A priest in North America, what the hell is the Demon Gate system?
Chapter 26 The Priest and the Irishman
Li Ang stood at the door of the prefabricated house, watching Wang Bingbing walk out while making a phone call.
She changed her clothes, wearing dark gray work pants and a black windbreaker, all from Bonebird. She also wore a white safety helmet. Gone was the elite office lady look she had during the day; she looked more like an engineer preparing to go to the site to supervise the dust removal.
"Father Li, you're very punctual." Wang Bingbing put away her phone and glanced at the watch on her wrist. Li Ang squinted and saw that it was a Huazi brand watch, and the phone was the three-fold model.
To be honest, if the system hadn't warned him beforehand that leaving America and returning to China would be considered treason and would result in his immediate execution, Li Ang would have bought a plane ticket and flown back to China long ago.
"Damn, with my looks, if I went back to China, did a live stream, and said something like, 'Our demolition was amazing,' I'd be showered with gifts and instantly become financially independent, okay?"
Li Ang could only think about it to himself, and touched the iPhone 6 Plus in his pocket, whose screen was already cracked in one corner.
"The Lord taught us to keep our promises." Li Ang snapped out of his thoughts and smiled in response.
"Hey, Miss Wang!"
At that moment, an obese white man walked over from the RV parking area next door.
The man was probably in his early forties, with a large, bulbous nose and sparse, oily red hair stuck to his scalp.
He looked Li Ang up and down, then gave him a cryptic smile.
"A priest? You Chinese people believe in this now?"
The man had a heavy accent, the kind of accent typical of Irish Americans.
"The Lord will treat everyone equally." Li Ang smiled.
"This is Peter Griffin, the project's engineering manager," Wang Bingbing said gently as she stepped forward to introduce him to Li Ang.
"Hehe, Miss Wang, didn't I say there's no need to invite these charlatans over? My young men can handle everything."
The foreman named Pete was clearly no pushover. He spat on the ground and his eyes slid down to Wang Bingbing, scanning her chest, waist, and hips.
"Pete, I hope you know who's paying your salaries." Wang Bingbing's voice turned cold.
"I know, I know, Boss." Pete raised his hands, but his face still wore a disgusting smile.
"But I have to go along, because if something happens at the construction site, I'll be responsible. And if this priest causes any trouble, I'll have to clean up his mess, haha."
"I thought that, given your style, you would hire some decisive and efficient people to do things," Li Ang said to Wang Bingbing with a sudden smile, but in standard Chinese.
Wang Bingbing was taken aback, then gave a wry smile and replied in Chinese, "If it weren't for the new Pennsylvania law that requires hiring local American teams in order to cooperate with the so-called American re-industrialization, I would never have hired this kind of person."
As Wang Bingbing spoke, she glanced down at Pete with a look of disgust.
Li Ang glanced over as well, smiled knowingly, and nodded, saying, "This person is indeed quite Tang, and the Binzhou government is truly finished."
"Hey! What are you saying?" Although Pete couldn't understand Chinese, he could at least read their eyes. His subconscious told him that these two seemed to be talking to him.
"It's nothing, Mr. Pete, we were just praising your professionalism."
"Really? I think so too, haha."
Li Ang joked, but he knew perfectly well that Irish and Chinese laborers had a long history of conflict due to job competition, with bloodshed being commonplace.
So Li Ang wasn't surprised that the Irishman had this attitude.
"Father Li, the exorcism documents are ready!"
At that moment, Nia jogged over from the car, carrying a box containing exorcism items in one hand and a folder in the other.
Pete's gaze immediately swept over again, his expression lewd.
"Father, who is this?" Wang Bingbing asked. When they went to the church before, the two of them only exchanged a glance from a distance, since Nia was preparing food at the time and did not talk much.
"My assistant, Sister Nia." Li Ang's voice remained calm as he glanced at Pete, his right index finger already unconsciously extending.
A faint, dark red aura swirled around his fingertips, and a murderous glint flashed in Li Ang's eyes.
"A guy who looks at people with such lewd eyes every day, maybe we should just find a chance to get rid of him."
Li Ang was immediately startled by his own thoughts. When did he start being so violent? Could he really be the Holy Body of the Demonic Sect?
"Hehe, there's a convent in my hometown of Cork County too, the nuns there have so much fun..."
"what!"
Before Pete could finish speaking, he suddenly clutched his head and screamed, then collapsed to his knees, trembling.
Li Ang stepped forward, smiling, and patted him on the shoulder.
"Mr. Pete, are you alright?"
At the same time, Li Ang chuckled inwardly: "Damn it, if I can't deal with a corpse refiner, can't I deal with you? How does it feel to be attacked with divine sense?"
Revenge should not be delayed overnight. Recalling Han Laomo's method of attacking with his divine sense, Li Ang imitated it and concentrated his divine sense to strike the guy's head hard.
"Ah...ah...I...I'm fine!!"
Pete struggled to his feet, his head buzzing, but not wanting to appear weak in front of others, he forced himself to stand up.
Li Ang didn't make things difficult for him anymore. Instead, he looked up at the sky. The moon had just risen, and it felt as if a thin mist had risen in the forest, with a fuzzy halo around the edge of the moon.
The distant railway tracks were faintly visible, their rust a dark red, like dried blood.

Li Ang glanced at the system's reward, nodded silently, and turned to look at Wang Bingbing and Nia. He noticed that Wang Bingbing was carefully reading the long exorcism disclaimer before signing it after confirming that everything was correct.
"Let's go." Li Ang waved to them, then turned around, picked up the exorcism case, and gazed at the distant forest.
"Is it just my imagination? It feels like the fog is getting thicker."
-----------------
The four walked along the railway tracks into the depths of the forest, with Li Ang leading the way, Nia following closely behind, Wang Bingbing in the middle, and Pete bringing up the rear.
Footsteps rustled on the gravel beside the sleepers, an abandoned traffic light lay askew to one side, and the pitch-black night seemed ready to devour people.
"Construction on this railway began in 1876, with Chinese laborers making up 90% of the workforce. There were accidents before, but the specific causes were not recorded; all that is known is that they caused many injuries and deaths." Wang Bingbing explained the railway information as she walked, her voice particularly clear in the quiet night.
"God..." Nia silently clenched the crucifix and prayed.
Suddenly, Li Ang stopped and turned to look at the three people behind him.
"Have you guys noticed that this traffic light looks familiar?"
