Dragon Raja: Reboot

Chapter 33 Inuyasha

"Fifty million," Lu Mingfei said calmly, brushing the dust off his clothes.

"What... sir?" Even the usually aloof finance manager was momentarily stunned.

"I said, if number 88 still wants to compete, my bid will always be 50 million higher than hers." Lu Mingfei tossed the "17" paddle to the manager, turned and walked out of the room. "The things I like are priceless. And what I hate most is dealing with people and testing them. Anyone who opposes me should be prepared to be crushed by me."

……

The auctioneer stood on the stage again, his voice trembling and his eyes shining.

"The auction is now reopened. We have verified Mr. Lu's substantial financial resources, and the current bid is 100 million! Mr. Lu has also stated... he will always bid 50 million higher than Ms. No. 88's bid!"

The entire room fell silent.

Everyone was looking toward VIP box number 88, waiting for the girl to make her bid.

Compared to this set of swords whose origins are unknown, the current price has completely entered a crazy range.

No one wants to join a war of madmen, because no one knows when they will return to normal.

And number 88 is another madman.

"One hundred million dollars at a time." The auctioneer raised the gavel.

"One hundred million dollars twice..."

Girl number 88 stood up, said nothing, and turned to leave.

It seemed that she suddenly discarded the thing as if it were worthless.

"Sold for one hundred million dollars!" The auctioneer brought down the gavel the moment she stepped out of the hall.

A black sedan stopped in front of the back door of the opera house. The door was open, and the girl, number 88, rushed into the car and sped away.

A black partition separates the front and rear seats of the car, while black privacy glass blocks the view from the outside.

"Girl No. 88" curled up on the large sofa, kicked off her soft-soled slippers, and then nimbly "pushed" out of her loose robe like a rabbit.

When she did this, all the bones in her body seemed to be soft, and each one could be rotated at will like a universal joint.

Only rigorously trained yoga instructors, contortionists, or... Japanese ninjas can do that.

A black leather outfit was already laid out beside him: a fitted short jacket and leather pants, and red sandals with three-inch high heels. This incredibly stylish outfit would take several minutes to put on even with assistance, but for a ninja, it was as easy as a hermit crab shrinking into its shell.

She removed her golden veil, revealing a breathtakingly beautiful face, her vibrant blush carrying a hint of chilling menace.

A woman who always carries two ninja swords in her handbag will never look harmless, no matter how much makeup she wears.

So she simply chose to cover herself from head to toe, and only the long robe could slightly conceal her unforgettable figure.

"As you said, one hundred million."

Mai Shude leaned back elegantly in her seat, crossed her long legs, answered the car phone, and casually picked her ear with her long fingernails.

"Well done! But I have a question. Why didn't you raise the price at the end?" A voice, full of disappointment, rang out. "Our Mr. Lu has stated that he will always add 50 million to your offer. Didn't you always feel that selling it for 100 million was a loss?!"

Mai Shude was silent for a moment, then whispered, "I'm a little... scared."

"Huh? Scared? Scared of what?" The girl on the other end of the phone immediately perked up. "Aren't you the fearless female ninja?"

"You haven't been there in person, so you can't feel the danger lurking in the air..." Mai Shutoku said seriously, "It's like thunder brewing behind the clouds; you can't see it, but you can vaguely sense the deadly danger!"

"...It hasn't been that long, has our rascal changed so much?" The sound of chewing potato chips came from the other end of the conversation.

"Yes, I can't even reconcile his image with that of the boy at the Three Gorges Dam last year," Mai Shude said in a low voice. "The boss wasn't wrong; the madman has awakened from the body of the coward."

"At that moment, I even thought that the person standing there wasn't Lu Mingfei, but... the boss!"

"That fifty million wasn't a declaration of certain victory, but a warning to me!"

……

……

Lu Mingfei went into the bathroom, washed his hands, and stared at his face in the mirror.

A face with sharp features, a straight nose, and fierce, dark gold pupils, with a burning gold flowing deep within them—he looked like a demon from hell…

He suddenly closed his eyes, scooped up water with both hands, and slapped it hard across his face.

When he opened his eyes again, his pupils had returned to their original chestnut color.

That fierceness and majesty vanished, replaced by gentleness.

"Brother, are you dressing up again?" Lu Mingze sat on the pool, his feet dangling in mid-air, tilting his head to look at him.

"Why are you here again?" Lu Mingfei pulled out a tissue to wipe his hands. "Didn't we just see each other this morning? We've been seeing each other a bit too often lately. As the saying goes, distance makes the heart grow fonder. I think we need to cut off contact for a while."

"Brother, how did you feel just now?"

"Which 'just now' are you referring to?"

"It was you who manipulated that finance manager 'just now.' He thought he had everything under control, having caught a young man who came to act as a 'shill,' and he even received special instructions to use this opportunity to humiliate you. But the wealth you displayed easily shattered his dark intentions. Fear and regret broke down his mental defenses, so in the end, he was just a toy in your eyes, someone you could manipulate at will. That's the most wonderful part of power; it allows you to 'turn' everyone into toys, summoning them at your whim and dismissing them at will."

The little devil jumped down from the sink, his smile devoid of any warmth, and said, word by word...

"And this is the right we were born with!"

"Bang!"

The little devil covered his forehead, looked up at his brother with a look of utter bewilderment and disbelief.

Just a moment ago, Lu Mingfei gave him a sharp, loud flick on the forehead.

"Let's get down to business and stop with this nonsense," Lu Mingfei said calmly.

"Alright, alright, we made a small profit this time. Not counting the salvage fee, we netted $9860 million." The little devil muttered.

"Wait...aren't you going to make any more bids?" Lu Mingfei suddenly asked, stunned.

"Huh?" Lu Mingze asked, his face full of confusion.

"Didn't I give you a hint? If you raised the price, I would add another 50 million. You... didn't raise it?" Lu Mingfei said with a serious expression.

Lu Mingze remained silent for a long time before finally saying softly, "Brother, you call that thing an implication?"

"Isn't that right?" Lu Mingfei asked, his eyes wide.

Lu Mingze raised his hand and scratched his cheek, saying, "Brother, our actress thought that was a warning from you, and decisively abandoned her plans to escalate the situation."

Lu Mingfei gasped, incredulously asking, "Where did you find these third-rate actors?"

"Actually, she's our best actress right now. Besides, I don't think what you meant by 'insinuation' was anything but overly high-profile! Your boldness has scared all our actresses away!"

"So we lost at least fifty million?!"

"It wasn't us, it was me, my brother."

"??? You're already planning to kick me to the curb after I've served my purpose?"

"Brother, even close brothers should keep clear accounts. I thought you knew that!" Lu Mingze spread his hands, expressing his helplessness.

"But I never expected you to be so shameless!"

"It's okay, at least your brother learned a lesson." Lu Mingze reached out his little hand, stood on tiptoe, and patted Lu Mingfei's shoulder to comfort him.

"Forget it, I'm too lazy to argue with you for now. There's something I forgot to ask you this morning, my senior brother..." Lu Mingfei frowned, "Why did he suddenly have a headache yesterday?"

Lu Mingze shrugged and said, "Someone placed a seal on him. The battle with the fake Odin may have triggered that seal."

"What seal?"

"It's related to his memory; someone erased parts of his memory."

Lu Mingfei suddenly remembered.

In her previous life, Xia Mi said before she died that she had erased some of Chu Zihang's memories of him.

"The seal... has been broken?"

"It's like a corner of a wall has been broken; it's still a long way from completely breaking the seal, but at least the progress bar has started to move."

Lu Mingfei understood. It was like the damn resource progress bar jumping from zero to one percent. Although it was a small amount, at least it had started to move forward.

"Brother, aren't you going to ask me who that person is?" Lu Mingze asked expectantly.

"Junior sister, do you think I'm stupid?" Lu Mingfei glanced at him.

Lu Mingze chuckled, "So you recognized her too."

"Of course, she's still as beautiful and as quirky as ever," Lu Mingfei said with a smile. "I have something to discuss with the principal, let's talk another time."

He waved to the little devil with his back to him, walked out of the toilet, and stopped in front of the toilet door.

"Oh, right, there's one last thing I'd like to ask for your opinion on," he said, turning around.

Lu Mingze patted his chest and said in a trembling voice, "Brother, ask me anything! I'll always be your most reliable strategist!"

"Can dragons coexist peacefully with humans?" Lu Mingfei stared into his eyes and asked in a low voice, enunciating each word clearly.

Lu Mingze was silent for a moment, then sighed and said, "Brother, have you ever seen a god and a human in love?"

"Inuyasha?"

Lu Mingze was speechless. "That's an anime, not reality! And Inuyasha isn't a god. Okay, to ordinary people, there's no difference between demons and dragons."

Lu Mingfei chuckled, "I love cartoons the most. Mingze, do you remember? Only those who wield power and influence have the right to decide the future."

He waved, turned, and walked out of the restroom. The surrounding environment returned to normal as he stepped out.

……

"Mingfei, over here."

Lu Mingfei walked down the corridor with his hands in his pockets. The corridor was lined with famous paintings, from Van Gogh and Monet to Rubens.

Angers stood at the end of the corridor and waved to him.

"An old friend wants to have a chat with me. How about we sit in on it?" Angers smiled.

Lu Mingfei nodded readily, squinting as he smiled, "Alright, I'll cover you, Principal, you better run!"

"Hahaha, I don't think my old friend would go so far as to shoot me in the back again, do you think, Henkel?" Angers laughed heartily, turning to look at the old man behind him.

"A hundred years have passed, you don't still hold a grudge, do you?" The gaunt old man smiled kindly, his gaze turning to the young man walking slowly down the corridor.

"Is this your student?"

"Of course, the admission invitation I personally signed is for our new S-class." Angers smiled.

"Oh, S-rank? So many years later, there's another S-rank student. I think he deserves that rating." Henkel paused. "Alright, come in. Don't stand outside."

He wore round-framed glasses and a leather hat with a rolled brim, then turned and walked into the crimson doorway.

After Lu Mingfei walked over, Angers whispered in his ear, "This time, I'll introduce you to some idiots from certain mixed-race families."

Lu Mingfei looked at him strangely, but Angers had already turned and walked through the door.

Last time, the principal went alone at the invitation, but this time he invited me to go with him. Perhaps it was because my previous performance had earned his approval?

Lu Mingfei followed closely behind.

"No need for an introduction, right? Hilbert Jean Angers, the principal of the Kassel School, one of the leaders of the Dragonblood Secret Party, and also a well-known big spender in the circle." Han Gao slowly walked to the table and sat down, gesturing for Angers Lu Mingfei to sit wherever he liked.

There were thirteen chairs in the house, and all the chairs were occupied by handsome young men.

They all greeted Angers in the same way, raising their right fists and showing off the silver rings on their index fingers—thick, unadorned rings with different totems on their large faces.

They displayed their respective family crests.

"Are they all young people?" Angers glanced around.

"Of course, they are the representatives of this generation of families. Most of the old people like you and me are now dead, and those who are alive are lying in hospital beds, relying on modern medicine to keep them alive." Han Gao nodded.

"I feel like even if you add them all together, they can't compare to my students," Angers shrugged.

"Haha, to be honest, your student is indeed outstanding. He has shown extraordinary courage!" Han Gao praised without reservation.

"Of course, my students are the best," Angers smiled.

The young people exchanged glances, their initially wary looks now tinged with discontent as they looked at the young man behind Angers.

Then his gaze froze.

The young man, seemingly oblivious to everyone else, walked up to the bookshelf in the room and casually flipped through ancient books whose collectible value far outweighed their practical significance.

"It seems your students really enjoy reading," Han Gao said meaningfully.

Angers turned around and looked at Lu Mingfei, somewhat stunned. When did this brat become so fond of reading?

If he truly loved reading, he wouldn't have failed two subjects last semester...

"I always teach young people to read more books," Angers said, turning to praise. "Mingfei is a good kid who loves learning."

"Let's celebrate you getting the shot you like." Henkel took champagne from the ice bucket, poured a glass, and handed it to Angers.

"Thank you for giving up, which allowed us to succeed." Angers raised his glass in a gesture of thanks.

"We don't want to pretend to be generous. What you're interested in must have some potential value that we're unaware of. We don't want you to get it too easily, but..."

Henkel glanced again at the young man standing in front of the bookshelf.

"Your student is incredibly bold, which has astonished us. We initially thought that another outstanding descendant of a mixed-race family from the East had emerged, using today's auction as a stage to make their voices heard. But by the time we realized you were in cahoots, the auction was already over."

Angers raised his glass again, a subtle smile on his face, and said, "Mingfei is indeed outstanding. He is one of the three most outstanding students newly cultivated by the school. Moreover, he is the youngest, and he has an infinitely bright future."

"Oh? Three of them? You've managed to train three such outstanding young people?" Han Gao couldn't help but ask.

"Of course, we have been preparing for the dragon slaying, and Mingfei is the one I chose."
