The torrential rain was like countless hard whips, lashing the grass, trees, and rocks of Wild Elephant Valley. The rushing river was right in front of them, but the sound of gunfire behind them was already close at hand.

"Ling Qiao!" Su Ming glanced at a giant rock thirty meters away and gave the female agent beside him the most concise order, "Suppressive fire! Buy me three minutes!"

"Three minutes?" Ling Qiao was taken aback, but seeing Su Ming's calm eyes, she didn't ask any more questions. She just nodded, turned around, rolled on the spot, and neatly hid behind a rock. She then raised her gun and began firing at the edge of the woods.

With Ling Qiao providing cover, Su Ming had no more scruples. He swung his specially made tactical folding knife so fast that only a flash of silver light could be seen.

He cut bamboo as thick as a bowl with ease. He didn't need any rope at all. He quickly chiseled mortises at both ends of the bamboo and used the toughness of the wet bamboo to forcibly fix them together.

"Faster! Faster!"

Ling Qiao lay prone behind a rock thirty meters away, her Glock pistol still steaming in her hand. Her face was covered in mud and water, and her eyes were fixed on the edge of the woods.

boom!boom!

The bullet struck the rock, sending sparks flying.

"They're less than a hundred meters away!" Ling Qiao shouted, her voice hoarse. "I'm out of bullets!"

"Don't rush me. Don't you understand the spirit of craftsmanship? Slow and steady wins the race." Su Ming had a bamboo skewer in his mouth, but his hands didn't stop moving; they were moving so fast they were practically steaming. "Fatty, hand me that vine over there!"

Jerry huddled in a mud puddle at Su Ming's feet, his hands covering his head, his big butt sticking out, trembling.

"I'm not called Fatty, I'm called Jerry! I have a full name!" Jerry cried out, groping around on the ground with his eyes closed. He grabbed something wet and slippery and handed it over. "Here you go! You can have it all! I'll really thank you! I even lost one of my limited edition sneakers!"

Su Ming took it and glanced at it: "This is a dead snake."

"Huh?! A snake?!" Jerry suddenly opened his eyes, staring at the limp snake carcass in his hand. A scream pierced the rain, and his eyes rolled back as he nearly fainted.

"Making use of waste." Su Ming didn't mind at all, and directly stretched the dead snake straight to use as a rope. He wrapped it twice around the joint of the large bamboo raft and tied a knot. "It's quite tough, and it's genuine leather."

In Su Ming's eyes, everything is usable, and even a dead snake is nothing more than a flexible leather rope.

Less than three minutes.

A two-story bamboo raft, made from locally sourced materials and with a wildly shaped design, was thus created. It doesn't resemble a boat; it looks more like a giant winnowing basket with upturned ends.

"This...this is it?" Jerry stared at the rudimentary contraption, snot bubbles practically forming on his nose. "Dude, this is for floods! We're going to ride this 'basket' surfing? Even the Titanic is sturdier than this!"

"The Titanic sank, but my boat won't." Su Ming kicked the bamboo raft, which made a dull but solid "thump." "My grandfather said that as long as the structure is stable, even a coffin board can be used as a surfboard."

Ling Qiao cried out in despair, "What exactly does your grandfather do?! One minute he's a cook, the next a carpenter, does he have some hidden identity?"

"Part-time jobs, all part-time jobs."

Su Ming carried the unconscious medicine girl to the center of the bamboo raft.

The girl's body felt light and airy. She was curled up on the bamboo raft, covered with a few banana leaves.

Seeing this, Jerry shut his mouth, which was about to complain.

He shakily took off his mud-covered shirt and, though his heart ached, covered the girl with it.

Jerry sniffed and muttered under his breath, "This limited edition... you got a good deal, you little brat. Remember to pay me back in your next life."

"You still have a conscience. Looks like I don't need to throw you down to lose weight." Su Ming glanced at him.

Just now.

boom!

A grenade exploded not far away, the blast wave carrying dirt and raining down on us.

"Su Ming!" Ling Qiao rolled back, her left arm bleeding profusely from a large gash cut by shrapnel. "We can't hold them off! The Venomous Fang men have set up machine guns!"

At the edge of the woods, a dozen or so dark figures pressed forward. Venomous Fang stood in the center, the muzzle of his heavy machine gun still emitting blue smoke.

"Get in the water!"

Su Ming roared and kicked Jerry onto the bamboo raft, then pulled Ling Qiao up with him.

"push!"

Su Ming braced his long bamboo pole against the rocks on the bank.

The bamboo pole was five meters long. He tied a flat stone to the end and used the lever principle to make himself almost suspended in mid-air, pressing down on the bamboo pole.

creak-

The bamboo raft made a teeth-grinding scraping sound, then suddenly slid and plunged into the murky, roaring river.

"Fire! Smash that lousy raft!" Venom's voice was still clearly audible in the torrential rain.

Da da da da!

A hail of bullets chased after the bamboo raft, splashing water everywhere. Several bullets hit the stern of the raft, but since bamboo is cylindrical, most of the bullets slid off, leaving only a few bullet holes.

"Hold on tight!"

Su Ming stood at the front of the bamboo raft, his legs firmly planted on the raft, his eyes fixed on the rolling yellow and muddy waves ahead.
