Chapter 11 Solving the Anti-Aircraft Gun

The Space Marine, a believer in Slaanesh, whirled around. Outside the swarm of cockroaches, a massive insect, nearly three meters tall, with a bloated abdomen and a thick, armored head, was staring at him. Moreover, this creature was emanating psionic energy that he had never seen before.

This is the important guardian of the Zerg hatchery, a unit that can be promoted to the position of a Zerg hive controller, the Queen.

After Rhodes discovered there was a can of Chaos here, he had already begun preparations for it, but the Queen of Insects moved at a snail's pace outside the creep, so getting her there was a problem.

So Rhodes also brought in the Queen Worm.

After merging with the Zerg, these floating behemoths evolved a new ability: to dissolve their own regenerable internal organs, transforming them into a fungal carpet that is expelled from their bodies and forms a temporary fungal carpet on the ground.

On the creep, however, the queen's speed is completely different from before.

Several pairs of webbed feet with sharp spines can precisely wed within the honeycomb-like filamentous structure of the fungal carpet, gliding directly over this gray mucus at a speed only slightly slower than that of springtails, which are known for their agility.

This is really troublesome.

The Chaos Space Marine, who worshipped Slaanesh, cursed inwardly but remained silent. In order to serve the Prince of Pleasure, he had voluntarily stripped himself of his sense of taste and vocal cords in exchange for more acute other senses.

He raised his molten gun again and fired at the towering queen, while the cockroaches around him swarmed forward, using their bodies to block the muzzle of the flaming gun.

The familiar screams rang out again. The Chaos Space Marine, whose original name was Travis, remained expressionless and continued to fire flames forward. Once he had burned the remaining thick-armored beetles to death, he would then go and cut the larger beetle into pieces.

But the screams didn't stop this time. Travis watched as the insectoid creature with psionic energy rippled backward and then suddenly sprayed red liquid forward.

The viscous red protein fluid was sprayed directly onto the cockroach that was being scorched by the flames and quickly seeped into its body. The cockroach, which was about to collapse, suddenly raised its head and launched a fierce attack on Travis.

Black charcoal was continuously squeezed out from the cracks in the cockroach's carapace, and new flesh replaced the charred parts, allowing the cockroaches to fight again.

Even worse, in addition to the liquid sprayed at the cockroaches, spines filled with strong acid and imbued with psionic energy were also shot out one after another. Travis, who was already dealing with the cockroach attack, also had to divert his energy to deal with the other side's attack.

In a moment of carelessness as he turned around, a cockroach's spit hit him directly in the abdomen.

A sizzling sound came from its abdomen. Travis swung his chainsaw sword, slicing off nearly a third of the cockroach's body. The severely injured cockroach collapsed to the ground, its limbs still twitching slightly.

But then another spray of red liquid landed on it, and the cockroach shakily got up from the ground.

This is never going to end.

Travis picked up the pyrotechnic gun, intending to deliver another burst of flame before the other party could recover. His strong fingers pulled the trigger, but this time no blazing flames emerged from the muzzle.

Having already roasted hundreds of Zerg, and with the tug-of-war with the Zerg Queen, Travis's fuel reserves were completely depleted, and his molten gun had turned into a large piece of scrap metal.

Travis had no choice but to raise his chainsaw sword and charge directly at the Queen.

Without the suppression of the high-temperature flames, the cockroaches' attacks became unrestrained. They spat, used bone blades, and bit, all their attacks raining down like a storm. Meanwhile, outside the cockroaches, the springtails that had finished cleaning up the battlefield had already surrounded them.

The swarm of insects formed a small mountain that completely surrounded Travis. Even though each strike could cut several zebras in half, he was getting more and more serious wounds. Even though the corrupted gene seed gave him super regenerative abilities, he couldn't heal all his wounds at the same time in the face of the swarm's almost overwhelming presence.

When Travis reached the Queen, his body was covered in wounds and bloody holes. With his last bit of strength, he raised the spinning chainsaw sword in his hand, preparing to cut the creature in front of him, which was similar to the Norn Queen but much smaller, in half.

The massive bone blade, imbued with psionic power, pierced through the already battered terracotta power armor, simultaneously piercing both of his hearts. The chainsaw sword in his hand fell to the metal floor with a heavy thud.

Before his soul was swallowed by the dark currents of the warp, Travis saw the creature look down at him, its nerve tendrils on the back of its head swaying in the air, and words transmitted through psychic energy echoing in his mind.

"You are very powerful, human, but you are fighting against the Zerg swarm."

With Travis's strong, two-meter-tall body falling, there was no longer any threat around the anti-aircraft gun emplacement.

[The rebels around the anti-aircraft gun have been eliminated, the Chaos Space Marine crisis has been resolved, and the bonus reward is 5000 Universal Energy.]

This time, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. This Chaos Can actually gave him 5000 Universal Energy. After hearing the system notification, Rhodes couldn't help but be overjoyed.

However, they were indeed difficult to deal with. If I hadn't dragged the queen from the hatchery over, this operation would probably have failed completely.

As Rhode pondered this, he directed the swarm away from the scene and prepared to go to the bridge to notify Aria to send soldiers to land on the planet's surface.

Just then, a psionic communication from the Queen of Insects made him stop what he was doing.

"Overlord of the Swarm, I've discovered something strange inside that human. It contains a powerful force. What are your plans for dealing with it?"

"What is it?"

Rhodes directly used the psionic link to observe what the Queen had taken from the Chaos Space Marine's body.

A hard, black gland, covered with blood vessels and nerves, as well as unidentified purple patterns, was undoubtedly the gene gland of the Chaos Space Marine, containing one of the Imperium's most precious assets: the gene seeds from the Primarchs.

However, the gene seed in front of them had clearly been corrupted and contaminated by the power of the warp. The Imperial apothecaries would never attempt to recover or use a seed that had been corrupted by the Chaos God.

At the moment, Rhodes didn't have any better solutions, so he could only casually instruct the Queen:

"Keep this safe, it might come in handy later."

Rhodes then entered the elevator to his private bedroom, pressed the button to go to the bridge, and turned on his personal communicator.

"Aliya, gather the soldiers and prepare to land on Esperan. The threat of anti-aircraft guns has been eliminated."
