Hong Kong film: Rise of Prison Break

Chapter 41 Black Prison Bone Transformation

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

After hearing this, Da Mi was not relieved at all; instead, she became even more furious.

He frantically pounded on the iron gate with his still-functioning left hand, producing a dull, loud thud. The recoil from the resonating iron bars made his arm go numb, but it did nothing to quell the anger in his heart and the feeling of powerlessness of being completely seen through and controlled.

"When I, Big Mimi, was out in the game, you were just a fucking brat who hadn't even been weaned yet!"

He roared, spitting onto the observation window glass.

"You think you can fool me with these low-class tricks? Go ahead and do it! Why are you acting like a sissy, all fuss and playing tricks?! Come on! You think you can smash a concrete wall with one punch?! Give me a punch in the head! Let's see if you can blow it up!"

He roared, trying to mask his growing unease with provocation and a fierce demeanor.

The more composed Zhang Wenjie remained, the more unfathomable the depths of this pool seemed to him.

Zhang Wenjie ignored his roar and slowly walked into the empty cell next door, whose door was already open.

Ma Zhixiong nodded to him from outside, then slammed the iron gate shut and locked it again. The footsteps faded into the distance, leaving behind a deathly silence.

Now, in the cells on both sides of this short corridor, only Zhang Wenjie and Da Mi remain, isolated from the world.

"How could I bear to kill you?"

Zhang Wenjie's voice came from the next cell, eerily calm.

"Your role... is still very important. You just don't realize it yet."

He paused, seemingly giving Da Mi time to process what he had just said, before continuing in an almost casual tone, "By the way, Brother Da Mi, I don't know if you remember... last month, wasn't there an outside charitable medical support group that came to the prison to give you 'regular patients' a free physical examination and some basic treatment?"

Big Mi stopped pounding on the door, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes, followed by a deeper wariness.

That's true, but it's just a formality—checking blood pressure and listening to the heart and lungs. What good is that?

What does this have to do with what's happening now?

Just then, he heard the sound of a key being inserted into the lock and turning—it was coming from the lock on his own cell!

Da Mi suddenly turned his head and was shocked to see that Zhang Wenjie was already standing outside his cell, holding a key and easily unlocking the door!

"How...how do you have a key?!"

Da Mi's voice trembled with extreme terror, and her body involuntarily shrank back, her back pressed tightly against the cold wall, her injured leg dragging on the ground with a scraping sound.

Zhang Wenjie pushed open the door and walked in.

The cell was small, and his tall figure made the already oppressive space feel even more cramped when he entered.

He gently closed the iron gate with his backhand, but did not lock it.

He took out his cigarette case, slowly flicked out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, and lit it with a match.

He took a deep breath, then tilted his head back and slowly exhaled several almost perfect, interconnected smoke rings. The smoke rings rose and spread slowly under the pale light, carrying an eerie beauty.

After doing all this, he turned his gaze back to Da Mi's face, which was contorted with fear, and smiled slightly.

Then, under Da Mi's horrified gaze, Zhang Wenjie made a move that was completely beyond his understanding and comprehension.

Zhang Wenjie then took a deep drag and inhaled the cigarette he had been holding between his left index and middle fingers!

The spark ignited instantly onto the filter, producing a slight "sizzling" sound.

Then, he opened his mouth, forming a standard "O" shape, but did not immediately exhale smoke.

On the contrary, there seemed to be a very faint, yet chilling, strange sound emanating from inside his body, like the stretching of tendons and bones and the writhing of flesh!

What terrified Da Mi even more was that Zhang Wenjie's already tall and thin figure began to swell at a visible rate!

His shoulder and back muscles bulged as if inflated, stretching his originally well-fitting prison uniform taut, the fabric making a soft tearing sound as it struggled under the strain.

The outlines of his arms and thighs became drastically thicker and stronger.

Even his height seemed to be slowly increasing, his head almost touching the low concrete ceiling of the cell!

In just a few seconds, the man standing in front of Da Mi was no longer the thin, pale, and bookish "pretty boy" Zhang Wenjie, but a giant as strong as an iron tower, exuding an invisible sense of oppression!

The prison uniform was stretched so tight that it tore in several places, revealing the bulging muscles underneath, which looked like they had been cast from refined iron.

His facial features also seemed more rugged, with lines as if carved by a knife and axe, and his eyes were as deep as a cold pool. When he looked down, he exuded a suffocating majesty and...inhumanity!

"vomit……"

Da Mi made a dry heaving sound in his throat, his stomach churning, and extreme fear made every muscle in his body tremble uncontrollably.

He had seen people who were good at fighting and people who were fierce, but what he saw before him was completely beyond his comprehension!

What the hell is that?! A monster?! A ghost?! Or... has his brain been damaged and he's hallucinating?!

"No...don't come any closer...you...are you a human or a ghost...?"

Da Mi's voice trembled uncontrollably. She waved her hands wildly in front of her, trying in vain to block the approaching terrifying figure. She desperately shrank back, wishing she could embed herself into the wall.

After transforming, "Zhang Wenjie" (or rather, in this form) slowly opened his mouth and exhaled the thick, yellowish smoke that he had just inhaled and which had undergone some strange transformation.

The smoke, carrying an unusual burning sensation, was sprayed onto Big Meow's face.

He looked down at Da Mi, who was huddled in the corner like a lamb to the slaughter, and his voice seemed to become deeper and more resonant, with a metallic quality.

"Throughout the entire Stanley Prison... you're the most 'suitable' and the most 'convincing'. Oh, right..."

He seemed to just remember something and added, "You seem... unaware of what's wrong with your body, don't you? I 'casually' glanced at the preliminary screening report from that charity medical team last time."

He paused, then uttered the words that plunged Da Mi into an icy abyss: "You have liver cancer. But don't worry... it's only in the middle stage. If you get timely treatment and it's well controlled, you can live for many more years. Of course, that's on the premise that... you have the money and the life to get treatment."

Liver cancer? Mid-stage?!

Da Mi's mind went blank with a "buzz".

He had indeed been experiencing abdominal pain and fatigue lately, but he attributed it to his old injury and the poor prison food, never considering anything more... How could Zhang Wenjie have known? That physical exam... Could it be...?
