Chapter 42 Gratitude from the Elven Race

As the explosion that shattered the fabric of reality resounded, the once radiant Spirit Bone Arch completely disintegrated, turning into countless dull fragments scattered across the valley floor. The disappearance of the Netway entrance severed the planet's last connection with the subspace.

The remaining finishing touches didn't take long.

Leonora roared in attack, and the swarm of insects, which had been unable to contain themselves any longer, launched another charge. The leaping insects that had rushed in from the periphery swarmed towards the weakened demons like a tidal wave, tearing them to shreds with their sharp scythes. The cockroaches spewed highly concentrated acid, turning the banshees that tried to fight back into bubbling pools of pus.

The Marines were not idle either; the roar of their Gauss rifles echoed through the valley. Each spiked round blasted a huge, bloody hole in the Banshee's slender body, while the A.K.S. Guardians, under the cover of medics, used star darts to slice open the necks of every lone Banshee.

Without the constant influx of reinforcements from the Warp, the Slaanesh banshees pouring out of the Webpath entrance were quickly wiped out.

When the last Slaanesh vanished into the air as purple smoke, the valley finally returned to peace.

But no one showed any joy of victory.

The Eldar warriors stood silently around the prophet's body, none of them making any unnecessary movements. A huge, bloody hole had been pierced in the prophet's chest by the Keeper's whip; the blood had stopped flowing, but a captivating fragrance from the Slaanesh's chambers still lingered. The eyes behind his helmet, which had once so intently searched for the threads of fate, were now completely unfocused.

Kelrod slowly walked forward, knelt on one knee beside the prophet's body, and gently removed a soulstone from his body.

The prophet's soulstone was covered in cracks. The soulstone, which should have shone with the warm light of the Eldar's soul, was now just a deathly gray-white.

"His soul... has been devoured by that monster." Kelros's voice was hoarse and low. Even without seeing the other's expression, Rhode could feel the suppressed anger and grief in his tone.

For the Eldar, being killed by the Slaanesh is one of the most terrible ways to die, because in such a situation, their Soulstones cannot protect their souls from being devoured by the Dark Prince.

The other Eldar warriors bowed their heads and mourned in their own way.

"We will bring him back to the Ark," a guardian said, his voice also filled with undisguised sorrow. "Although the Soulstone has lost its purpose, we will still place it in the Endless Corridor so that those who come after will remember his sacrifice."

Rhodes stood aside, silently watching all of this.

He wasn't good at comforting people, especially when it came to the Elven race, whom he didn't know well.

Just then, his gaze fell upon the arm on the ground that had been severed by the net.

The pale, slender arm remained unchanged, covered in pale purple scales, each finger resembling a finely crafted dagger. Most eerily, the arm was still twitching slightly, as if retaining some kind of life force.

Rhodes frowned. Unlike ordinary Slaanesh banshees, as the Keeper of the Secrets of the Slaanesh Archdaemons, even a severed arm contained extremely powerful warp power.

"This thing..." Rhodes muttered to himself, a sense of unease rising within him.

He didn't want to leave that arm in his territory; the hand didn't look completely dead and might come back to life any day, causing him more trouble.

Moreover, his system had already successfully unlocked the Protoss race shop by absorbing the energy of the network, and now he just happened to have someone to pass this dangerous thing out to.

Thinking of this, Rhodes turned to look at the Eldar who were still mourning and asked:

"Do you want this arm?"

As soon as he finished speaking, all the Spirit Race members turned their gazes to him.

Kylelos's body visibly stiffened.

"What did you say?"

"I said, do you want this Keeper's arm?" Rhodes repeated. "I don't want to keep it with me; it's too dangerous. You're Eldar; you should know how to deal with it, right?"

Silence, long silence.

The Eldar warriors looked at each other, as if they couldn't believe what they were hearing.

A wild monkey actually offered the guardian's arm to them?

It's important to understand that while the Keeper's severed limb is dangerous, it's invaluable material for studying the Great Enemy. With this arm, their Ark world can gain a deeper understanding of the Slaanesh's power structure and might even find new ways to fight them.

Originally, after their prophet died, the Eldar no longer had the ability to shut down the Web Channel. It was only because Rhodes touched the Web Channel that this disaster was stopped and they and the planet were saved.

Therefore, in the minds of these Eldar, this arm rightfully belongs to Rhodes himself.

And this savage monkey, after using some mysterious power to close the net and sever the guardian's arm, was actually willing to hand over this spoils of war.

Kellows gave Rhodes a deep look, and he began to re-examine the human before him.

If their previous cooperation was merely a matter of necessity, their perception of this human has now genuinely changed. In the Eldar's value system, resisting the temptations of a formidable enemy and generously gifting such precious and extremely dangerous research material to an ally surpasses the actions of most savage monkeys.

"Are you sure?" he asked, his voice carrying a subtle, complex emotion.

"Okay." Rhodes nodded. "Take it, I have no use for it anyway."

Moreover, the system didn't allow him to leave that thing behind.

Another silence followed.

Finally, Kelros slowly nodded, signaling a Bone Singer to step forward and put the arm into a specially made container.

"The remains of the keeper contain the essence of the great enemy."

The surviving Bonecaller stepped forward and said solemnly, "By studying it, our prophet may be able to find more ways to combat Slaanesh. This is a heavy gift for A.K.S."

He reached out and used his psychic energy to guide the spirit bone material in his hand, quickly creating a huge sealed container. He put the still struggling arm inside, and as the spirit bone container closed, the whispering sound emanating from the arm finally disappeared.

"Savage monkey." Kellos turned to look at Rhodes. "The world of Ai-Kes's Ark will not forget what happened here today. You have earned our respect, an honor that only a select few in your race can attain."

Then one of the accompanying Bone Singers stepped forward, infused his spiritual energy into the spirit bone in his hand, and crafted it into a small spear sculpture, which he then handed to Rhodes.

"I hope that when we meet again, it won't be on the battlefield." Kel'Thuzad left these last words, then turned and led the remaining Eldar warriors, the remains of their brethren, and the arm of the Slaanesh, slowly away from the valley.

Rhodes stood there, looking in the direction the Eldar had left, and let out a long sigh of relief.

In addition to the newly unlocked Protoss race shop, Rhodes could also feel that his connection with the Hive's psionic energy had deepened further.

Moreover, even without a communicator, Rhodes can now connect to the Marines' communication system using psionic energy and issue orders at any time.

"My Lord, are we just going to let them go like this?" Leonora walked up to Rhodes, her tone tinged with confusion.

"Let them go." Rhodes turned around and looked at the shop icon in his mind's consciousness space. "We've already obtained the most important thing."

Now that Esperan's warp and trade issues are resolved, he can finally focus on the planet's output and enhance his dynasty's influence.
