Erii: A Journey Through the Heavens Begins with Frilian
Chapter 31 An Ordinary Afternoon for an Ordinary Girl
Shutark? ???
Even injured, our junior sister is still so fierce. She truly deserves to be the woman who slays the dragon!
He landed amidst the villagers' throng, his face showing a mixture of bewilderment, relief, shock, and fear.
Confused as to why the unicorn black rhinoceros had suddenly died, but relieved that the villagers were all safe and sound, he thought to himself how lucky it was that Frilian and her group had arrived.
Shocked by Erii's effortless and outrageous methods, and deeply terrified by that intangible killing intent, his body was forced into a state of full alert.
"You did it, that's quite brave," Philon said reluctantly, offering his praise.
"It was my junior sister who killed him; I was at most an accomplice," Hugh Tarek said honestly, not caring who got the credit.
"No," Erii said, "it was already killed by you before I could even make a move."
Hugh Tarek waved his hand, "Don't joke around, don't I know my own level?"
“I’m not kidding,” Frillian added, “You really did kill them, and you saved their lives once again.”
Shutark stood there stunned for a long time, then pointed at himself, "Me?"
After this battle, not only Shutark, but also Erii and her two companions became honored guests in the village, where they rested for two days with free food and drink.
On the morning of the third day, the four waved goodbye amidst the tearful farewell of the entire village.
It wasn't until noon that we found a place in the woods to eat.
The freshly baked maple wheat bread delivered by the villagers that morning, paired with craft wine, offered a unique flavor.
Erii really enjoyed the combination of these two fermented foods in her mouth, which gave her a raw and essential sense of satisfaction. After all, she used to eat finer things like Kobe beef from Hyogo (A5 grade), bluefin tuna from Aomori, and tiger pufferfish from Nagasaki.
"Ms. Frilian, let me try." Philon put down the magic book in his hand and stuffed the last piece of bread into his mouth.
"Okay," Frillie obediently stood up, opening her arms to face Philon. "How is it? Can you see through things?"
Philon stared at it for a while, "It's possible, but this magic isn't very interesting~"
"I'm so sorry, my body isn't very interesting." Frillie's voice carried a faint sense of death, seemingly indifferent to joy or sorrow, but actually tinged with resentment.
Then, Philon turned to Shutark and slowly moved his gaze from top to bottom.
"What's wrong?" he asked, looking up at him.
"So small," Philon said calmly, with a hint of disdain.
"It's not small at all!" Hugh Tarek retorted speechlessly.
"What about me?" Erii leaned closer to Philon.
Philon patted her head. "There's no need for you to see through me, since you have to strip naked in front of us every night anyway."
"Is this something I can hear?" Shutark couldn't help but complain.
The pleasant chat after the meal came to an end.
Frillian asked again, "Are you going back to Azer, or are you coming with us?"
Hugh Tarek didn't think much of it, stretched, and said, "After three years here, I'm also looking forward to a boring trip."
That afternoon, Erii and her group arrived at the fortress city of Val.
This city is an important gateway between the central kingdoms and the northern continent, and also a vital barrier against demons and monsters.
After entering the city, they learned from the guards that the monsters in the northern countries had been very active recently, and the bloodshed caused by the monsters was frequent. Therefore, they were strictly prohibited from leaving the city, and even caravans engaged in cross-border trade were not allowed to leave.
They inquired everywhere, but through various channels such as the merchant guild, the thieves' association, and the adventurers' tavern, they were unable to find a way out of the city. Instead, they received the bad news that they might be restricted for two years.
"Can't we fly over there?" Erii asked.
"Anti-fly magic has been deployed in many places in the northern countries, mainly to prevent the spread of flying monsters," Philon explained.
"We can't even go through the mountains and forests?" Erii pointed to the rolling mountains outside the city.
"There are soldiers patrolling; if you're caught, you'll go to jail," Philon replied.
Erii scratched her head, looked at the city wall, and asked, "Shall I lead you through?"
"Junior sister does have a wildness that doesn't match her appearance," said Hugh Tarek, calmly giving a thumbs up.
"Um, Miss Erii, we can't break the law," Philon reached out and rubbed Erii's cheek. "I don't want to come back from the North as a wanted criminal."
At this moment, the three noticed a rare smile on Frillie's face and immediately assumed that this veteran adventurer had a solution.
Unexpectedly, Frillie said with barely suppressed joy, "This place looks pretty safe. Let's wait here for a while. It's been so long since I've had the chance to focus on studying magic. After putting my luggage away at the inn, I'll head over to the magic shop! Hey~"
She almost burst out laughing at the end, but thankfully she managed to hold it back.
Philon stared at Frilian with a serious expression, his meaning unspoken.
Two years is but a blink of an eye for elves, but it is one thirty-fifth of a human's time.
"Ahem," Frillie's smile faded, "What? What can I do if you don't open the door?"
Then she waved her hand, "Disperse here, free to do as you please."
He then rushed off to the magic shop he had targeted upon entering the city, leaving the three bewildered people behind.
……
The thought of possibly waiting here for two years filled Philon with resentment. She said she would wander around alone to clear her head and think of other ideas.
Hugh Tarek, on the other hand, was more carefree and headed straight for a tavern he used to frequent with his master when he was a child, muttering something about a super giant berry ice cream.
Erii stood in the bustling street with its throngs of people and suddenly realized that she was not as helpless and lost as before.
Once, she found herself standing on the bustling streets of Tokyo, feeling so helpless that she could only weep silently, not even daring to cry out loud.
Now, that extreme sense of loneliness has vanished, or rather, it has been buried deep in my heart.
She touched the coins in her pocket, feeling a clear purpose, a genuine desire, and a tangible sense of satisfaction.
goooo~
Thunder rumbled in his lower abdomen at just the right moment.
Without saying a word, Erii went into a nearby restaurant and ordered braised beef brisket with cherry tomatoes, roasted pork knuckle, black pepper roasted meat wraps, and vegetable salad.
Amidst the surprised prying eyes of the surrounding diners, Erii, still not satisfied, devoured the entire table of food, and even ordered a large pancake, thoroughly soaking the sauce off the plate.
When the chef came out and saw this scene, he was so happy that his mouth turned up wide, and he insisted that the owner give Erii a 20% discount.
After eating until she was about 80% full, Erii ordered a chocolate mille-feuille cake and hot matcha milk at the dessert shop diagonally across the street, and packed two more pastries to go before leaving.
After completely calming her tummy, she leisurely strolled around the streets.
Like an ordinary girl, try on all kinds of sparkly bracelets, rings or necklaces in a jewelry store, pick out your favorite from the pile and pay for it.
I threw away my ripped T-shirt and shorts and bought a coat and scarf suitable for crossing snow-capped mountains to keep warm, as well as a pair of furry boots.
"Meow~ Meow~"
The cute meowing of a cat attracted passersby to peek into the alley.
However, the sound was not from a kitten, but it was even better than a kitten's.
Erii squatted in the alley where miscellaneous items were stored, meowing incessantly, holding a small dried fish in her hand, constantly enticing the mysterious creature hidden in the cardboard box.
Meow~~~
A large, fat cat with orange and white fur lazily walked out.
Instead of immediately devouring the dried fish, it tugged at Erii's foot and nudged her hand with its round head before taking a bite and tearing at the dried fish like a wild beast.
Finally, the big fat cat jumped into Erii's arms and fell asleep contentedly.
Erii held it, sat on the steps in front of the shop, propped her chin up, watched people come and go, and enjoyed the quiet time alone.
The temperature is 24℃, and the sun is shining brightly.
It was an ordinary afternoon.
It was just an ordinary afternoon for a girl.
