Chapter 15 Elven Bloodline
Chapter 15 Elven Bloodline (Please continue reading)
"Yes, Melo, I also support Hans's opinion this time. A newcomer with no mission experience, even if he is a good archer, it would be good if he could get half of our share." A blond boy holding a short staff clearly also supported Hans's opinion.
"But I've already agreed." Meiluo stopped mid-sentence.
The two boys followed Meiluo's gaze and saw a handsome young man holding a short bow, quietly watching them. The man was Richard.
"Senior, let's leave my treatment to this senior. I have no objection to how it's allocated!" As soon as these words were spoken, the two boys' impression of Richard improved considerably.
For Richard, the main purpose of participating in this mission was to obtain energy points, not points or magic stones.
Seeing this, Meiluo felt even more sorry for Richard. She had invited him, but the treatment she had promised Richard was not agreed upon.
"Oh, you all arrived so early! Looks like I'm the last one. Is this handsome young man the helper you called, Meiluo?" The silver-haired girl who had been listening to Richard earlier walked over with a smile, her large bow, as tall as a person, on her back quite eye-catching.
"Kalina, you've finally arrived!" This gave the seemingly alone and helpless Meiluo a helper. She pulled the silver-haired girl aside and whispered something to her, while the silver-haired girl nodded repeatedly.
A moment later, Karina stepped forward and said, "Hans, Nikoloz, what do you think of this? If the young man performs well during the mission, we'll give him the treatment of a full-fledged team member, as Meiluo suggested. If his performance is average or not very good, we'll halve his treatment. How about that?"
Hans and Nickloo exchanged a glance. Neither of them had any objections to Karina's suggestion, and they immediately expressed their agreement.
"And you, handsome young man?" Karina asked Richard.
"I have no objection either," Richard stated.
Having reached a consensus, Hans stood up first, and the group of five prepared to set off. Meiluo then walked over to Richard and briefly told him about each person's strengths.
Hans, a near-knight level fighter, is skilled with a sword and shield and has mastered a rudimentary level zero sorcery called "Weakening Spell." He is the squad leader and tank.
Nicolo has mastered the level zero sorcery skills [Summon Skeletons] and [Shadow Shock], both at a rudimentary level.
The rudimentary level means that one can successfully cast spells, but has not yet mastered the incantation technique, requires several seconds of casting time, and lacks knowledge about spell channeling, so it can only hit enemies with slower movement speeds.
Meiluo herself has mastered the level zero sorcery [Slow] and [Lesser Shadow Bolt]. She has reached the proficient level with Slow and the rudimentary level with Lesser Shadow Bolt.
Karina, a silver-haired girl, possesses a faint elven bloodline. She is skilled with a longbow and has mastered the spells [Slow] and [Fear], both at a proficient level.
Upon hearing this, Richard understood why Hans and Nickloh had objections to his treatment.
Judging from Hans's strength, at only 16 years old, he is already stronger than Richard's 17-year-old brother. It is conceivable that before coming to the Ignis School, he must have been one of the local geniuses.
It's perfectly normal for a gifted young man to be a bit arrogant and not to acknowledge his own abilities as a newcomer.
There was also Karina's elven bloodline, a term that was another blind spot in his knowledge. He wanted to ask Meiluo about it, but clearly, now was not the right time.
Richard decided that after completing the mission, he would go to the school library to brush up on his general knowledge.
Before the group entered the swamp, Hans stopped, turned around and said, "Let me first introduce our mission this time - [Clean up the Crystal Web Spiders]."
The mission location is on a path southwest of the Muddy Swamp. The number of Crystal Web Spiders there has increased rather rapidly recently. As per the mission requirements, we only need to eliminate three Crystal Web Spiders to receive a reward of 20 points and 20 Magic Stones.
As Hans spoke, he took out a map and pointed to several red dots on it, saying, "We need to avoid these places. The monsters marked with red dots are basically beyond the capabilities of our team. I spent five magic stones to buy this from a familiar level two wizard apprentice. It's the latest map and should be reliable."
If all goes well, we can kill a few more Crystal Web Spiders.
Because the Crystal Web Spider usually has unsprayed Crystal Web Spider Silk inside its body, a single clump is worth three magic stones. However, the silk after it has been sprayed changes its properties, and its price drops significantly, to about one magic stone.
Richard listened attentively, after all, this was his first mission outside the country, and he didn't know much about the situation.
However, at first glance, hunting monsters, while risky, can indeed yield substantial rewards.
"Oh, by the way, one more thing, the mission token is the venom sac of the Crystal Web Spider. Now, does anyone have any questions? If not, let's set off," Hans said.
Everyone shook their heads, indicating that there was no problem.
"Then let's go. I'll go first, with Melo and Nicolo in the middle, and Karina and Richard behind." After Hans finished speaking, he took the lead and drew a sharp half-sword to clear the way.
As they ventured deeper into the swamp, the stench of putrid mud assaulted their nostrils.
Along with this came all sorts of strange and unusual animal cries. The vines and broad-leaved plants everywhere provided easy cover for apex predators, and for a time, the caravan moved very slowly.
Although Hans held a steel shield in his left hand, he was cautious and always on guard against a sudden attack.
The group, who had been chatting all the way, fell silent.
"Whoosh!" Suddenly, a dark shadow darted out of the mud and rushed straight to Hans' side, its gaping maw about to bite Hans in the waist.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!" Just as Hans dodged to the side, two arrows, one black and one white, one short and one long, struck the shadow almost simultaneously.
The shadowy figure froze instantly. Hans looked closely and saw that a five-meter-long, sharp-toothed crocodile had been hit by two arrows almost simultaneously!
One white arrow pierced the forehead, while a black arrow struck the neck, instantly killing this top-tier swamp predator.
Although the fanged crocodile is merely a wild beast, it is among the best of the best. Even a typical first-level wizard apprentice would have a hard time dealing with it!
Hans immediately gave a thumbs-up to Karina and Richard at the back of the group.
Hans, in particular, began to look at Richard with new respect.
Judging from that arrow just now, it's clear that Meiluo's assessment of Richard's archery skills was not exaggerated at all; in fact, it should be said that she was being somewhat conservative.
The silver-haired girl, Karina, stared wide-eyed at Richard beside her and asked in surprise, "Richard, who taught you archery?"
