With nowhere to put his legs, he rested them on the armrests of the chair.

She wanted to put it down, but there wasn't enough room on the chair.

Gently sway on the handrail.

Her toes curled up, rubbing against his calf.

The candlelight flickered again, and her gaze fell on the two shadows...

I could only see the outline of his shoulders, not hers.

She was completely obscured by his shadow, and even his shape was not discernible.

Su Wuli's face was burning hot, so she turned her head and buried her face in his neck.

Yu Chen looked down at her exposed ears, which were so red they were almost translucent, and the candlelight could see through them.

He reached out and touched her earlobe.

Su Wuli let out a soft moan and shrank back again.

Yu Chen pulled her closer to his arms.

The chair creaked, and she bit her lip to swallow the sound.

The chair was still creaking, and she couldn't swallow her words cleanly.

………………

The next day, the morning light shone through the gaps in the curtains.

Su Wuli curled up in Yu Chen's arms, her hair scattered all over the pillow.

She moved her face and rubbed it against his skin.

Yu Chen was already awake, but he didn't move for fear of waking her.

Su Wuli's breathing was very light, and the breath she exhaled from her nose brushed against his collarbone.

Footsteps came from outside the door.

Chuhe's voice sounded muffled through the door.

"Girl, it's time to get up, we have to go today—"

Before he could finish speaking, Yu Chen's deep voice came from inside.

"Leave it."

Chuhe stood at the door for a moment, stunned.

Qiaosheng was holding a basin of water beside her, and the steam rising from the basin blurred her face.

The two exchanged a glance.

Yu Chen spoke again, "Bring in the water, nothing else is needed."

Chuhe carefully pushed open the door and walked in with her head down.

Then place the basin on the shelf.

She dared not look toward the bed, only seeing the curtains hanging down, separating the person on the bed.

Chuhe draped the handkerchief over the edge of the basin and then withdrew.

The door closed gently.

Yu Chen lifted a corner of the blanket and sat up. Su Wuli, losing his body heat, subconsciously moved closer to him.

He reached out and touched the air twice but couldn't find anything, so he frowned.

He seemed somewhat dissatisfied.

Yu Chen bent down and lifted her out of the blanket.

Su Wuli leaned against him, her head resting on his shoulder.

He carried her to the shelf, supporting her with one hand and wringing out a handkerchief with the other.

The handkerchief was warm, and moisture seeped out from between his fingers. He placed the handkerchief over her face and gently wiped it.

Rub from the center of your forehead to the bridge of your nose, and from the bridge of your nose to the corners of your mouth.

Su Wuli's eyes remained closed, but her lips moved slightly, and she mumbled something.

I can't hear clearly.

After wiping her face, Yu Chen put the handkerchief back in the basin, then picked up the toothpaste and pinched her chin with his other hand.

I pressed my thumb against her lower lip and gently pushed it open, and her mouth opened.

Su Wuli frowned slightly and mumbled indistinctly, "No...it doesn't taste good..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Chen looked at the disgusted expression on the person in his arms and couldn't help but chuckle.

After rinsing her mouth, Yu Chen carried her back to the bedside.

Su Wuli still didn't wake up, she just buried her face in his neck again, her hair brushing against his chin and making it itchy.

He placed her on the edge of the bed and went to get her clothes.

The clothes were placed next to Su Wuli, but she didn't move.

Yu Chen then picked up the upper garment, unfolded it, and put it over her head.

Her hair was a mess when it popped out of her collar, covering her face.

Yu Chen reached out and brushed the hair aside, revealing her face.

Su Wuli's eyes remained closed.

He pulled her hand out of her sleeve.

Her fingers were limp and weak, letting him manipulate them at will.

As she tied the belt, Su Wuli's body leaned forward due to inertia, her forehead touching his chest.

Yu Chen could only hold her waist with one hand and tie her belt with the other.

Su Wuli finally opened her eyes when she put on the skirt.

But he wasn't fully awake; his eyeballs twitched under his eyelids, as if he were dreaming.

After putting on her dress, Su Wuli looked down at herself.

His gaze was unfocused, his pupils were unfocused, and he looked for a moment before closing his eyes again.

She then muttered under her breath, "It was all your fault last night..."

She raised her hand to push him, but she had no strength; her fingers slid down as soon as they touched his chest.

Yu Chen caught her sliding hand. "Hmm, it's my fault."

Hearing him admit it, Su Wuli became even more excited.

Her voice rose just a little bit, "I told you I was going to get up early today, but you insisted..."

She didn't finish speaking because as she looked down and blinked, she saw the marks on her collarbone.

The colors, varying in shade, spread from the neck down to below the collar.

Her face slowly turned red, unable to hold back her blushing.

Yu Chen reached out and pressed the deepest red mark on her collarbone, gently rubbing it.

She flinched and said coquettishly, "It hurts."

"Why didn't you say it hurt last night?" His voice was hoarse from the early morning.

Upon hearing this, Su Wuli raised her eyes to glare at him, then closed them again after a moment.

so tired.

She hugged his waist, pressed her face against his chest, and said in a muffled voice, "Can't I say it now...?"

After a while, she lifted her head from Yu Chen's arms again.

She opened her eyes a crack and looked at his resolute jawline.

She met his eyes, which were lowered slightly as he looked at her.

He muttered something.

Yu Chen didn't hear her clearly and asked her what she said.

Su Wuli buried her face back and mumbled that it was nothing.

The light outside the window grew brighter, and her breathing became shallower.

Yu Chen waited for a while, and when she was almost asleep again, he took her out of his arms.

He looked down at her and asked, "Going out?"

Su Wuli mumbled a sleepy reply, "Mmm..."

Yu Chen took his dark cloak from the clothes rack and wrapped it around Su Wuli from head to toe.

The cloak was very large, covering her entire body, with only a small section of her nose and half of her drooping eyelashes showing.

He lifted her up by the waist, and Su Wuli rubbed her face against his collar, finding a comfortable position to quietly continue sleeping.

In the courtyard, Chuhe and Qiaosheng stood in a corner with their heads down, not daring to look, but they couldn't help but steal glances from the corner of their eyes.

Yu Chen walked past them, his steps steady.

One corner of the cloak drooped down, fluttering gently in the morning breeze.

The two watched the cloak flutter past them before daring to follow in small steps.

A small section of Su Wuli's skirt drooped down from under her cloak.

The pale blue color, against the dark edge of the cloak, resembled the sprouting grass of spring.

The carriage was already prepared at the gate of the mansion.

The carriage was painted black, and the curtains were dark.

Yu Chen carried Su Wuli out of the mansion gate and stepped onto the carriage using the footboard.

The carriage swayed slightly.

He bent down and placed Su Wuli on the cushion, the cloak slipping off her shoulders.

Yu Chen pulled it up and covered it again, then sat down next to her.

He reached out and pulled her into his arms.

Su Wuli stirred, rubbed her face against his chest, and mumbled something indistinctly.

The coachman cracked his whip in the air, and the carriage started moving.

The horses' hooves made a soft clattering sound on the bluestone slabs, and the carriage swayed slightly as the wheels rolled over the cracks in the stones.

Su Wuli was jolted awake by the sudden movement, and opened her eyes a crack to look at Yu Chen.

"Cold..." she murmured with a hint of grievance.

Yu Chen pulled the cloak up even higher, covering her chin.

Su Wuli looked at him, but his gaze was still unfocused. After a while, he closed his eyes again.

She snuggled closer to him, searching for a source of warmth.
