Hong Kong film: Rise of Prison Break

Chapter 40 Warehouse No. 1, I'm in charge!

Da Mi was slapped so hard that her head slammed against the wall. She saw stars, half of her face swelled up instantly, her mouth cracked, and blood mixed with saliva flowed out.

"Damn it!" Zhang Wenjie's voice finally lost all pretense of calm, becoming cold and filled with impatience. "Do you know how much of my time you've wasted? Huh?"

He bent down, spread his right hand out like a giant fan, and pressed it hard against Da Mi's face, firmly grasping his entire face, along with his black-rimmed glasses, in his palm!

"The reason I didn't kill you last time..." Zhang Wenjie's voice was almost squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a chilling coldness, "It wasn't because you were lucky, it's just that I felt... a piece of trash like you might still have some value!"

The five fingers began to slowly tighten.

"Click...click..."

First came the groans and cracking sounds of the plastic eyeglass frames under immense pressure.

"Someone like you..." Zhang Wenjie stared at Da Mi's bulging, pleading eyes, his face expressionless, "deserves to rot in prison for the rest of your life! A piece of mud...you'll never amount to anything!"

"Ah—!!!" Da Mi let out a shrill, inhuman scream. He could feel the bones in his face groaning, and the shattered lens of his glasses was digging into his flesh!

I can't breathe! I can't think! There's only endless pain and the fear of dying!

"Don't kill me! No... Brother Jie... Brother Jie! Give me a chance! Please! No... I won't do it again! I'll never do it again!!"

He cried and begged for mercy incoherently, his face covered in tears, snot, and blood. His body trembled violently from extreme fear, and a warm, wet sensation came from his crotch—he had lost control of his bladder.

"I don't believe it." Zhang Wenjie's reply was only three cold, chilling words.

His facial muscles twitched slightly, as if revealing an extremely subtle, cruel smile.

Then, his five fingers suddenly clenched together and he gripped them tightly!

"Snap—!!!"

A clearer, more terrifying cracking sound rang out!

A mixture of sounds of bones, lenses, and flesh being violently crushed!

Da Mi's screams, like a rooster whose neck had been snapped, suddenly stopped.

His entire head was deformed in Zhang Wenjie's palm, and blood gushed out from between his fingers!

Zhang Wenjie released his grip.

Da Mi collapsed limply on the bed like rotten flesh with all its bones removed. Its face was a bloody mess, unrecognizable. Only its slightly twitching body indicated that it still had a trace of life. But clearly, even if it survived, it would be no different from a dead person.

Zhang Wenjie straightened up and shook off the blood and unidentified viscous substance that covered his hands.

He turned around, his gaze calmly sweeping over each of the ashen-faced, trembling prisoners in the barn.

"From now on," his voice wasn't loud, but it clearly reached everyone's ears, carrying an unquestionable authority, "Warehouse Number One, I'm in charge."

"Who agrees?"

Dead silence.

"Who objects?"

Still, deathly silent.

Only the heavy stench of blood silently permeated the dim light, announcing the complete end of an old era and the arrival of a colder, more irreversible new order in Stanley Warehouse No. 1.

Stanley Prison, two underground levels, special solitary confinement area.

It's deeper and colder here than a regular prison cell.

The long corridor was flanked by heavy iron doors, each with only a small observation window.

The lights were a bleak white, on 24 hours a day, making the mottled water stains and dirt on the walls impossible to hide.

The air was almost stagnant, filled with a smell that was a mixture of rust, dampness, disinfectant, and some kind of stale, decaying odor. It was cold and oppressive, and even breathing it into your lungs felt chilly.

This is where the most dangerous prisoners or those requiring special "care" are held, a corner of what is commonly known as the "water room," a true "black jail."

Zhang Wenjie walked at a leisurely pace down the empty, quiet corridor.

His footsteps echoed softly in the enclosed space, striking a chord in people's hearts.

His face was expressionless, but a cunning and cold light flashed deep in his eyes.

He stopped in front of an iron gate and looked inside through the observation window.

Inside was Da Mi, who was being held in solitary confinement.

He was leaning against the cold cement wall, his injured leg stretched out straight, and the bruises and swelling on his face had not yet completely subsided.

But his eyes were no longer filled with pure fear or madness, but with surprise, anger, and a kind of irritability after being repeatedly toyed with.

Upon seeing Zhang Wenjie appear outside the observation window, Da Mi suddenly straightened up, dragged her injured leg to the door, grabbed the cold iron bars with both hands, and stared intently at the calm face outside the window.

"Zhang Wenjie!" Da Mi's voice was hoarse, filled with suppressed anger and confusion. "You've got both face and substance! You've beaten him up, you've established your authority! What else do you want?! Kill me or torture me, just give me a quick death! You brought me to this godforsaken place, and you're not going to kill me? Are you playing with me?!"

He was, after all, a seasoned veteran of the underworld, having weathered many storms and experienced countless battles.

Time and again, Zhang Wenjie publicly humiliated and beat him, yet each time he was spared at the last minute, and even "kindly" sent to this special detention area with relatively better medical conditions...

If you say there's nothing fishy going on here, nothing more, he'd never believe it even if you beat him to death!

Do you really think his brain is as useless as his legs?

Looking at Da Mi's angry yet suspicious, outwardly fierce but inwardly weak appearance, Zhang Wenjie's lips curled up slightly, revealing an almost pleased smile.

He took a step back and gestured to the prison guard behind him (who was Ma Zhixiong) to unlock the door to the empty cell next to this one.

"If we don't stir up some trouble and make a big enough scene, how can we legitimately invite you down to this basement level as a 'guest'?"

Zhang Wenjie's voice was exceptionally clear in the empty corridor, carrying a sense of composure as if he were in complete control.

"The environment here is a bit lacking, the wind and water are cold, and there are walls on all four sides, so it's definitely boring. However... it's quiet and safe, perfect for discussing... business matters that can't be overheard by outsiders."

The ruthless stance he displayed in Warehouse No. 1, where he was determined to kill Big Mimi and fight her to the death, was not only to solidify his "untouchable" image and completely crush the remaining forces of Hung Hing in Warehouse No. 1, but more importantly, to create a sufficiently serious "conflict incident".

Because of this incident, he and Da Mi, the two "main culprits," could be "severely punished" in a reasonable way and be detained alone in the more strictly managed and isolated basement level, creating conditions for the two to have private contact without arousing suspicion.
