The first week consisted entirely of theory classes.

Zhou Yi's teaching style is just like her personality—concise, direct, and uncompromising.

"You think you can coast along at Shrek Academy just because you're talented?" She stood on the podium, her gaze sweeping across the classroom. "Let me tell you, since Shrek Academy was founded, the number of geniuses expelled is more than your entire class combined."

No one dared to speak.

Luo Yun sat by the window. Although he disagreed with Zhou Yi's teaching philosophy, there were some aspects of combat theory that he did lack. While Master Fang had taught him some things, he was a Soul Master, and his understanding of Soul Master combat was more from a support and self-preservation perspective. Zhou Yi was different; she was a true combat specialist.

Chen Jiyong sat next to him, taking notes even more diligently than he did. Luo Yun glanced at him, thinking that if this guy used the speed he used to write as he did to running, he could lap at least ten laps faster than Luo Yun.

A week later, during the last class, Zhou Yi did not begin her lecture as usual.

She stood on the podium, threw the chalk into the box, and dusted off her hands.

"The new students will have an assessment every three months, and the assessment method is practical combat," she said. "This afternoon, in the Battle Arena, practical combat training."

The classroom was quiet for a moment, then erupted into chaos.

"Real combat? So soon?"

"We've only been in class for a week..."

Zhou Yi did not stop the chatter; she simply stood there, expressionless, watching the audience. Only when the noise subsided did she speak.

"Meet at 2 PM in the Battle Arena. Latecomers will be punished with 100 laps."

---

At 2 PM, all students of Class 3, Grade 1 appeared in the Soul Fighting Zone on time.

The Soul Fighting Zone is located on the north side of the teaching building. It is a separate, circular building with gray stone exterior walls that look quite old. A stone tablet stands at the entrance, inscribed with the words "Soul Fighting Zone".

Upon entering, there was a huge hexagonal arena with a sunken fighting platform in the center, about twenty meters in diameter. The platform was paved with bluestone slabs, and simple defensive magic arrays were carved along its edges. Surrounding it were tiered stands that could hold three thousand people. At this moment, the stands were empty, with only their class present.

Zhou Yi stood by the arena, arms crossed, watching the students enter one after another. Beside her stood a man dressed in white.

"Is everyone here?" She glanced at the crowd. "Line up."

The forty-odd people stood scattered in a few rows. After a week of getting to know each other, they had become somewhat familiar with each other. When lining up, they would huddle together in twos and threes, but Zhou Yi would glare at them, and then they would obediently line up.

"The rules for today's sparring are very simple." Zhou Yi's voice wasn't loud, but it carried far in the empty fighting area. "One-on-one, stop when you've made your point. Winning or losing isn't important; what's important is showing me your skill level."

Her gaze swept across the group and finally landed on Luo Yun.

"Class monitor, set an example for everyone first."

Luo Yun paused for a moment, then stepped out of the line. He had guessed that Zhou Yi would let him go first, but he didn't expect it to be so soon.

"Although I've appointed the class monitor," Zhou Yi said, looking at the others, "anyone who disagrees can challenge me. Beat him, and you'll be the class monitor."

There was a two-second silence in the line, then someone raised their hand.

"I'll do it."

A boy stepped out of the line. Luo Yun recognized him—Li Xunjiang. He was half a head taller than Luo Yun, with broad shoulders and thick arms; he looked like a strong guy.

"Li Xunjiang." He stood on the Soul Battle Platform, looked at Luo Yun, and said with a hint of dissatisfaction, "Level 22, Martial Soul: Wind Demon Ape."

"Luo Yun." Luo Yun stood opposite him. "Level 23, Martial Soul: Ice Falcon."

"Begin." Zhou Yi's voice came from below the stage.

Without hesitation, Li Xunjiang activated his Martial Soul Possession. His body suddenly grew taller, his shoulders broadened, a layer of grayish-black down sprouted on his arms, his eyes turned pale gold, and two slightly protruding canine teeth appeared in his mouth. Two spirit rings slowly rotated around him—two yellow ones, the standard configuration.

"Wind Demon Ape, a power-type martial soul." Li Xunjiang cracked his knuckles as he stretched his shoulders. "Squad leader, be careful."

Luo Yun remained silent. He took a deep breath and activated his Martial Soul.

An icy blue light surged from his body, covering his arms and upper body. Dense, icy blue feathers covered his entire upper and forearms, each one gleaming with a metallic coldness. The feathers on his shoulders grew thicker, as if he were wearing a layer of ice armor. His fingers became longer and more slender, and his nails transformed into icy blue claws.

Two spirit rings slowly rotated around him.

The first ring is a normal yellow.

Second lap —

The stands fell silent.

The color of that spirit ring is wrong. The outer ring is dark yellow, but the inner ring has a dark purple base, as if someone had painted a layer of purple on top of the yellow. When the spirit ring rotates, that purple layer flickers with the light, appearing and disappearing intermittently.

"What's that?" someone asked in a low voice.

"Purple...isn't purple only for millennium-old spirit rings?"

"No, the outer ring is still yellow."

"A near-thousand-year spirit ring." Zhou Yi's voice came from below the stage, her tone calm, as if she were talking about something perfectly ordinary. "The second spirit ring was formed by absorbing a spirit beast that was nearly a thousand years old, plus a special opportunity. Its power is close to that of a thousand-year spirit ring."

A few seconds of silence fell over the stands, followed by a flurry of whispers. An eleven-year-old with two spirit rings was already astonishing enough, but to have a second spirit ring that was nearly a thousand years old—this kind of setup was indeed unmatched by many freshmen.

Li Xunjiang's expression changed. He stared at the spirit ring, his lips pursed, but he didn't back down. He was a power-type offensive character, and the Wind Demon Ape spirit granted him strength and endurance. He had trained for so many years, and he didn't believe he would lose to a control-type character who was only a year younger than him.

"Go," Zhou Yi said.

Without further hesitation, Li Xunjiang pushed off with his feet and shot forward like a cannonball. His speed wasn't fast, but each step shook the ground, and his fist, accompanied by a whistling sound, slammed into Luo Yun's face.

Luo Yun did not move.

He didn't release any ice mist, ice thorns, or even dodge.

He simply raised his right arm and took the punch head-on.

"boom--"

The dull thud echoed through the Soul Arena.

Luo Yun took a step back, his right sleeve torn open by the force of the punch, but his arm remained perfectly still. Li Xunjiang's fist slammed into the feathers on his forearm as if hitting an iron plate, causing him to stagger back two steps.

The students were in an uproar.

"He took Li Xunjiang's punch head-on?"

"Li Xunjiang is a power type."

"The class monitor doesn't use soul skills?"

Chen Jiyong stood in the crowd, his mouth agape, unable to close it for a long time. He knew Luo Yun was physically fit—he could run a hundred laps and be completely unharmed—but he hadn't expected him to be this fit. Those kinds of punches would have knocked him down instantly, yet Luo Yun had taken them all without taking a single step back.
