Yu Chen tightened his arms, pulling her even closer.

Once the carriage left the city, the road narrowed and became bumpy.

The wheels rolled over the gravel, and the carriage shook even more violently than before.

Su Wuli was shaken awake again.

She opened her eyes and found herself wrapped in a cloak like a silkworm cocoon, with only her face showing, half of which was covered by his collar.

Turning my head to look out from the edge of the cloak, I saw that most of the leaves on the leaves of the trees on both sides of the road had fallen.

The bare branches reach towards the sky.

She looked at him for a while, then looked up at Yu Chen.

He was looking down at her, his gaze falling on her face, which was flushed from being covered by her cloak.

"How much longer?" Su Wuli couldn't help but ask.

"Soon."

Su Wuli leaned on his shoulder with her eyes half-closed.

"I'm hungry," she couldn't help but mumble, her voice muffled inside his collar.

A hand emerged from the cloak and rested on his wrist, its touch weak.

She didn't eat breakfast.

Still feeling unwell after waking up, she closed her eyes and repeated, "I'm hungry."

As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Chen reached under the seat and lifted the food box up.

Open the lid, and you'll find several kinds of snacks inside.

He took a piece of jujube paste pastry and held it to her lips.

She smelled the fragrance, and before she even opened her eyes, her mouth was already open.

I took a bite and chewed it twice.

"Is it delicious?" Yu Chen asked.

"Hmm," she mumbled in response, her eyes still closed.

He handed it over again, and she took another bite.

Su Wuli ate quietly, without making a sound; only her eyelashes trembled slightly.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains and fell on her face, casting a thin layer of light on her cheeks.

He looked at the layer of light, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Su Wuli finished eating the jujube paste pastry and finally opened her eyes.

My gaze fell on the food box in his hand, and I saw that there were lotus seed cakes and poria cocos cakes inside.

She glanced at him, then at the snacks.

Yu Chen smiled and handed her a piece of lotus seed cake.

She took it and took a bite, a little crumb of cake getting on the corner of her mouth.

The man reached out and used his fingertips to wipe it off for her.

Su Wuli paused.

Although we've done these intimate things many times, I still feel shy when I meet a man's gaze.

Her face flushed slightly, and she lowered her head to finish the lotus seed cake.

"Are you still hungry?" Yu Chen asked softly.

Su Wuli shook her head, her gaze lingering on the few pieces of Poria cocos cake for a moment before moving away.

The next second, Yu Chen precisely picked up a piece of Poria cocos cake and handed it to her.

"I can't eat anymore," Su Wuli said.

But he didn't let go.

She paused for a moment, then took a bite. The Poria cocos cake was thin and crispy, crumbling with a single bite.

The crumbs fell white and sticky onto her clothes.

Su Wuli quickly bent down to pick it up.

He took her hand and said, "I won't eat anymore."

After saying that, Yu Chen brushed the crumbs off her clothes and touched the red mark on her collar with his fingers.

Su Wuli subconsciously flinched, and his finger paused for a moment before retracting.

He then closed the food container, put it back under his seat, and leaned back in his chair.

The carriage continued forward, its wheels rolling over gravel.

She closed her eyes and then opened them again, looking out the window at the faded mountains.

"If you're still sleepy, sleep a little longer," Yu Chen said as he poured her a glass of water.

Su Wuli took it and drank a small sip.

I was quite thirsty after eating a few snacks.

"I'll call you when we get there," Yu Chen said.

"Hmm." Su Wuli nodded slightly, indeed feeling somewhat tired.

I went to bed too late last night.

The carriage turned another corner, and she fell into a deep sleep amidst the bumpy ride.

................................................

I don't know how long I slept.

Su Wuli felt uncomfortable sitting down; even with a thick, soft cushion under her bottom, it still felt uncomfortable.

She couldn't help but shift her position, reaching behind her to rub her lower back.

"Feeling unwell?"

"Mm." Su Wuli nodded.

"Shall we get down and walk around?"

Upon hearing this, her eyes lit up.

The carriage stopped halfway up the mountain.

Su Wuli jumped down from the carriage. Her feet were still a little soft on the ground, so she reached out and held onto the carriage shaft to steady herself.

Yu Chen let the carriage and the others go first.

Su Wuli tried to take a few steps, but the stones on the mountain path hurt her shoes.

She had to change her strides from long strides to small steps, and then to tiny steps.

She had only walked a short distance when her breathing changed.

Yu Chen walked beside her at a very slow pace, almost stopping every step.

Su Wuli's breathing became heavier and heavier.

"I'll carry you on my back," Yu Chen said from the side.

"No," she said, shaking her head.

She persisted for a few more steps, but then she had to slow down.

The man simply walked up to her and squatted down.

He had broad shoulders and back, and his dark robes clung to his body in the mountain wind.

Su Wuli pursed her lips and leaned down, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in the crook of his neck.

I could smell the scent of sandalwood and mountain breeze on his skin.

He supported her legs with both hands to stand up, walking steadily as if she were on flat ground.

Su Wuli heard him chuckle softly, the sound resonating from his chest, making her cheek, which was pressed against his, go numb.

"Do you never walk normally?" He raised his voice slightly at the end, as if it were intentional.

Su Wuli buried her face in his neck and mumbled, "It's all your fault."

She's not usually this spoiled.

He laughed again as soon as he finished speaking, this time for a little longer than before.

Hearing him laugh, Su Wuli hugged his neck tightly and remained silent.

The wind blew and her hair onto her face.

He turned his head and used his chin to brush aside the stray hairs.

Her face was pressed against his neck, the two of them very close together.

The mountain breeze was cool as it passed between them, but his back was hot, warming her through their clothes.

She lay on his back, closed her eyes, and the mountain path slowly receded beneath her feet.

We arrived at the hot spring resort.

Yu Chen carried Su Wuli through several corridors and stopped in front of a house.

Shadow Falcon followed from behind, reached out and pushed open the door, then stepped aside.

Su Wuli lay on his back and fell asleep again at some point.

Her hand dangled from his shoulder, swaying gently with the rhythm of his walk.

Yu Chen turned his head to look at her, then lifted her up slightly.

She shifted on his back and rubbed her face against his neck.

Then it stopped moving again.

Chuhe and Qiaosheng followed behind, carrying bundles, their steps very light.

Shadow Falcon stood at the door without coming in; the door closed and the footsteps faded into the distance.

Yu Chen placed her on the couch.

She curled up and huddled under the covers.

Yu Chen sat by the couch and watched her sleeping soundly, with only one hand sticking out from under the covers. He then reached out and pulled the covers up to cover her shoulders.

Su Wuli's hand emerged from under the covers again and touched his hand.

Her fingers rested on his wrist.

"We've arrived," he said softly.

"Mmm," Su Wuli responded, her voice muffled and somewhat unclear from the pillow.

"Rest first."

"Mmm," she responded again, her fingers sliding down from his wrist to rest on the mattress.

Yu Chen also lay down next to him.

The mattress sank slightly, and Su Wuli rolled over and snuggled into his arms.
