Mystery: Becoming a Creator Through the Doorway

Chapter 48 "Wanderer" Traits and the "Star Staff"

This is the extraordinary characteristic of Gate Path Sequence 3 "Wanderer".

Looking at its appearance, An Ruowang was reminded of the stars under the polar night sky, the trajectory of the movement and rotation of the stars that could only be captured and presented through time-lapse photography over a long period of time.

He closed the box again.

The moment the lid closed, all the eerie blue light was gathered away, leaving only the silvery-white metal box lying quietly in his palm, heavy and cold.

An Ruowang put the box into the small world, preparing to consume the "Master of Tricks" contained in the "Wanderer" characteristic after the small world had digested the characteristics of the "monster".

Although he can take multiple approaches simultaneously, it is only after the characteristics of one approach have been digested that he absorbs the characteristics of another approach, which is equivalent to eating lunch and then dinner.

Therefore, there is one thing that An Ruowang is not really sure about—can he safely digest the characteristics of two different pathways at the same time?

He speculated that if he were to consume the characteristics of one pathway while the original spiritual imprint of the Creator was being digested, that is, before it was completely consumed, it would be very likely that the original spiritual imprint contained in the two characteristics would come into contact within the small world, leading to an unexpected event.

Considering the concepts and principles of extraordinary characteristics, An Ruowang felt that if he did this, there might be two results—resonance or repulsion.

If the two traits he is digesting at the same time are adjacent pathways, for example, one is the "Trickster" of the Diviner pathway and the other is the "Mystic" of the Gate pathway.

The initial spiritual imprints within these two characteristics, along with the spiritual imprint of the Celestial Venerable, are likely to resonate and merge into a new spiritual imprint and hybrid characteristic, increasing the difficulty for him to play and digest.

Conversely, if the two traits are not adjacent pathways, for example, one is the "Arcanist" pathway of the Gate and the other is the "Calamity Priest" pathway of the Sailor.

The initial spiritual imprints within those two characteristics, as well as the spiritual imprints of God and the Celestial Venerable, are likely to clash and attack each other, allowing him to reap the benefits and reducing the difficulty for him to play and digest them.

In short, An Ruowang wouldn't mind taking a few more days. He wasn't going to take the risk now and would try it out later.

Once we get back, let's try out the "Apprentice" trait from Sequence 9 contained in this "Wanderer" and the "Monster" trait that he's still processing.

He has already consumed one portion of the "Apprentice" trait, so consuming another portion of the same trait in the small world shouldn't be too difficult for him to digest. As for the "Monster" trait, he has already digested most of it, so even if something unexpected happens, it will be within An Ruowang's ability to handle and resolve it.

An Ruowang pulled herself out of her thoughts and temporarily suppressed those calculations about the digestion of characteristics.

He looked up at Dorian:

"I've received the 'Wanderer' trait, but what about the 'Star Staff'?"

Dorian turned slightly to the side, pointing to the other side of the secret chamber:

"The Star Staff is over here."

An Ruowang followed.

The two walked through the display shelves filled with magical items and arrived at the deepest corner of the secret room.

A figure about half a person's height stood against the wall, covered and wrapped in dark velvet, like a wrapped mummy, and vaguely shaped like a cane.

Dorian walked to the velvet cloth, but instead of taking it off immediately, he turned around and looked at An Ruowang:

"This is the 'Star Staff.' Would you like me to explain its abilities and negative effects?"

An Ruowang nodded:

"Thanks."

What he learned from the original work might not be comprehensive, and he didn't mind hearing Abraham's account of the "Star Staff" and the history of its possession.

Seeing this, Dorian could only suppress the agonizing wait for the outcome and slowly explained:

"The 'Star Staff' is a '0' level sealed artifact, corresponding to the extraordinary trait of Sequence 2 'Planetary Planeswalker'."

Its first ability is teleportation.

When you hold it, if a scene that is currently real and still exists comes to mind, the cane will take you directly to your destination.

However, it is crucial that the image you create during the transfer is absolutely accurate. Every detail must be perfect and distinct from the original; otherwise, you will never know where you will arrive.

An Ruowang nodded, indicating that she understood and had made a note of it.

Seeing this, Dorian continued:

"The second ability is reproduction."

When wielding the 'Star Staff,' if an extraordinary ability or a person you've seen comes to mind, the staff will recreate that ability or person, and the recreated person can launch an attack.

However, when you reproduce abilities and characters, you must have a thorough understanding of the object you are reproducing; otherwise, you don't know what kind of changes will occur.

Once, someone tried to unleash a lightning storm using the "Star Staff," but ended up turning themselves into a frog, only returning to normal after finding a way to break the curse.

Furthermore, the 'Star Staff' is hard enough to be used directly for attacks; those struck by it will randomly undergo mutations or experience various strange effects.

He paused, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes:

"Previously, I hit an Extraordinary member of the Aurora Society with the 'Star Staff.' His left side was teleported outside the door, while his right side remained in place, and his internal organs all fell out with a clatter."

Dorian didn't elaborate, but simply shook his head, as if trying to shake the image out of his mind, his tone becoming even more solemn:

"There are two more negative effects."

First, when wielding the Star Staff, you must mostly clear your mind. Because once an image appears in your mind, it may trigger the effects of teleportation or re-enactment.

Secondly, the Star Staff itself can move randomly. If it cannot be sealed properly, it will disappear at any time and escape control.

However, if no one holds it, all sorts of unpredictable and abnormal situations may occur around it, so it must be sealed when stored.

As he spoke, Dorian looked at the tightly wrapped "Star Staff".

Layers of dark velvet completely wrapped the cane, leaving not an inch exposed.

"This is the sealing container we created for it," Dorian stepped back, giving An Ruowang space. "Now, I'm handing it over to you along with the 'Star Staff'."

An Ruowang stepped forward and placed her hand on the wad of velvet.

Dorian's voice came from behind him, slightly tense:

"Hold it and pull it out. There's a base underneath that holds it in place. Be careful not to expose the cane itself."

An Ruowang did not turn around.

His hand slid down the fabric and touched the bottom, where there was indeed a circular indentation, like a slot.

He tightened his grip on the staff wrapped in velvet, but instead of pulling it out, he put the sealed "Star Staff" into his small world.
