Chapter 37 I said this is my own bug, Neil Dorron?

Where were the corpses of these alien insects found?

Leonora lowered her massive and ferocious body slightly, her huge bone blade retracting behind her. Through the psionic link of the insect hive, she projected a clear image directly into Rhodes' mind.

It was a desolate mountain range located hundreds of kilometers away from a city center in Esperan, with towering peaks that acted as natural barriers, separating several agricultural areas of Esperan.

"It is deep within the mountains that humans on this planet call the 'Gray Ridge'."

Leonora's voice echoed in Rhodes's mind, carrying a hint of hostility toward those unknown enemies.

"The terrain there is complex, with jagged rocks, and there are no signs of any human activity."

Indeed, Esperan is a typical agricultural world, with most of its plains and hills cultivated into vast farmlands. However, in the northern half of the planet, there is a massive mountain range.

Due to the extremely low administrative efficiency of the Vandrick dynasty's departments and the exorbitantly expensive equipment prices charged by the Mechanicus, successive planetary governors have chosen to ignore this region.

The canyons here are deep and the magnetic field is chaotic. Even the modified servitude machines cannot enter while maintaining work efficiency, let alone large agricultural machinery.

Over time, this place became a forgotten enclave, with the core area remaining almost entirely in its original state.

"What are these Eldar doing here?"

After opening the system panel in his mind, Rhodes looked at the grayed-out "Command Center" icon and couldn't help but sigh.

It seems there's no time to summon SCVs, build command centers and barracks on this planet, and with Leonora already controlling a Zerg hive on Esperan, he wants to leave the Terran base in a more suitable location.

"There's no other way; I'll just have to make do with my savings."

With a thought, Rhodes reached for the button options on the system panel. Since there was no time to set up a production line, he would simply spend resource points to teleport the finished units to his side.

With a spatial distortion, accompanied by a heavy metallic clang and the hissing of the power armor's hydraulic system, a squad of fully armed soldiers appeared out of thin air in the insect hive.

It's the same familiar formula: two teams of Marines wearing heavy CMC power armor, gripping C-14 "Piercer" Gauss rifles weighing over 40 kilograms, along with a team of mobile Reapers and medics providing logistical support.

"Damn it! What kind of place is this?!"

As soon as a Marine landed, his combat suit's built-in systems went off like crazy. Seeing the crawling Zerglings around him and the undulating fungal carpet beneath his feet, he instinctively raised his Gauss rifle.

"Commander? This place is full of bugs! Fire! Prepare to fire!"

"hiss--!!"

Almost simultaneously, sensing the threat, Leonora abruptly straightened her upper body, letting out a sharp, psionic roar from her mouthparts.

The springtails and cockroaches that had been waiting around instantly went into battle mode, their scythe-like appendages scraping the ground, and countless glowing insect eyes staring intently at the uninvited guests who had suddenly appeared in the insect nest's territory.

The air was thick with tension, as if a bloody internal conflict was about to erupt at any moment.

"Stop it, all of you!"

Rhodes couldn't take it anymore.

"Leonora, stand back! That's my order!" Rhode used the psionic link to suppress the restless swarm of insects, then turned around and looked at the marines whose gun barrels were still trembling. "Put down your guns, soldiers. This is my territory. These insects... are friendly forces for now."

"Friendly forces? Commander, are you kidding me? These are Zerg! They're ruthless and cunning; countless people have died at their hands!"

Although the Marine lowered his gun, his tone was still full of disbelief and disgust.

Rhodes didn't want half of his team's fighting force to die at the hands of his own people before they even set off.

"Times have changed. There are many things worse than insects. Now, shut up and follow orders."

Immediately afterwards, Rhodes gave Leonora an order through the hive's psionic energy: "Leonora, gather the remaining Zerglings and Roach, and also send over a worker bee to follow my orders."

After petting the worker bee, which was as big as a small car, Rhodes casually clicked on a mysterious building.

Despite the twists and turns, under Rhodes's orders, the mixed force managed to maintain order.

However, the Marines still looked at the Zerglings with disdain and wariness, and even deliberately kept their distance during the march. The Zerglings would occasionally let out low growls at their comrades. But under Rhodes' leadership, this mixed human and Zerg team still headed towards the Grayridge Mountains.

As the team ventured deeper into the mountains, the surrounding environment began to change strangely. In the valley covered with lush vegetation, the air was not fresh, but filled with a cloyingly sweet fragrance.

A Reaper activated his jetpack, leaped onto a boulder, and began scouting.

"Hostile reaction detected; numerous unknown signals approaching from ahead!"

Before the words were finished, a group of alluring yet extremely distorted creatures rushed out of the mist ahead.

Those were hordes of Slaanesh, brandishing their enormous crab claws, charging towards Rhodes's army with elegant yet deadly dance steps.

As Leonora stated, the closer one gets to the depths of the mountains, the greater the number of these warp demons.

"Swarm! Tear them apart. The rest of you, open fire!"

The battle erupted instantly. Thick-skinned cockroaches stood at the forefront, their hard shells withstanding the first wave of Slaanesh's assault. Acid spurted from their mouthparts, corroding the demon's blasphemous flesh, while swarms of leaping insects, like a pack of mad hounds, bit down hard on the enemy's vulnerable joints.

"Die, monster!"

The pent-up emotions of the Marines in the rear finally found an outlet, their C-14 Gauss rifles spitting out dazzling tongues of fire. A dense barrage of bullets created a firestorm, tearing the Slaanesh Banshees attempting to breach the swarm's defenses to shreds. The medics, meanwhile, watched the battlefield intently, ready to treat the wounded, though their primary focus was on the human soldiers.

Using the terrain to their advantage, the Reapers leaped back and forth across the rock face, their pistols precisely targeting the lone demons. With each shot, a lone Slaanesh banshee would fall.

With the Zerg acting as meat shields and the humans providing ranged firepower, this mixed force easily thwarted the first wave of Slaanesh banshees.

Finally, after the last wave of demons screamed and dissipated, Rhodes and his group arrived at an open valley. The air here was no longer filled with that sweet yet nauseating smell, as if someone had cleared the area beforehand.

"That's..." Rhodes squinted and saw several corpses lying haphazardly on the gravel ground in front of him.

He strode forward and saw several tall, slender warriors clad in streamlined spirit bone armor. Their helmets were cone-shaped, and their armor was predominantly a deep green, accented with touches of mysterious purple.

"The Ark World of Ai-Kes?"

Rhodes recalled the name of an Eldar faction; these Eldar warriors had clearly been through a fierce battle, their armor made of spirit bones covered in scratches and cracks.

Just as Rod crouched down, preparing to examine one of the corpses in detail, an extremely dangerous premonition surged into his mind.

His survival instinct made him instinctively want to lean back, but the other person was just too fast.

A blurry afterimage flashed by, and then, a cold touch pressed against his throat.

It was a spear that emitted a faint buzzing sound, the kind of spear used by most Eldar war shamans, its metal-carved tip reflecting Rhodes' slightly surprised face.

Suddenly, a tall, fully armed Eldar appeared to his side and behind him. His face was completely covered by an Eldar helmet, revealing no expression except for the light emanating from the helmet's visors, which betrayed his inner rage.

"Don't move, you wild monkey."

The Eldar's voice came through his helmet, carrying the Eldar's arrogant pride and murderous intent. He scrutinized the human before him, then thrust his spear forward slightly, piercing a small patch of skin on Rhodes' neck.

"It seems... you're not just a bug in monkey skin, but the fact that you're hanging out with these Tyranids disgusts me even more."
