Douluo Continent: Thunder Roar
Chapter 6 The Spoiled Wang Dong'er
Ling Yu looked up and saw that Wang Dong had already made up her bed.
At this moment, she was standing in the narrow aisle between the two beds, arms crossed, her pinkish-blue eyes fixed on Ling Yu, or more precisely, on the piece of paper on his desk covered with writing and lines.
Seeing Ling Yu finally look up from the paper, Wang Dong subconsciously raised her delicate chin a little higher, trying to maintain her aloof and disdainful demeanor, but her overly beautiful eyes couldn't hide the hint of curiosity that had been piqued.
"Hey, what are you writing?" Wang Dong asked, trying to maintain a nonchalant tone, as if it were just a casual remark, but her slightly forward-leaning posture, trying to see more clearly, clearly betrayed her.
Ling Yu glanced at her but didn't answer. He simply placed his right arm, which had been loosely holding the pen, on the table, his elbow resting across the paper, subtly blocking most of the content.
Wang Dong's brows immediately furrowed in displeasure.
From childhood to adulthood, she has been exceptionally talented, and her appearance has been praised by countless people. Wherever she goes, she is the focus of attention and the center of attention. She has never been rejected so obviously and almost perfunctorily before.
They didn't even bother to say "it's nothing," and simply blocked it with their actions.
Curiosity quickly festered into resentment at being belittled and ignored.
"I'm asking you a question, didn't you hear me?" Her tone became more forceful, clearly showing her displeasure. Her pinkish-blue eyes widened further, clearly indicating that she was very unhappy.
Ling Yu then put down his pen, looked up at her formally, his gaze as calm as the surface of a lake outside the window, undisturbed: "I'm sorting out some personal matters. What's wrong, Wang Dong? Is there a problem?"
"Personal matters?" Wang Dong pursed her pink lips, her face practically screaming "You're kidding!" "What personal matters could he possibly have on his first day of school? So secretive..." Her eyes darted around, deliberately using reverse psychology, while she subtly took a half-step forward, trying to peek through the gap in Ling Yu's arm. "Could it be... he's writing something shady?"
Ling Yu frowned almost imperceptibly, feeling a slight aversion to Wang Dong's spoiled, willful, overly familiar, and boundless attitude.
He simply slammed the pen down on the table, crossed his hands on the edge of the table, leaned back slightly, and straightened his back, not only completely blocking any angle from which Wang Dong could peek, but also creating a distance between them.
"Wang Dong, you just entered the dormitory and made five requests, one of which was that I shouldn't disturb you. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. What I write is my freedom and privacy, and it doesn't seem to require me to report it to you in detail. You've set your rules to protect your space, and I naturally have the right to protect my privacy as well. That's fair, isn't it?"
Wang Dong was speechless for a moment after hearing these words, and her fair cheeks instantly flushed red with anger.
The other party actually used the five rules she had just solemnly announced to turn the tables on her!
His logic was so sound that she couldn't refute it.
The rules she set out did emphasize not to disturb me, but they didn't say that she herself couldn't disturb others or pry into their privacy!
But with her proud nature, she couldn't bring herself to say such unreasonable things right away. She felt a tightness in her chest, as if a wad of cotton had been stuffed into it, making it hard for her to breathe.
Wang Dong'er felt as if she had thrown a punch with all her might, only to land squarely on a soft, hollow pile of cotton. Not only did she receive no feedback, but she also nearly strained her back, felt a tightness in her chest, and was extremely uncomfortable.
She glared fiercely at Ling Yu's calm and indifferent profile, as if she wanted to stare two holes through his back.
Then, with a stomp of her foot, she strode back to her bedside, accompanied by a refreshing and pleasant fragrance, and plopped down in frustration.
She grabbed the brand-new, soft, and smooth silk quilt, ruffled it a couple of times in a fit of pique, and then, still not satisfied, raised her hand and slapped it flat with force, as if the quilt were the face of some annoying person.
What the hell!
What's the harm in taking a look?
You cheapskate!
Silent!
wack!
She hugged her knees, resting her pointed chin in the crook of her arms.
But his eyes couldn't help themselves; as if drawn by a magnet, they would stealthily and defiantly glance toward the desk, toward the figure sitting upright, seemingly undisturbed by anything around him.
snort!
Fine, I won't watch it then!
What's so great about it!
Wang Dong'er thought angrily to herself, "Those pouty lips could hang an oil bottle."
One day... one day I'll make you take it out obediently and show it to me on your own initiative!
Just you wait and see!
Just as the atmosphere in the dormitory was tense, and Wang Dong was sulking to himself—
dong dong dong.
A clear and rhythmic knocking sounded, unhurried and unhurried, breaking the silence inside.
Wang Dong'er, who was fuming with nowhere to vent her anger, suddenly had a bright look in her eyes, as if she had found a target to distract her.
She immediately sprang out of bed, moving as nimbly as a deer, and darted to the door in a few steps, a hint of sullenness still lingering on her face, before yanking open the dormitory door.
"Who is it?" Her voice still carried a hint of lingering anger and impatience.
The scene outside the door made her pause slightly.
Standing at the door were two girls with outstanding looks and demeanor, clearly upperclassmen.
The woman on the left has long, wavy, golden hair that shines like the sun. The ends of her hair curl naturally and fall over her shoulders and back, making her skin appear even whiter than snow.
She was tall and well-proportioned, and even a simple school uniform couldn't hide her amazing curves, especially her full and perky breasts and her slender waist, which created a breathtaking contrast.
A pair of clear, light golden eyes looked into the room with a mixture of curiosity and concern; her face was beautiful and charming.
The woman on the right has long, flowing black hair that is simply tied up at the back of her head, revealing her smooth forehead and elegant neck.
She possesses a gentle and serene temperament, yet her brows exude an undeniable air of heroism and composure.
Her features were delicate and gentle, and her eyes were like deep pools, calm and wise.
She also has an excellent figure with perfect proportions. Compared to the stunning curves of the senior next to her, she appears taller and more slender, with an elegant charm like an orchid or chrysanthemum.
A gentle smile played on her lips as she looked calmly at Wang Dong, who had opened the door.
Although Wang Dong'er was used to seeing beautiful women, these two senior students were top-notch in both appearance and temperament. In particular, their calm and composed aura, unique to upperclassmen, made her subconsciously tone down her earlier arrogance. She blinked her beautiful pink-blue eyes and asked in confusion, "Who... are you looking for?"
Before the two senior students could answer, the voice that had made Wang Dong'er sullen rang out in the dormitory, carrying a hint of surprise and a gentleness different from when it was directed at her.
"Sister Lexuan? Sister Nannan? What brings you here?"
Ling Yu had already stood up and walked around the desk.
His facial expressions became noticeably more lively. Although he remained composed, the aloofness that kept people at arm's length had faded considerably, and his gaze towards the two senior female students at the door held a clear familiarity and a hint of surprise.
Zhang Lexuan's smile deepened as she watched Ling Yu approach, her tone tinged with a hint of affectionate reproach: "Xiao Yu, you're being too formal. You came to the academy to register and settled in without even telling your sister. If Nan Nan hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known you were already here."
Jiang Nannan stood by the door, watching Ling Yu walk over, her heart skipped a beat for no reason.
She came by yesterday afternoon and personally cleaned his dormitory room and made up the new bedding.
At that time, it was just the two of them. Although Ling Yu's attention seemed to be elsewhere, she secretly felt a little happy.
After returning home, she kept picturing Ling Yu tidying up the empty dormitory by himself, worrying that he was not used to it and might be missing something.
She wanted to come back and see, even if it was just to ask one question.
But the girl's reserve and a little fear of being bothered made her hesitate—she had just come yesterday, and if she went again today, would she seem too…clingy?
After hesitating for a while, she suddenly had a flash of inspiration and thought of Sister Lexuan.
Yes, Sister Lexuan is Ling Yu's mentor and also the senior sister of the inner courtyard. It's most appropriate for her to visit Ling Yu!
I was just accompanying Sister Lexuan "on the way" so that it wouldn't seem out of place.
Standing at the entrance of dormitory 108, listening to Zhang Lexuan affectionately "scolding" Ling Yu for not coming to report the news, Jiang Nannan secretly breathed a sigh of relief; her goal had been achieved.
But what followed was a hint of embarrassment, especially when Ling Yu looked over. She subconsciously lowered her head slightly, twirling a strand of golden hair on her chest with her fingers, her cheeks flushing.
"Sister Lexuan has been thinking about you a lot. Knowing you were settled, she said she had to come and see you." She said softly, glancing quickly at Ling Yu before abruptly shifting her gaze to the desk behind him. "I... I don't have anything to do, I just wanted to show Sister Lexuan the way. Dr. Xiaoyu, is everything going smoothly here? Is there anything you need?"
She tried her best to maintain a natural tone of concern, so as not to reveal her ulterior motives.
Wang Dong'er stood by the door, watching the scene before her and listening to their conversation, her little mouth unconsciously pouting slightly again.
Sister Lexuan? Sister Nannan? They're calling each other so affectionately…
So this taciturn eccentric isn't actually that cold to everyone after all?
