Family connections: From special recruitment by the county committee to the pinnacle of power

Qi Hongchang patted Feng Mingshan's hand and laughed, saying, "What's wrong with that? It's all about serving the people."

"I should thank Director Feng. To have you personally write this, we could have used whichever office in the entire county government building we wanted!"

Feng Mingshan laughed heartily and said, "In that case, I shall respectfully accept your offer."

Seeing Feng Mingshan nod, Qi Hongchang waved to Wang Yonglin and Xu Hansheng and said, "Let's go out first, don't disturb Director Feng."

Wang Yonglin hurriedly handed the pen to Feng Mingshan, and then followed Qi Hongchang out of the office.

"Secretary Qi, please come and sit with me for a while."

As Wang Yonglin walked out of the office, he greeted Qi Hongchang with a broad smile.

Qi Hongchang nodded slightly, then turned to Xu Hansheng and said, "Come with me too, I have a few questions for you."

After saying that, Qi Hongchang walked towards Wang Yonglin's office.

Xu Hansheng had no choice but to follow Qi Hongchang and Wang Yonglin into Wang Yonglin's office.

Qi Hongchang sat down at the desk, and Wang Yonglin hurriedly made tea for him. Then, he stepped aside and stood three steps away from Qi Hongchang at the desk.

After picking up his teacup and taking a sip, Qi Hongchang's expression suddenly turned serious. He looked at Xu Hansheng and said, "I heard that Lin Mingyuan reported you to the Discipline Inspection Commission?"

Xu Hansheng nodded and said, "Yes, Secretary Qi, but I think this is just a misunderstanding and there's no need to make a big deal out of it."

Qi Hongchang raised his eyelids, sized up Xu Hansheng, and said, "Haven't you considered countersuing him for false accusation?"

"I don't believe you're just going to swallow this insult like this."

Xu Hansheng glanced furtively at Qi Hongchang's expression, took a deep breath, and then slowly said, "Secretary Qi, you're right, I am indeed very angry."

"However, I feel that, considering the bigger picture, the little grievance I suffered is nothing, and I will not secretly escalate the situation or report it to higher authorities."

"I would never report my comrades or even my superiors in the same way."

Clearly, Qi Hongchang didn't ask this question for Xu Hansheng's sake, but rather because he was worried that Xu Hansheng would report the matter to the Qingshan City Discipline Inspection Commission.

After all, Xu Hansheng was proven innocent, but the county discipline inspection commission did not punish Lin Mingyuan.

Anyone would feel very uncomfortable in that situation.

Although Qi Hongchang lives far away in the provincial capital, he keeps a close eye on every little thing that happens in the county.

Originally, he had intended to inquire about this matter as soon as he arrived in the county, but he had not been able to find the time to do so.

Only now did Qi Hongchang have a moment to call Xu Hansheng into an office alone.

Qi Hongchang was quite satisfied with Xu Hansheng's reply, and then smiled and said, "So you're just going to put up with it like that?"

Xu Hansheng thought for a moment and said to Qi Hongchang, "If you weren't the county party secretary, I would take this matter all the way to the provincial discipline inspection commission to get an explanation."

"However, I know very well that you are sincere in wanting to change the face of Yutong County. If you are transferred, Yutong County may miss an opportunity for economic take-off."

"This is something that is closely related to my own interests, as well as the interests of my parents."

"Therefore, it's not a matter of whether to endure or not; everything is subordinate to the overall situation."

Qi Hongchang narrowed his eyes and said indifferently, "Oh? What does this have to do with your parents?"

Xu Hansheng took a deep breath and said, "Secretary Qi, I'm not referring to Lin Mingyuan's report against me, but rather the fact that the economic development of Yutong County is related to our family."

"As you know, my family owns a restaurant. If the economy improves, we'll naturally have more customers, and my parents can retire sooner, right?"

"Moreover, I feel that since there has been no news from County Chief Lin so far, if I make a big fuss over such a trivial matter and cause a stir, and it happens to have a negative impact on Secretary Qi, then I will really regret it."

"Furthermore, this incident has been a test of my personal integrity by the Party and the organization, which has strengthened my confidence and determination to serve the people."

"Only outstanding work results can be the best and most powerful counterattack against all slanderers."

Qi Hongchang listened to Xu Hansheng finish speaking with his eyes slightly closed, then nodded and waved his hand, saying, "Well, I hope you can keep your word."

Then, Qi Hongchang said to Xu Hansheng, "There's one more thing I need to inform you. The cattle-raising plan you proposed earlier has been officially renamed the 'Pastoral Ranch Project' after research and decision by the province, and our county will be the first to pilot it."

"The province's opinion is that we should not only focus on animal husbandry, but also integrate it with various surrounding industries. Therefore, the direction of the research needs to be adjusted."

"Next, we need to start from the current economic situation of Longping Town and its various industrial structures, and propose corresponding plans and contingency plans to fully implement the rural ranch project."

"We not only need to take care of the revenue from animal husbandry, but also integrate it closely with the local economy so that the whole town can benefit."

"I'll give you a month to conduct thorough research and produce a satisfactory research report."

Xu Hansheng nodded heavily and said, "Yes, Secretary Qi, I will definitely submit a qualified research report within a month."

"If there's nothing else, I'll head back to work now."

Qi Hongchang waved his hand and said, "Go ahead."

Xu Hansheng responded and quickly walked out of Wang Yonglin's office.

A dozen minutes later, when Xu Hansheng returned to the research room, Lin Mingyuan and the others had already gone out to conduct research.

Only Wang Yu, Chen Ling, and Zhao Dongxu remained in the office.

Xu Hansheng clapped his hands lightly and said to the group, "Everyone, put aside your work for now. There is a major directional adjustment to the research work in Longping Town."

Upon hearing this, Zhao Dongxu and the others hurriedly put down their work, took out their notebooks, and looked at Xu Hansheng with serious expressions.

Xu Hansheng then repeated Qi Hongchang's words.

Finally, he addressed the group, saying, "Starting tomorrow, everyone except Comrade Chen Ling will come with me to Longping Town for on-site research."

Zhao Dongxu and Wang Yu both nodded and said, "Yes, Section Chief."

Xu Hansheng thought for a moment and said to Zhao Dongxu and Wang Yu, "You should also let your families know that you'll probably be leaving early and coming home late these days, so don't let your families worry."

The two nodded repeatedly, and Zhao Dongxu stood up with a smile, saying, "Section Chief, from what you just mentioned about the research areas, it seems that the health department was included. Should I have my uncle personally speak to Longping Town?"

Xu Hansheng thought for a moment and nodded, saying, "That's fine. If it's convenient for Director Chen, it would be good to have someone from the health department accompany me on a walk. Ecology, health, and epidemic prevention are also key areas we need to investigate."

Zhao Dongxu said with a forced smile, "How about letting my uncle come with us..."

Upon hearing this, Xu Hansheng waved his hand to interrupt, saying, "No way! Director Chen has his own work. Investigating Longping Town is our job. The entire county party committee office is watching us. Even if we try to use connections, there are limits. Do you understand what I mean?"
