Chapter 38 Encirclement and Suppression Operation
Harry hovered in mid-air, waiting for the lightning. Sure enough, a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, instantly illuminating the entire arena. Harry immediately saw a golden flash at the edge of the arena.
Harry stared intently at the Golden Snitch, crouched on the fire bolt, and suddenly accelerated, charging towards the Golden Snitch.
Two Hufflepuff members saw a red blur flash by, and Harry walked right through them, eliciting cheers from the stands.
While Harry was searching for the Snitch in the air, the Seeker opposite him was obviously watching Harry. Following his gaze, the Seeker also spotted the Snitch, and was even closer than Harry. However, he only had a Comet, a model that was popular five or six years ago. It was economical and durable, but its speed was not as good as Harry's Nimbus 2000, let alone Firebolt.
Harry quickly overtook Hufflepuff's Seeker, who, preoccupied with accelerating, nearly crashed into the edge of the stands.
The students of Hufflepuff were outraged. "You're using professional athletes' gear to bully people!"
The Golden Snitch clearly noticed Harry's approach and quickly flew off the field. The Golden Snitch doesn't have a clear concept of the playing field and often flies off the field.
Harry's eyes were unwavering, focused solely on the Golden Snitch, and he truly shot off the field like an arrow.
The Hufflepuff students watched helplessly as Harry vanished. Some students turned around and found the huge badger-shaped hat on the stands, and Bai Lin was nowhere to be found either.
Harry dashed out of the playing field, below which was a small grove of trees. He quickly swept through the trees, but something strange happened: Harry felt an eerie silence suddenly descend upon him.
The wind was still as fierce as ever, but it forgot to roar; the rain was still falling, but it forgot to make a sound. It was as if someone had turned off the volume, or Harry had suddenly become deaf. Harry was momentarily stunned and didn't know what was going on.
Then, a familiar yet terrifying chill swept over him, invading his body, and at the same time he realized that something was flying around on the ground below.
Before he could even think, he averted his gaze from the thief and looked down...
There were at least twenty or thirty Dementors standing in the open space, all of their hidden faces raised and staring at him. Harry felt as if cold water was rushing up his chest, freezing into ice blades that were cutting into his internal organs.
Then Harry heard someone screaming, screaming in his mind... it was a woman.
He recognized the voice; it was his mother, Lily Potter.
Following the sound, he saw Lily kneeling in front of a dark figure, pleading desperately.
"Don't touch Harry, don't touch Harry, please don't touch Harry!" the mother cried.
"Get out of the way, you stupid woman! Get out of my way!" a sinister and crazed man shouted.
"Don't touch Harry, please! Kill me! Kill me!"
A swirling white mist filled Harry's mind, numbing him, but then a glimmer of silver light appeared in his mind, and a silver stag suddenly emerged, dispelling the white mist and instantly waking Harry from his reverie.
"You! Don't even think about it! Defeat me!" Harry yelled, drawing his wand and pointing it at the Dementors: "Panic! Patches!"
"High-level hunters often appear in the form of prey!" Bai Lin suddenly recalled the words of his good roommate Wang Hao from college before his rebirth. That day, Wang Hao had been scrolling through some short videos and then started talking to Bai Lin about popular internet memes.
But at this moment, Bai Lin really felt that what was said was absolutely right. He was originally worried that Harry would fall off the broom like in the original book. In the original book, he was not very high off the ground and the broom was not very fast. He only suffered some minor injuries and passed out. Today, however, he was riding a high-speed flying fire bolt and was at least twenty or thirty meters off the ground. Falling off would be no joke.
Harry's performance far exceeded expectations. He not only quickly broke free from the Dementors' mental attack, but also bravely launched an attack on the Dementors.
As Harry's wand emitted a dazzling silver light, the light even began to slowly form the image of an animal. It resembled a horse but was not a horse. As the image became clearer, it grew long, forked antlers, revealing itself to be a stag.
At the same time, several figures rushed out of the woods below, shouting, "Call on God! Call on God!"
Black charged ahead, his wand gleaming brightly silver. Although it hadn't yet taken the form of a guardian deity, it possessed a faint outline, resembling more of a Gryffindor lion than his Animagus—a large dog.
Lupin charged in from the other side. Because of the werewolf curse, he couldn't further enhance the pure holy energy. Hagrid, on the other hand, was affected by his giant bloodline, so they could only make their wands glow silver like torches. But this was enough to make the Dementors at close range feel uncomfortable and fearful.
Laut the Onion-Nosed Auror's Patronus is a silver-white bull. Wizards who become Aurors are the elite of wizards, skilled in various dark magic defense spells, and of course, they all have Patronus Charms. Although Laut is not good-looking, his Patronus is extraordinary and it shot out from above his wand, charging straight towards the Dementors.
A giant silver tulip bloomed directly amidst the Dementors. It was Catherine's Patronus Charm. Before her, Bai Lin had never heard of a wizard summoning a plant-shaped Patronus. But her tulip was clearly the MVP of the entire event. Others' Patronus Charms could only use their light to startle the Dementors and make them scatter and flee, but the tulip's light was like flames or sulfuric acid, directly burning the surrounding Dementors and causing them to suffer greatly. White mist emanated from their bodies, and their black and tattered robes became somewhat dim.
"Drive them into the Forbidden Forest! Whitescale has set a trap for them!" Catherine shouted. Although the rain was still heavy, Catherine had clearly cast a loud spell on herself, and everyone heard her.
Harry then lowered his broom, forming a semi-circle with the others, and drove the fleeing Dementors toward the Forbidden Forest.
Lauter had heard that Whitescale had killed a Dementor on a train, but he was skeptical. For hundreds of years, countless wizards had studied Dementors, but none had found a way to kill them. In the end, Azkaban was established as a special prison, where Dementors could "legally" torture prisoners. It was a forced reconciliation between wizards and Dementors. But if Dementors were unruly and harmed humans, the Aurors had no way to deal with them.
Driven by a sense of justice to protect the students, Laut was persuaded by Bai Lin to join the operation, but he was still very curious about what kind of trap Bai Lin had set.
