly along the main street, arm in arm with her mother. Her mother was carrying shopping bags she had just bought and had a smile on her face.
"That young Taoist priest is not only good-looking, but he also has a very pleasant voice."
Shen Yujie didn't even look up; her fingers flew across the phone screen as she set up a group for Chen Shouyi on QQ.
"So you gave them a thousand dollars?"
"That's what you said, to support them." Mrs. Shen smiled happily.
"It's not easy for one person to run a Taoist temple. Besides, didn't the Taoist priest say that you'll definitely get into a good high school? A thousand yuan for good luck isn't much."
Shen Yujie was thinking: I'm the one who should be studying hard for the exam, so why does it seem like it's all his credit?
However, she didn't say it aloud.
She looked up, stretched out her hand to her mother, palm up: "Mom, I want money too."
Mrs. Shen glanced at her hand: "What do you need the money for?"
"Buying things."
"What should I buy?"
"Just...buying things."
Shen's mother slapped her hand away: "We'll talk about it after you get into high school."
Shen Yujie pursed her lips, withdrew her hand, and looked down at her phone again.
On the screen, Master Qingquan's avatar lay quietly in the group with three sun emojis. He was a cute little Taoist priest who looked a bit silly.
She put her phone back in her pocket and took her mother's arm.
"Mom, the Flower Goddess Parade is about to start, let's go watch it."
"What flower goddess parade?"
"It's today's event. I just saw the introduction."
"Alright, alright, let's go take a look."
The mother and daughter followed the flow of people toward the main street.
When the Flower Goddess procession slowly walked from the other end of Fanlou, the entire main street became lively.
Leading the procession were two maids carrying flower baskets, dressed in light green Song-style jackets, who plucked flower petals from their baskets and scattered them into the air as they walked.
Pink, white, and red petals fell onto the bluestone pavement, only to be swept up by the skirts of the people behind them and billowed up again.
The twelve flower goddesses lined up in order, with the first one, the plum blossom goddess, wearing a white jacket with red patterns, a sprig of wax plum in her hair, and holding a bunch of plum blossom branches in her hands.
The apricot blossoms in February, the peach blossoms in March, and the peonies in April were all more beautiful than the last, their flower crowns piled up like small mountains.
The streets were packed with tourists, who were constantly taking pictures with their phones. Some parents carried their children on their shoulders, and the children reached out to catch the petals floating in the air, giggling.
Chen Shouyi and his group stood on a set of steps by the street, a slightly elevated position with a good view.
Naza peeked into the line on tiptoe and clicked her tongue, "That flower goddess's crown must be quite heavy."
Jin Chen stood next to her, arms crossed: "Look at her neck."
"Hahaha, it does lean forward a bit."
"Nonsense, you'd be like that if you had something that heavy on your head."
