Chapter 32 The Deep Ones

As night falls, moonlight spills onto the streets of Hell's Kitchen, draping this bustling and complex neighborhood in a silvery veil.

Matt, the Daredevil, felt somewhat uncomfortable walking down the street; the streets were too unfamiliar to him.

The gang members who used to spawn at set times like regular monsters have disappeared, and even Kingpin, the ultimate villain, has been unusually quiet during this period.

His footsteps seemed particularly heavy on the streets of Hell's Kitchen. The usual hustle and bustle and chaos were gone, and this sudden tranquility made him feel a strange emptiness and unease.

He was used to fighting evil in the dark; those familiar figures, defiant eyes, and even fierce conflicts were all part of his identity as a guardian.

He moved through the shadows under the moonlight, trying to catch a clue that something was amiss in this unusual tranquility.

Although the shops on both sides of the street were still brightly lit, an unusual silence permeated the air, as if even the wind had slowed down, unwilling to disturb this fragile peace.

Could it be that all those gang members have retired? It's Hell's Kitchen at night, so why is it so quiet?

Matt couldn't hear a single cry for help. It was so strange, so very strange. This was so unlike Hell's Kitchen.

Matt was filled with doubts; he began to suspect that a larger conspiracy was brewing.

Suddenly, a faint cry for help caught his attention.

This cry for help was like a ray of light in the dark night, instantly piercing through the fog in Matt's heart.

He stopped abruptly, all his senses instantly heightened, as if he could detect every tremor in the air. The sound, though faint, was exceptionally clear, coming from a narrow alley not far away.

Without the slightest hesitation, Matt quickly changed direction and ran towards the direction from which the cries for help came. Using his extraordinary hearing and night vision, he silently approached the alley under the cover of moonlight.

As he drew closer, the cries for help became clearer, interspersed with faint sounds of struggle and low growls.

Did some large animal get into Hell's Kitchen? Why are there roaring sounds?

This made Matt's heart tighten, realizing that things might not be that simple.

He rushed into the alley, and immediately a strong smell of blood hit him.

Let alone a street hero with an extraordinary sense of smell like him, even an ordinary person could smell it.

"Help! Help!"

A faint male voice came from behind, seemingly noticing Daredevil's presence; the cry for help was clearly directed at Matt.

Matt immediately noticed the man's cry for help. He wanted to rush forward and save the man, but as soon as he moved, he noticed that the man's breath had disappeared; he was dead.

Matt's heart sank; he realized the situation was far more serious than he had imagined.

Just as he was about to step forward to check, an ominous shadow quickly spread from the depths of the alley, obscuring the already faint moonlight.

Matt quickly took a few steps back; he could clearly feel a dangerous aura approaching.

Although he lacks sight, Matt's senses are practically human-like.

This monster gave him a tremendous sense of oppression. Matt could even smell a fishy odor emanating from it, as if a terrifying creature from the deep sea had been forcibly dragged onto land.

"What exactly are you?"

Matt whispered, a sense of urgency he had never felt before welling up inside him. He had a strange feeling that the creature in front of him was probably not human.

If it's a monster, I don't know if my fighting skills will be effective against it.

There was no reply from the other side; they simply continued moving towards him step by step.

Faced with this sudden, unknown creature, Matt's heart raced, and all his muscles tensed, preparing for this unprecedented battle.

Having fought many people, this was Matt's first time fighting a monster. He didn't know whether, if he managed to subdue it, he should hand it over to the police or another research facility.

Just then, the Deep One let out a low, eerie roar and pounced on Matt.

Faced with the Deep One's fierce attack, Matt reacted quickly, dodging the blow with his extraordinary agility.

However, the power of the Deep Ones was beyond imagination; even the aftershocks of the air being swept away caused Matt to feel a strong shock.

He quickly adjusted his breathing, focusing all his attention on the upcoming battle.

The Deep One roared and charged again, its massive body crashing down like a mountain.

Matt moved with lightning speed, reacting almost instantly. He leaped up, using the wall on one side of the alley as support, and flipped over to land above the Deep One's head.

The club in his hand transformed into a silver lightning bolt, striking directly into the deep diver's eyes.

However, the Deep One's reaction was equally astonishing. It quickly raised its head, using its hard head to block Matt's attack, while simultaneously opening its large mouth full of sharp teeth, attempting to bite Matt in one bite.

Matt spun sharply in mid-air, barely avoiding the fatal blow, but his arm was grazed by the Deep One's teeth, and blood instantly stained his sleeve.

Upon landing, Matt quickly stepped back a few paces to maintain a safe distance from the deep-diving individuals.

He felt his injured arm and frowned.

In just one exchange, he was already injured. Although he could still fight, this monster surpassed him in both strength and speed.

If I keep fighting like this, I'll die sooner or later.

The Deep One seemed to be enraged by Matt's agility and tenacity, and roared as it launched another attack.

This time, it didn't just pounce; it began to use its agile and sharp claws to launch a full-scale attack on Matt.

Matt uses his extraordinary hearing and night vision to nimbly dodge in the dark while looking for opportunities to counterattack.

He kept jumping, rolling, and dodging, trying to wear down the Deep One's stamina and find an opening.

However, the Deep One's power was simply too great; each attack was accompanied by a tremendous impact, making it difficult for Matt to withstand.

His clothes were torn, his skin was cut, and blood kept flowing out.

Matt realized that the disparity in strength between the two sides was too great, and he was completely on the defensive. Perhaps retreating was a good option.

The Deep One lunged forward again, but Matt dodged it with a quick movement. His club transformed into a silver whirlwind, striking the Deep One hard in the abdomen with a dull thud.

The Deep One grunted and punched Matt, sending him flying.

Matt coughed up blood and used the force to escape at high speed, completely ignoring the Deep Ones behind him.
