Chapter 33 "A Chance Encounter"

Chapter 33 "A Chance Encounter"

"So, why did you come to Hell's Kitchen?"

Tony, eating a cheeseburger, asked Xia Ling with a puzzled look, while Natasha and the old village chief followed behind them.

"Oh, Stark, would you believe me if I said I just came here to see the beautiful scenery?"

You're kidding me!

Tony rolled his eyes. Who would believe such nonsense? They really don't consider him a super genius, do they?

"It seems you don't believe me. Fine, then I'll tell you the real reason. I have a feeling I'll see some extraordinary person again."

A premonition?

And you still say you're not a prophet!

Tony muttered to himself, becoming even more convinced that Director Xia of S.H.I.E.L.D. was Yahweh's messenger.

He just didn't understand why he wouldn't acknowledge such an honorable thing.

Those prophets in history all wanted the whole world to know about them.

"Tony, I've treated you to so many meals, and you still won't cooperate with my act. The world is going to the dogs and people are no longer what they used to be."

Looking at Xia Ling, who was trying to get his gratitude with just a few hamburgers, Tony almost choked on his cheeseburger. The famous Iron Man was nearly murdered by a cheeseburger.

"Ahem, I always thought I was the only one who liked to show off, but today I have to admit, Director Xia, your 'hamburger diplomacy' skills are simply beyond my reach."

Tony joked, with crumbs of a half-swallowed hamburger still clinging to his lips, but his eyes betrayed his helplessness at Xia Ling's behavior.

Xia Ling chuckled at Tony's teasing, then gently patted Tony's shoulder, signaling them to continue on their way.

The group continued to navigate the intricate streets of Hell's Kitchen, with Natasha and Coulson constantly aware of their surroundings.

This is Hell's Kitchen, the most chaotic place in all of New York. One wrong move and even elite agents like them could lose their lives.

As Tony ate his hamburger, he looked around for any strange things that might help him cope with the dire situation ahead.

Only Xia Ling was strolling around here as if she were on a leisurely outing.

"Look, isn't that Kingpin's lover? What's going on?"

Following Xia Ling's finger, everyone looked and saw a staggering man struggling to open the door of a law firm not far away.

Judging from the bandages on his body, this man must have recently suffered a serious injury.

But that's normal. In Hell's Kitchen, who can guarantee they'll be unscathed?

The man had clearly heard Xia Ling's teasing and turned his head away in displeasure.

"What a coincidence! I never expected to run into the famous Daredevil while just out for a walk. What a coincidence!"

"This can be called famous?"

Tony's face twitched, and he muttered to himself, "This Director Xia really talks about how famous everyone he meets. Does he really have that many famous people?"

He didn't know this person at all. How could just any Tom, Dick, or Harry be called famous?

Upon hearing Xia Ling's teasing, Matt's heart tightened. He quickly composed himself and tried to conceal his identity.

He forced himself to remain calm, turned around, a hint of alertness flashing in his eyes, but quickly regained his usual composure and calmness.

"Sir, you must be joking. I'm just an ordinary lawyer at this law firm, Matt Murdoch, not some famous Daredevil."

Besides, everyone knows how chaotic Hell's Kitchen is; I was simply doing my best to provide legal aid to the residents here.

Matt's words revealed a hint of humility and helplessness, but more so a concern about his identity being exposed.

"Coulson, tell him who we are."

Xia Ling didn't answer him, but gestured for Coulson, who was standing next to her, to speak.

He is, after all, the head of a bureau; it would be beneath his dignity to have to decide everything.

Coulson reluctantly stepped forward, faithfully fulfilling his duty as the chief's lackey.

"Mr. Murdoch, we are FBI agents. We have recorded all your actions. This is our director. We hope you can cooperate with our work."

After saying that, Coulson took out his identification and showed Daredevil his identity.

Seeing this, Xia Ling frowned. Pulling out identification was such a low-class behavior.

If you didn't know better, you'd think he was making fake documents.

We should bring over a few armed helicopters to play around with sometime. You don't trust the documents, but do you not trust the guns and cannons of armed helicopters?

Matt took the identification and examined it; there were no problems. These people were indeed FBI agents. Hmm, something's not right. There was a voice just now, and it clearly sounded like Tony Stark, that playboy.

Tony Stark is also an FBI agent? Something's not right, there's something fishy about these people.

Thinking of this, Matt's eyes became even more alert, but he still maintained a calm demeanor.

It's daytime now; he's just a lawyer with no fighting skills, not a street hero at night.

Once I take action, the entire Hell's Kitchen might find out my true identity.

Matt quickly calculated his options, knowing that remaining calm and cautious was crucial in this situation.

He slowly handed the identification back to Coulson, saying in as calm a tone as possible, "Thank you for your frankness, FBI agents. I will naturally cooperate with any legitimate investigation, but please allow me to finish what I'm doing first. As a lawyer, it is my responsibility to protect the safety of my clients and my firm."

"See? That's what a master of feigning ignorance looks like. Impressive, Daredevil. Coulson, hurry up and take notes; you should learn from him!"

Coulson smiled helplessly. He had to be dragged into this too; was Director Xia going to keep this up forever?

Natasha, standing nearby, glanced sympathetically at her colleague. Since the new director took office, he had almost become bald, and she wondered if there was any hope for him.

Matt's eyes widened. Why wouldn't this person listen to him? Why was he pretending to be confused? Had he ever pretended to be confused?

Although Matt felt helpless inside, he maintained a professional smile on the surface and emphasized again, "Ladies and gentlemen, I am indeed Matt Murdoch, an ordinary lawyer focused on providing legal support to my clients. As for the title Daredevil, I have never heard of it, and it has nothing to do with me."

Seeing that Daredevil was still vehemently denying his identity, Xia Ling stopped pretending and walked to his side.

"Alright, Daredevil, just admit it. I'm sure you don't want to go to jail and end up picking up soap with Kingpin, do you?"
