Then they tied the unconscious Lili and Jin Tianqi (who was dragged out of the refrigerator, the latter already frozen and pale, and in a daze) firmly to chairs, with their faces facing each other.

Then, he picked up the old aluminum kettle covered in limescale from the dining table, poured half a kettle of cold, overnight water slowly and evenly over Lili's head.

"Cough cough...uh..." Stimulated by the cold water, Lili quickly woke up. She was confused at first, but then she saw Jin Tianqi, who was tied to the chair opposite her and looked disheveled. Then she saw Qian Wendi standing to the side with eyes as cold as a venomous snake. She instantly understood her situation.

She began to struggle frantically, the chair legs scraping against the floor with a screeching sound, her makeup ruined by water, mixed with tears of fear, making her look extremely disheveled.

"I'm crazy? Hahaha..."

Qian Wendi seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world. He tilted his head back and laughed a few times, his laughter filled with twisted hatred.

"That's right, I've gone mad! You two scumbags have driven me insane! I trusted you so much! I gave you my heart! I entrusted my brother's life to him! And how did you repay me?! Huh?!"

He became more and more agitated as he spoke, and with a backhand, he slapped Lili hard across the face!

"Snapped!"

The sound was crisp and loud, and Lili's cheeks instantly swelled up and her ears started ringing.

Qian Wendi grabbed Lili's hair at the back of her head, forcing her to tilt her head back in pain and look directly into his own bloodshot eyes, which were burning with anger.

Perhaps extreme fear gave rise to a reckless courage, or perhaps knowing she couldn't escape her fate, Lili screamed hysterically as her hair was pulled painfully.

Qian Wendi's movements suddenly stopped.

The anger and madness on his face froze instantly, replaced by an extremely strange sense of astonishment and absurdity.

He slowly released his grip on Lili's hair, took a small step back, tilted his head, and looked at Lili as if she were a monster. He then looked at Jin Tianqi, who, despite his disheveled appearance, inexplicably revealed a twisted and smug expression.

Being ugly...makes me feel safe?

Qian Wendi opened his mouth, but for a moment, he found himself speechless.

It's true that he's more handsome than Kindaichi, but "a sense of security"... is being handsome a sin?

As Lili watched Qian Wendi take out those obviously not-so-good items, and then looked at Jin Tianqi's ugly face, distorted by cold and fear, she suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of regret.

It wasn't that he regretted betraying Wendi Qian, but rather that he regretted being so blinded by greed and choosing to cooperate with Jin Tianqi, such a useless and despicable person!

I shouldn't have been so greedy for wealth and glory, and now I'm in this state where I'm at the mercy of others!

"Wendy...Wendy, I was wrong...Please forgive me, okay? He forced me, he forced me..." Kindaichi's eyes widened, and he swallowed with a gurgling sound in his throat, his face filled with disgust and despair.

"This is the 'key'," Qian Wendi explained indifferently.

Then, he put a heavy iron helmet, with strange protrusions and buckles on the inside, on Kindaichi's head.

He then adjusted the inside of the helmet and forcibly shoved two cold, sharp-edged metal buckles into the mouth of Kindaichi, who had just swallowed modeling clay. The buckles were wedged between his upper and lower jaws, preventing him from closing his mouth or speaking, and he could only make "hoarse" sounds.

Then, he did the same to Lili.

They stuffed in a piece of clay, put on a heavy iron helmet, and inserted metal buckles.

The two were bound to chairs, their heads covered with terrifying metal helmets, their mouths forced open and clamped by cold metal, like livestock awaiting slaughter, their boundless fear only showing through the narrow slits in the helmet's eye openings.

Qian Wendi walked behind the two men and activated a hidden mechanism with a red digital display screen on the back of each of their helmets.

With a soft "beep", the screen lit up, displaying a countdown: 05:00, and began to decrease second by second.
