The boy soldier next to the famous detective
The last person I treated this way in Chapter 48 was Gin.
"This is reverse amnesia, a type of memory disorder caused by a sudden illness or injury that prevents the recall of memories prior to the injury."
"Your daughter likely suffered a severe psychological shock from witnessing Officer Sato being injured, which led to her amnesia."
The psychologist's words were hard for Kogoro Mouri and his family to accept, but it was the truth, and they could only wait for Ran Mouri to recover on her own.
At Kogoro Mouri's repeated requests, Inspector Megure finally revealed the case that was involved in this incident.
Jonah was still completely confused, but this time he didn't place all his hopes on Conan Edogawa.
He also wanted to try his best to analyze the situation and see if he could find the culprit who caused Xiaolan's amnesia as soon as possible, even if it was just a little faster.
Although they learned the relevant information, the investigation did not go smoothly. Jonah and the others were also worried about Ran Mouri's situation and stayed with her at the hospital for several days.
After Professor Agasa learned of this, he brought Ai Haibara and the three children to the hospital to visit Ran Mouri, hoping that the appearance of some familiar people could slightly stimulate Ran's memory. Unfortunately, Ran still couldn't remember anything.
Ai Haibara looked at Ran Mouri with a calm expression, feeling a pang of regret. Although she wasn't very good at interacting with Ran, Ai knew she was a kind-hearted girl.
Just as she was about to ask Conan Edogawa, who was standing next to her, Ai Haibara suddenly turned her head and looked sharply in the direction behind her.
"What's wrong, Haibara?"
"It felt like someone was staring at us."
Before Ai Haibara could finish speaking, Jonah rushed out and quickly ran behind the trees, but found no suspicious people.
"Jonah, have you found anything?"
"no."
Seeing Jonah return, Conan Edogawa anxiously asked.
"No, I didn't see any strange people."
If it were just a one-time occurrence, Jonah and Conan could attribute it to a coincidence. However, after they escorted the exhausted Ran Mouri back to her hospital room, Jonah and Conan simultaneously noticed someone peering into the room through the glass at the door.
This time, the two rushed out together, but still found nothing. Apart from doctors, nurses, and some ordinary patients, no one looked suspicious.
"What are you two doing running off to all of a sudden?"
"Uncle, do you think Sister Xiaolan might have seen the killer's face before she lost consciousness?"
Because of the two incidents, Jonah and Conan Edogawa realized that someone was still spying on Ran Mouri, which made the situation even more serious.
"If that's the case, the murderer will definitely look for an opportunity to kill Sister Xiaolan to silence her."
Having reached this conclusion, Inspector Megure and his team immediately dispatched police forces to provide 24-hour protection for Ran Mouri.
If Ran Mouri were to regain her memories, she might be able to help them apprehend the criminals as quickly as possible, given that she may have seen their faces.
This was also a good thing for Jonah. Jonah was not good at investigating criminals, but waiting for them to come to him was exactly what he did.
From that day on, Jonah stayed by Ran's side 24 hours a day without interruption. Even when he slept, he returned to his old state from the battlefield. Even if there were beds available in the ward, he would not go up to them, but would just pull the blanket over himself and curl up in the corner.
This state of sleep allowed Jonah to immediately perceive changes in the outside world and react accordingly. Although it could not fully restore his energy, it was enough for Jonah.
Kogoro Mouri and Eri Kisaki both tried to persuade Jonah that he didn't need to do this, but Jonah was adamant and there was nothing they could do.
After several days of examinations, Ran Mouri's condition did not improve. At this point, the doctor suggested that Ran return to a relatively familiar and relaxed environment, which might help her recover her memory.
After discussing it, Kogoro Mouri took Ran Mouri home, but unfortunately, Ran still acted like a stranger in the face of everything that should have been familiar to her.
"Jonah, haven't you found anything today either?"
As he yawned and came downstairs, Conan Edogawa looked at Jonah kneeling on a chair, peering out the window, and asked him a question.
"No one suspicious was found."
"Really? It seems they don't want to act rashly either. Let's pack up. Aunt Eri said she's taking Ran out for a stroll today; we can't just stay home all the time."
"I understand. Wait a moment, I'm going to the professor's house to get something."
"No, Jonah, I know you're angry too, but it's not that bad yet!"
The lingering drowsiness vanished instantly. Conan Edogawa looked at Jonah in horror and raised his hand to stop Jonah from reaching for the automatic rifle.
"An electric pistol is enough!"
Seeing Conan Edogawa so excited, Jonah reluctantly agreed.
Unfortunately, Conan Edogawa's attempts to dissuade him were ineffective.
On the platform, Jonah, together with Conan Edogawa, managed to pull Ran Mouri back from being pushed onto the tracks at the last second. Jonah immediately looked around, but the dense crowd blocked his view due to his short stature, which annoyed him as he lost sight of the culprit once again.
This time, even Conan Edogawa's attempts to stop him didn't work.
While waiting for Ran Mouri's test results at the hospital, Conan Edogawa looked up and saw Jonah walking towards him with the bulletproof plate backpack. Even though he was feeling down, he couldn't help but twitch his lips.
Without even asking Conan Edogawa, one would know that the backpack was already packed with a rifle, a pistol, and bullets, and perhaps even a few smoke grenades and flashbangs.
"Jonah, promise me, if you want to shoot, you mustn't let anyone see you."
He slapped Jonah's shoulders heavily with both hands and looked at Jonah seriously, saying in a deep voice.
"Please don't kill him, please don't, I beg you!"
"it is good."
Now that Jonah had arrived at the hospital, Conan Edogawa could finally relax and re-examine the scene. He felt there was something he had overlooked.
Jonah stayed by Ran's side the whole time, watching Sonoko Suzuki bring a photo album and point to each picture as she told Ran about the past.
Just then, a video of a tropical paradise suddenly started playing on the TV in the hospital corridor. Ran Mouri, who had been looking confused, suddenly stared at it and stood up without realizing it.
"I know this place from TV!"
"Um?"
