Huayu: Starting with Marketing Bad Movies

Liu Yifei was genuinely surprised that Xu Feng invited her to act in a movie.

In 02, Liu Yifei played the role of Bai Xiuzhu in "The Story of a Noble Family", which made her a household name across China.

In 03, she played Wang Yuyan in "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils"; in 04, she played Zhao Ling'er in "Chinese Paladin" and Xiaolongnu in "The Return of the Condor Heroes". Every role she played was a classic.

At that time, Liu Yifei reached the peak of her career. Everyone in the country knew her, and she also had the unique title of "Fairy Sister".

Just how popular was Liu Yifei back then? Well, let's put it this way: Tang Yan, who was later considered one of the top actresses of the 1980s, and Liu Shishi, all marketed themselves as "Little Liu Yifei" when they debuted, in order to gain fame.

At that time, Yang Mi was just an unknown Guo Xiang.

It can be said that Liu Yifei was the most famous actress in China during that period, without exception.

Then, her career went through a rollercoaster of ups and downs...

They plummeted to rock bottom.

Especially after starring in the big Hollywood production "The Forbidden Kingdom", he was attacked relentlessly because he offended the Chinese.

A transgender woman, a "slender horse" from Yangzhou, and has an illegitimate child with Jackie Chan.

and many more.

Liu Yifei had no activities for two whole years until last year when she began to play the role of Nie Xiaoqian in the movie "A Chinese Ghost Story".

Then they ran into Xu Feng, whose inner universe was exploding.

With an investment of 150 million, the final box office was only 120 million, which can be described as a huge loss.

Her career will continue to plummet, and she may even have films that gross less than 100 million at the box office.

She only regained popularity after she completely let go of her inner turmoil and chose to return to television dramas.

But it's impossible for him to return to his peak.

Many fans feel sorry for Liu Yifei, believing that she reached her peak right from her debut and that if it weren't for her mother's poor management, she would have had an incredibly brilliant life.

But everything has its advantages and disadvantages. In the dark world of entertainment, how could Liu Yifei, who was not yet an adult, have grown up peacefully if it weren't for her mother protecting her?

They might encounter many bad things, and if they can't handle it, they might end up turning to the dark side.

Therefore, Liu's mother is definitely more beneficial than harmful to Liu Yifei.

Moreover, the times will not favor one person forever. Audiences are fickle and easily bored. Even if Liu Yifei works hard in her career and makes every right choice, she will eventually fade away.

Being able to stay in the entertainment industry for decades without being forgotten by the audience is a kind of luck.

Liu Yifei is currently experiencing a low point in her career, so receiving Xu Feng's invitation is a great opportunity for her.

Rumors within the industry suggest that Xu Feng and Jing Tian have an extremely good relationship, and she couldn't understand why this opportunity had fallen into her lap.

Liu Yifei is very clear-headed. She is not irreplaceable. Jing Tian has actually played all the roles that she can play.

What reason would Xu Feng have to choose her over Jing Tian?

"Actually, this movie really couldn't be made without you."

Xu Feng gave a brief introduction to the movie "Unexpected".

The focus is on the comedic nature of "Unexpected".

There's no need to hide this; Liu Yifei will find out sooner or later, so it's better to just say it openly.

As long as we can convince Liu Yifei, that's fine.

Upon hearing that it was a comedy, Liu Yifei was a little surprised, but she didn't react otherwise, clearly indicating that she wasn't opposed to it.

Every star dreams of becoming a versatile actor and playing all types of roles, and Liu Yifei is no exception.

She didn't care about comedy.

As for the impact on her image, she really doesn't have much of an image right now, at least that's what she thinks.

"My film is a nonsensical comedy, and I wanted a character with a contrast. When I was writing the script, you were the first person I thought of."

Xu Feng emphasized the essence of the film, and to prove its potential, he even told several funny anecdotes from later generations, which made Liu Yifei laugh out loud.

Actually, this was something he had carefully prepared before meeting her, with the aim of making the beauty smile.

Fortunately, it was successful, and I believe Liu Yifei will have a good impression of him.

"Thank you for your invitation, Director Xu. I'm happy to accept." Liu Yifei finally agreed.

Actually, being able to get this opportunity is already quite good for her at this point.

At this time, Liu Yifei was in really bad shape. She finally got a role in "A Chinese Ghost Story", but it flopped.

Other celebrities might have one or two movies that flop, but that doesn't have a big impact. However, Liu Yifei has had several movies that have flopped.

This is fatal for celebrities, causing their status to plummet and investors to completely lose confidence in them, making it difficult for them to secure good opportunities.

Having been out of the public eye for two years, Liu Yifei is now not far from fading into obscurity.

Xu Feng's invitation is an excellent opportunity for Liu Yifei right now, and anyone with a brain wouldn't let it pass.

Moreover, she's eager to try acting in comedies, especially nonsensical comedies.

To put it another way, every celebrity who becomes famous because of their looks has a heart that wants to conquer the audience with their acting skills, and Liu Yifei is no exception.

She is looking forward to presenting a subversive image to her fans in the comedy film and giving them a surprise.

...

The two then parted ways.

Although Xu Feng really wanted to have a long talk with Liu Yifei and have an in-depth exchange, Liu Yifei clearly didn't have that intention.

Therefore, Xu Feng took his leave at the opportune moment.

A tip for pursuing a girl: when you part ways with her, it's best to do so when she's at her happiest. This way, she'll feel a strong sense of reluctance to part, and the memories she has of you will be filled with positive emotions.

The length of time spent together is not important; the emotions are the most important.

Whether in his past life or his current form, he has a lot of experience with girls.

Therefore, Xu Feng was very confident, believing that he was on the right path and that he would soon be able to successfully cultivate immortality.

He likes cultivating immortality.

You can't blame Xu Feng for being confident. With a magic touch and a movie that grossed 400 million yuan, anyone would get cocky.

After securing the lead actress Liu Yifei, finding the remaining actor, Xu Feng, became much easier.

In this movie, Liu Yifei is the absolute lead, and the rest are just minor characters.

It's not that they aren't important, but rather that none of them are as important as Liu Yifei, the main character.

This spoof movie only cost eight million yuan in total, with Liu Yifei's salary accounting for half of that.

This shows that they are destined not to be able to invite any big stars for the other roles; at most, they can only invite some minor actors.

There was no need for casting; most roles were directly snapped up by China Film Group and Enlight Media.

The entertainment industry is never short of people, but it is always short of resources.

As for the filming crew, that's even simpler; Xu Feng knows far too many people from his previous film, "The Warring States."

Even because the film was simple to shoot and didn't require many people, Xu Feng still had to think about who to choose.

After a series of complicated but extremely important preparatory work.

On June 8th, filming officially began for the movie "Unexpected".
