Chapter 11 The Little Kangaroo's Sharing
Lin Dao took out the wild fruits and berries he had prepared in advance from his backpack and carefully distributed them to the Pokémon in front of him.
This time his movements were more natural because a basic level of trust had been established between them.
The serpentine bear immediately came over, took a red berry with its nimble forepaws, and happily chewed it with a "glug glug" sound.
Pichu hesitated for a moment. It had just finished eating oranges and its little belly was already bulging, but it still took the small blueberry that Lin Dao handed it and held it in its paws to slowly nibble on it.
Li Hao zoomed in at the right moment, allowing the viewers in the live stream to clearly see these details: the juice splashed on the nose of the serpentine bear while eating berries, the way Pichu carefully held the blueberries, and the heartwarming scene of the little kangaroo snuggling in its mother's arms.
"Now let me introduce these new friends to you."
Lin Dao's voice was gentle and clear. He first pointed to Pichu, who was focused on eating blueberries, "This is Pichu, an Electric-type Pokémon. They are the unevolved form of Pikachu, and their personalities are usually lively and active."
"Picchu has pink sacs on its cheeks, which are where it stores electrical energy. Because it is still young, the sacs are still small, so it cannot store much electricity yet."
"Although Pichu is small, it can release an electric shock powerful enough to paralyze an adult. However, because it is not yet proficient in using electricity, it will immediately discharge electricity when it is surprised, laughs, or frightened by something, and it is not uncommon for it to be paralyzed by its own electricity if it is not careful."
As if to confirm Lin Dao's words, Pichu looked up at him, a faint spark of electricity flashing across his cheek, making a soft crackling sound: "Pichu."
"Everyone should be familiar with Pikachu," Lin Dao continued. "The Pokémon called 'Yellow Zapdos' in those videos is actually the evolved form of Pichu."
"But I want to correct a common misconception: Pikachu is not aggressive. In their world, releasing electricity is more of a way of communicating, expressing emotions, or defending themselves, just like our language and body language."
He looked at Pichu, his voice softening: "Like now, the electric sparks on Pichu's cheeks are faint, which indicates that it is relaxed and happy. If it were afraid or angry, the sparks would become strong and intense."
The comments started scrolling:
"So that yellow Pokémon that generates electricity is called Pikachu?"
"Picchu is so small and cute! I want to have one!"
"It was really sparking with electricity! It's amazing!"
"So they're not intentionally attacking humans? It's just a form of communication?"
"In that video, Pikachu electrocutes a group of people; is that also considered communication?"
Lin Dao looked at the comments and nodded: "In most cases, Pokémon don't attack without reason. Just like if someone suddenly bursts into your house and shouts, you would defend yourself. The key is to learn the correct way to interact with them and understand their behavioral language."
He turned to the serpentine bear that was grooming itself: "You should all remember this old friend, the serpentine bear, a normal type."
"Yesterday it chased Li Hao simply because it smelled food; that's its survival instinct. Zigzag bears are very curious and like to collect shiny things. If you lose any sparkly little objects in the wild, they might have picked them up."
The snake-striped bear seemed to understand what Lin Dao was talking about. It raised its head, sniffed the air, sneezed slightly, and then continued to groom its ring-patterned fur.
The way it meticulously groomed itself was indeed no different from that of a domesticated pet.
"As for this one," Lin Dao said, his gaze falling on the strange-colored Pocket Beast, his tone becoming gentler and full of respect.
"Kangaskhan, Normal type. They are among the most maternal Pokémon in the Pokémon world. Kangaskhan mothers will keep their babies in their pouches until they are old enough to live independently. During this time, they are inseparable, fighting together and facing danger together."
The camera zooms in on the marsupial. Its dark brown fur gleams uniquely in the afternoon sunlight as it carefully tears fruit into small pieces and feeds them to its baby. The baby marsupial nestles in its mother's arms, taking small bites and occasionally letting out contented purrs.
"This Kangaskhan is a heterogeneous individual." Lin Dao's voice carried a hint of emotion.
"Because its color is different from its kind, it is likely to be rejected by the group and have to raise its children alone in the forest."
"But you see, its love and protection for its child is no different from any mother's. It becomes strong for its child, it is vigilant against all possible threats for its child, and it even tries to accept the kindness of strangers for its child."
Just then, the little kangaroo peeked out from its mother's arms and looked curiously in the direction of the forest road.
Its eyes blinked, filled with childlike innocence and curiosity.
The marsupial immediately protected its cub with alertness, its muscles slightly tense.
But the baby kangaroo struggled to climb out of its pouch. This action made the kangaroo stand up nervously, but it did not stop it. Instead, it followed closely behind the baby, its eyes never leaving it, its huge claws ready to scoop the baby back to safety at any moment.
The little kangaroo wobbled towards the forest path, its round body making its walk somewhat clumsy, but every step was firm.
It walked up to Lin Dao, raised its little head, and since Lin Dao was still squatting, their line of sight was almost level.
Then, the little kangaroo did something that surprised everyone.
It stretched out its paw, holding half a berry that hadn't been eaten, and offered it to Lin Dao, saying, "Gah!"
Lin Dao was stunned for a moment, then he understood what the little kangaroo meant; it was sharing its food.
This simple act embodies the purest and most genuine kindness of Pokémon.
It did not see the stranger as a threat; it wanted to share its treasures with the human who provided it with food.
Lin Dao's heart was gently touched. He slowly reached out his hand, palm up, so that the little kangaroo could place the berries in his hand.
He took the half-berry, carefully took a small bite, and then smiled and said, "Thank you, it's delicious. It's very sweet."
The little kangaroo jumped up happily, making cheerful "ga-ooh ga-ooh" sounds.
The wariness in the kangaroo's eyes finally softened. It walked to the child's side and gently stroked the little kangaroo's head with its huge paws, the movement incredibly gentle.
The live stream chat completely shifted its tone at that moment:
"I'm going to cry... I'm really going to cry..."
"The little kangaroo is sharing its food; it considers the streamer a friend."
"The kangaroo mother's eyes are exactly the same as the way my mother looks at me."
"What was I afraid of before? Such a gentle life..."
"The variegated pangolin is so beautiful, its dark brown color is like melted chocolate."
"They are not monsters, they never have been."
"I'm sorry, I used to call them monsters..."
"We were wrong, so wrong."
Looking at the rapidly scrolling comments and the ever-increasing number of online viewers, Li Hao couldn't help but whisper to Lin Dao, "Brother Lin, the comments... everyone is apologizing."
Lin Dao shook his head, his voice not loud but clearly transmitted into the microphone: "No need for an apology."
"Fear stems from the unknown, and now, we are learning about this new world together. Pokémon are not monsters, and humans are not natural enemies. What we need is not apologies, but understanding; not repentance, but change."
