Erii: A Journey Through the Heavens Begins with Frilian

Chapter 29 Clearly Strong Yet Excessively Cowardly

Hugh Tarek leaned to the side and decisively hugged Frilian's leg, crying so pitifully that her face was streaked with tears.

"Thank you so much! For three whole years, do you know how terrified I've been? I haven't had a single good night's sleep!"

Philon was completely bewildered, staring at Hugh Tarek with utter disdain. "What's this guy doing?"

"Just as I thought," Frillie said with a helpless pursed lips, "Have you ever fought a monster?"

"Not at all, Lady Frillien!" Hugh Tarck dropped all pretense, the aloof and handsome man from before completely vanished.

Stared at by Philon's murderous gaze, he awkwardly lowered his hands, dusted off his trousers, and sat back down on the rock.

Of course, it was only at this moment that he revealed his true self.

The turning point was Frilian.

Perhaps in Shutark's eyes, Frilian, who had fought alongside his master to defeat the Demon King, was a trustworthy and reliable elder.

In short, they're family, so why pretend in front of family?

"Tell me, what exactly happened?" Frillian asked.

Then, Shutark began to explain in detail.

The whole story is quite simple. He did muster up the courage to rush forward and stand in front of the villagers, but when he faced the Red Mirror Dragon, he was so frightened that he trembled all over and didn't know what to do.

To his surprise and dismay, after examining itself, the Red Mirror Dragon inexplicably turned and flew away, presumably having changed its mind and no longer wanting to destroy the town.

Before his legs gave way and he collapsed to the ground, the villagers rushed over, picked him up, treated him like a hero, and fed him the best food and drink.

Thus, fearing that the village would be attacked again by the Red Mirror Dragon, Shutark stayed there for three years.

He knew he was not weak, but he also felt that he definitely couldn't defeat the Red Mirror Dragon. Coupled with his naturally timid and cowardly personality, he simply couldn't muster the courage to fight the Red Mirror Dragon.

"Ms. Frilian, is he really Mr. Aize's apprentice?" Philen asked, his face dark and full of doubt.

"Genuine, no doubt about it." Hugh Tarek's emotions calmed down.

"So, my master sent you to find me? What is it about?" he asked.

"We need to travel through the northern kingdoms to the resting place of souls in the far north. Azer wants you to come with us," Frilian said bluntly.

"Traveling with you is fine, since the dragon is dead and I don't need to stay here any longer," Huthark asked again, "but what is this resting place for souls?"

"Heaven," Erii replied.

Shutark tilted his head, revealing a dazed look, and said with a wronged expression, "I'm still young, I don't want to die."

Philon stared at him as if he were an idiot, and said helplessly, "Ms. Frilian, did Mr. Aize say anything else? Like, that this guy isn't very smart or something?"

"Alright, alright, it doesn't matter, I'll stay with you guys." Shutark waved his hand, giving Philon a resentful glance.

Philon pouted and met his gaze defiantly, as if trying to kill Hughtark with his eyes.

As they chatted, Erii noticed a long, narrow "canyon" behind Shutark.

A huge crack suddenly appears on the mountainside, large enough for four or five people to walk in side by side.

Furthermore, the edges of the cracks do not appear to have been torn apart by geological activity, but rather resemble those carved by human hands.

She turned her head to look at the double-bladed giant axe at Shutark's feet, her eyes widening slightly as she asked, "Did you chop this up?"

Shutark nodded calmly. "Yeah, so what?"

Philon peered out in surprise. The crack was quite deep, and the mountain wall was nearly twenty meters high. It must have been carved out by a single cold weapon.

Frillie's expression remained unchanged.

She wasn't surprised, because Shutark was a disciple whom Aze was very satisfied with and highly praised.

The master and apprentice had a conflict and quarrel. After sensing the danger, Aize's body's instinctive defense mechanism was triggered instantly, and he subconsciously attacked Shutalk, causing Shutalk to go out and wander in anger.

Frilian judged that, setting aside experience and personality, in terms of pure combat strength alone, Hughtark was probably 80% of Aize's level, or even higher!

She felt that it was probably because he had been unilaterally bullied by Azer, a top warrior, since childhood that Shutark did not have a clear understanding of his own strength. Also, because he was too timid and afraid of monsters, he had no concept of the external standards of combat power.

"Come on, chop one up for me to see, so Aize can check if you've been slacking off," Frilian said, still wanting to confirm it with her own eyes.

Shutark scratched his head, silently picked up his double-edged axe, and walked to the deepest part.

Raise both hands high, unify waist and hips, and exhale like a dragon.

A single axe stroke!

bang——

A platinum-gold beam shot straight into the sky, and with a deafening roar, the gap was cleaved inward by three or four meters!

Hugh Tarek unleashed a series of powerful strikes.

With tremendous force, stones larger than a person fell down like a rushing stream.

Shutark stopped what he was doing, turned around, and asked, "Is it done?"

Erii sensed the overwhelming force of the mountain-splitting energy and realized that brute force alone would be enough to give the Crimson Mirror Dragon a run for its money.

Philon stared in astonishment at the deepest part of the mountain, where the rock strata were a deep, dark red, like scorching magma.

It's hard to imagine how terrifyingly hot Shutark's slash was.

"So he's actually very capable, just too cowardly," Philon said. "Ms. Frilian, is it really a good idea to have him come with us? Eri is a bit of a visionary..."

Frillie yawned. "Philan, wasn't your first monster hunt pretty much the same? I remember you were so scared you were practically crawling on the ground..."

Philon fell silent and turned his head away angrily.

Shutark stepped forward. "I train every day, so I can handle ordinary monsters, but don't expect me to fight dragons."

"You have absolutely no self-awareness," Frilian said.

"If I had any self-awareness, I would never have faced the Red Mirror Dragon. I was no match for it, yet I still went to my death. It was incredibly stupid," Hughtark replied with a bitter face.

She said you're very strong; you can kill a dragon with a single axe stroke.

He said, "I know I'm weak and incompetent, you don't need to point it out."

Even Erii was amazed by this guy's brain circuitry.

Despite being incredibly strong, he was excessively timid, so he spent three years splitting the mountain, creating deafening noises every day, which scared Red Mirror Dragon so much that he dared not step into the village.

Why do I feel a little sorry for the Red Mirror Dragon?

"By the way, Erii studied with Aize for a while, so she's practically your junior sister," Frilian added.

"Junior sister?!" Hugh Tarek stared at Erii in astonishment. "Thanks to you, junior sister, you got me out of that predicament... So, Master thinks I'm a worthless disciple..."

Erii shook her head and said, "Mr. Aize said you're great."

"Really? I do miss that old man a bit." When he's serious, he's quite serious, and he also has a bit of a handsome vibe.

Unfortunately, his tearful appearance just now was like a brand that could not be erased, making it impossible to look at him normally, especially for Philon, who had already labeled him a crybaby.

Thump—thump—

Suddenly, a loud, urgent bell rang out from the village below, startling a large flock of birds in the woods.

Shutalk's expression changed drastically. "Are you sure you killed the dragon? You watched it vanish?"

"Yes," Philon replied.

Puzzled, Shutalk picked up his battle axe and sped down the mountain, shouting, "Come with me, something's happened in the village!"
