Mystery: Becoming a Creator Through the Doorway
Chapter 47 Abraham's Last Temptation
A few seconds later, An Ruowang lowered her hand, and the fine blue light spots dissipated.
Dorian moved his right rib, took a deep breath, and no longer felt the stinging pain, only a slight soreness:
"Thank you, Aleister."
An Ruowang removed his navigator's hat, casually put it back into his small world, and the burning sensation in his throat subsided.
He coughed and cleared his throat:
"You're welcome."
An Ruowang looked around, and the surrounding scenery came into view.
The air wasn't stuffy; instead, it carried a rich, slightly fermented aroma, the kind of fragrance unique to aged wine—just right, neither too strong nor too weak.
Clearly, there is a special ventilation design here, which maintains the humidity that a wine cellar should have, but does not make the air too stale to be unbearable or even cause people to faint.
Every so often, a bronze candlestick is embedded in the wall, each holding an unlit candle. The floor is paved with neat bluestone slabs, old but spotless.
Along the wall, rows of oak barrels are neatly stacked, each marked with its year.
Each barrel was wiped clean, and the brass faucets gleamed with a soft sheen.
Clearly, this is a meticulously maintained underground wine cellar.
Dorian introduced with a cheerful smile:
"This is a safe house and storage room we set up in Southwell. You know, Southwell has always been known for its beer and wine, and there's no better disguise than a wine cellar."
An Ruowang nodded.
Indeed, wine cellars naturally give off a feeling of "keep away, strangers don't want to come near" vibe.
The place is damp, cold, and dark, and with the smell of stale alcohol, most people who accidentally walk in just want to leave as quickly as possible.
As he spoke, Dorian led him to an ordinary wall, which seemed no different from the rest of the place.
Dorian's fingertips lightly traced the surface of the wall, as if searching for something. He quickly found a specific spot used for navigation, then looked down at the floor:
"The real storeroom is down here."
Dorian himself is actually quite familiar with this place; he is simply demonstrating it to Anruowang on purpose.
An Ruowang followed his gaze to the ground:
"Should we go down from here?"
Dorian nodded:
"Yes. It's about three meters thick. You need an apprentice's abilities to physically pass through it to actually get in. The spirit world there isn't connected to the outside world, so you can't get there directly by teleportation."
He bent down, pressed his hand against the bluestone floor, and turned to look at An Ruowang:
"plz follow me."
As he spoke, Dorian's figure suddenly became blurry.
His silhouette and robes began to distort and elongate, eventually transforming into a hazy phantom, like a reflection in water ruffled by the wind, before slowly sinking and disappearing.
Following Dorian's movements, An Ruowang bent down and pressed himself against the bluestone floor.
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and began to activate the "apprentice's" abilities within his body, causing his body to begin to sink.
After a few breaths, An Ruowang opened her eyes.
He looked up and around and found himself standing in a room that was completely different from the one before.
This is a meticulously decorated underground chamber, but its style is somewhat old-fashioned.
The floor was covered with dark wood flooring, and in the corner were several comfortable armchairs and a round table, on which sat a gas lamp, a tea set, and several heavy ancient books.
But what attracted An Ruowang's attention the most were the rows of display shelves arranged along the wall.
The shelves were filled with all sorts of books, as well as items of various shapes and materials. Some were sealed in crystal or gold boxes, while others simply lay quietly on velvet cushions.
Each item emanated a subtle spiritual energy, some gentle, some restless, and some so subtle as to be almost imperceptible due to their sealed nature.
Dorian stood in front of the display shelf, his back to An Ruowang.
His back was very straight, but upon closer inspection, it seemed slightly stiff.
Hearing the noise behind him, he slowly turned around. His face looked like a stiff wax figure under the light, and his eyes contained a complex mix of anticipation, scrutiny, and a cautious tension.
Dorian slowly began to speak:
"Aleister, this is where most of Abraham's magical artifacts and extraordinary materials are kept."
After he finished speaking, the entire secret room fell silent.
Dorian's face remained calm, but his heart was already racing, and his body and mind were tense.
He stared intently at An Ruowang's reaction, not missing a single subtle change.
In fact, his original plan did not include the part about Aleister treating him.
Not asking Aleister for the Sword of Law was for two reasons: firstly, to prevent Aleister from having any doubts before the teleportation, thus avoiding any potential conflict; secondly, it would allow Aleister to weaken himself during the process.
He was weak, and before him lay the wealth of the Abraham family.
If Aleister wants to make a move, there is no better time than now.
If so, that might be the time when Aleister obtains the "Star Staff".
however--
"oh."
An Ruowang's reaction was indifferent.
His gaze swept over the row of dazzling display shelves as if looking at an ordinary shelf, then returned to Dorian's face:
"Where should I put what I need?"
Even a fool could tell that this was Abraham's final temptation.
The Abrahamic family no longer lived together; they were scattered across various countries and regions of the northern continent.
These things are usually kept separately by several small families, just like investors don't put all their eggs in one basket, or like mice giving birth to several offspring at once.
In this way, even if some of the people met with misfortune, Abraham would not suffer too much loss.
Even the official church suppresses and seals the artifacts in churches in various cities, rather than gathering them all together to seal and store them.
Therefore, this safe house may have existed for a long time, but the storage room that is now in front of him is definitely not where the Abraham family stored all their wealth.
More likely, it was a setup made by Abraham specifically to test him during those few days.
Dorian, however, did not let his guard down because of Aleister's reaction.
But he did not delay any longer.
In front of An Ruowang, he took out something that had been sealed away from the display shelf behind him and handed it to An Ruowang.
It was a palm-sized, silver-white metal box.
An Ruowang opened the box, and a faint blue light emanated from it, revealing the contents to him.
It was a miniature door emitting a deep blue light, its opening woven from countless tiny starlight, each point of light flowing slowly, as if it contained the night of the entire universe, both sacred and distant, both beautiful and dangerous.
