A certain Hogwarts professor of runes
Chapter 94 Duel Lesson
Felix breathed a sigh of relief; he had finally succeeded in getting one.
After going on stage, receiving praise, and earning extra points, Felix felt that even with only this one successful example, the lesson was a complete success.
But soon, the second, third, and fourth young wizards stepped forward and showed the professor their disarming spells.
"Fantastic!" Felix praised insincerely as he watched a seventh-level wizard cast a very delicate spell.
Felix silently thought to himself: They need encouragement, they need encouragement...
Snape strolled over slowly, and said sarcastically, "They succeeded because they were exposed to similar spellcasting techniques and theories in other courses. In fact, I never expected any student below fifth grade to master this spell in class."
"Professor, we'll wait and see."
Snape said with a smirk, "There's still fifteen minutes left in get out of class..."
Just then, a disarming spell caught their attention.
"That's... Hufflepuff, who is that?" Felix turned around. Among the four people who had succeeded, there was no Hufflepuff wizard yet, which made it impossible for him to treat everyone equally.
The young wizards of Hufflepuff School automatically parted to make way, excitedly chanting in unison, "Cedric! Cedric!"
A tall, thin wizard stepped forward. His face was slightly pale, but he was handsome and wore a Hufflepuff robe.
"Diggory, please come up to the stage. Let's give a round of applause to the first fourth-year student to learn the Disarming Charm! Hufflepuff +20 points." Felix recognized the face—Cedric Diggory, the top fourth-year student.
Katie Bell, standing next to Hermione, stood on tiptoe, her eyes following his every move.
"Do you know him?" Hermione asked.
"Of course! He's the Hufflepuff's Seeker, and Wood values him highly, believing he has a chance to take over as captain next year. And don't you think he's handsome?" Katie Bell said.
"Really?" Hermione glanced at him.
Ron whispered to Harry, "So, he's your rival?"
Harry nodded, looking at the red sparks on his wand, feeling a little frustrated.
"That guy is really popular," Ron said with a hint of envy, looking towards Hufflepuff House at the young wizards jumping up and down and clapping enthusiastically.
On the gilded stage, Diggory stood next to Felix, who noticed that Diggory was only half a head shorter than him, about five feet six inches tall.
"Digory, you haven't learned the Disarming Charm before, have you?"
"No, Professor Hyp."
"Tell me, how did you master this spell?" Felix asked encouragingly.
"Professor, every few minutes of practice I refer to the instructions on the parchment to find my problems. The section on the mindset for casting spells mentioned there has been very helpful to me."
"Is it about faith?" Felix asked.
"No, it's the phrase 'aiming to disarm, not to injure,'" Cedric said.
Felix understood. "A proper understanding of spells is crucial for our spell practice. At least in the early stages of learning magic, we must mobilize abundant emotional energy."
For the rest of the time, Felix and Snape were busy, but only seven young wizards had learned the Disarming Charm by the time the class was about to end.
Leaving aside the wizards below fourth grade, who still have various weaknesses and are unlikely to make significant progress in just two hours, the performance of the sixth and seventh graders nearing graduation was also quite average.
Most of them simply made the tips of their wands shoot out clusters of red sparks.
Even some outstanding young wizards can do this.
Felix secretly memorized a string of names: the twins, Cho Chang, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Arya Spinnett, Draco Malfoy, Eddie Camille, Anthony Goldstein, Padma Petit, and Hannah Abbott.
Although these individuals are second to fourth-year wizards, they have demonstrated extraordinary magical talent and are among the best in their respective schools.
In the final five minutes, Felix pressed the pause button, bringing the young wizards back together.
He waved his wand, restoring the ceiling of the Great Hall to its original state, and the milky white light transformed into twinkling stars. Many young wizards suddenly felt as if they had experienced a real dream.
"At the end of the dueling course, I need to remind you—" Felix's gaze swept across them, as if he could see each and every one of them.
"Class time is always limited, so you must put more effort into practicing spells. Don't wait until you encounter danger to complain that you didn't work hard enough in the past."
Felix waved his wand, and hundreds more documents flew out of the briefcase in the corner, each document consisting of four pieces of parchment glued together.
Harry opened the document in front of him, which was covered with dense writing.
"—This is detailed information on the 'Disarming Charm,' including various casting techniques and target splitting. You can compare it item by item after class. If you encounter any parts that are really difficult to understand, you can seek help from the professor or senior students."
"There are also some forms here that will be very helpful for you to assess your spellcasting level. I need you to hand them to me before the next class," Felix said, blinking as he stated the key points he was concerned about.
Given Felix's personality, he would naturally need to collect research data while teaching.
Some data—such as how "a particular" young wizard learned the Disarming Charm—is not important because it is not representative. But when the number of young wizards increases by a hundred or a thousand times, and there is a large enough sample, the information that the data can provide becomes very appealing to him.
"Professor, do we still need to complete this since we've already learned the Disarming Charm?" a seventh-year wizard asked reluctantly.
"Learned it?" Felix asked with a puzzled expression.
"Yes, I have learned the Disarming Charm. Look—Disarm!" He waved his wand, and a thin red light flew from the tip of the wand.
Felix and the young wizards watched as the red light flew a distance of more than ten meters and slowly disappeared into the air.
The wizard looked at him with considerable smugness.
Felix pondered for two seconds. Now that the class was over, it wouldn't be a problem for him to give the students a little criticism, right?
So he raised his head and calmly said, "I originally planned to move this part to the next class, but since we have this opportunity—"
He swung his arm violently, and his wand shot forward like a sword. A spell as thick as a wrist shot out, spanning half the hall, and struck the castle wall directly.
