Noxus Glory
Chapter 70 Rich Loot
Chapter 70 Rich Loot
A biting wind swept across the hills, ruffling the blood-stained robes.
Huo Jixing saw the minotaur Heig lying quietly on the ground, his horns broken, his specially made steel armor shattered, and his chest completely collapsed, revealing his bare bones.
Noxian veteran Sharuba leaned against the mountain wall, his resolute face still bearing traces of anger. Even though he had lost the breath of life, his body remained as straight as a pine tree.
Rand, once a Noxian scout as valiant as a wolf.
Now he has lost both arms and his neck is broken, lying on the blood-stained ground like a shattered toy.
There was also the war stonemason Oakes, whose weathered face was covered with scars, but he stood like a rock before the sword-wielding boy Heiny until death came.
"Eric!"
Looking at the tall figure slumped on the ground not far away, Huo Jixing's eyes paused, and disbelief and sorrow appeared on his bloodless face.
It once brought a sense of security, its body resembling that of a ferocious tiger, now covered in hideous scars.
His rugged face still bore the fury of someone who had roared at death, yet now he lay motionless, like a blood-red sculpture.
Behind Eric was DeWitt.
The young Noxian scout was receiving treatment from a Noxian Scarlet Rider, his arms and waist wrapped in bandages, specks of blood seeping through.
"What is the true face of war?"
Huo Jixing supported his body with his runic weapon, standing there blankly like a withered vine or an old tree, staring blankly at everything in front of him.
In a daze, he felt as if he had returned to the Noxian camp.
I recall the scene when I first met everyone in that three-story building.
The sheer size of the Minotaur Hag, the weathered experience of the Noxian veteran Sharuba, Rand's untamed spirit, and the familiar faces of others.
"Death and suffering are the very rhythm of war!" Wilson walked to Huo Jixing's side and softly comforted him.
"They gave their lives for the victory of Noxus, and the Empire will never forget them."
He gazed at his old friend Eric's body, a pang of sadness welling up within him.
But he quickly suppressed his emotions, knowing that the war was far from over.
Bang!
A dull sound came from beside me.
Huo Jixing and Wilson turned around and saw two mangled corpses falling from the sky and landing in front of them.
Huo Jixing instantly recognized their identities.
They are Spirit Fox Wanderer Leer and Frostfang Shaman Hikaru.
The two men, who had just been so imposing and ready to launch a surprise attack, were now completely lifeless, their necks broken and their heads hanging askew from their bodies.
Tap tap! Tap tap! Tap tap!
Just as Huo Jixing was feeling surprised, a soft sound came from down the hillside.
In a short while, a desert dragon lizard covered in hard scales appeared in sight, its two thick hind legs standing on the dry ground, and its fan-like ears hanging on both sides of its head.
It first poked its head out and cautiously observed the situation at the top of the hill. After seeing Huo Jixing and Wilson, it turned its dark pupils and curiously looked around.
"Kid, look at these two filthy guys. Aren't they the superhumans who attacked you?"
The furious knight Kree stretched out his right hand and placed it on Skaarl's green head, gripped the reins tightly, and walked up to Hoji Star.
He lowered his head slightly, looking down at Huo Jixing, his split lips tearing into a beautiful arc, his sharp teeth like a wild beast displaying its pride.
"They run pretty fast, but they can't keep up with Skaar."
"Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle."
As if understanding Kree's praise, Skal raised his head, opened his large, bell-like eyes, and looked around at everyone.
"Yes, Lord Kree."
Hojixing walked past the corpses of Leer and Hikaru, stood before the desert dragon lizard Sgar, and gave Kree a formal military salute.
He realized that Kree had specifically gone to hunt down these two Winter's Claw superhumans.
The Frostfang Shaman was alright, but under the pressure of the Desert Dragon Lizard, the Frostfang Giant Wolf was no longer as fierce as before and couldn't outrun Skaarl at all.
However, the Spirit Fox Wanderer is an agile superhuman, and if he is focused on escaping, it will take some effort to catch up with him.
"Kid, you're pretty good."
Kree rode Skarr up to Hoji Star, looked at his emaciated body, and extended an invitation.
"Interested in joining my ranks?"
"I am Colonel Kree... no, I am General Kree!"
Huo Jixing was taken aback; the invitation was somewhat unexpected, and he didn't know how to respond.
Just as he hesitated, Wilson beside him spoke up at the opportune moment: "Lord Kree, he is already General Darius's man. What you are doing is somewhat against the rules."
"Rules? What rules?" Kree said nonchalantly.
"In the Noxian Legion, I, Kled, am the rule."
"I hope you'll say the same thing when you see General Darius," Wilson said softly, then stood with his hands clasped beside Kree.
"Forehead"
Kree's only remaining eye began to move, first glancing at Hoji Star, and then at Wilson.
He then swung his axe and shouted at the Noxian Scarlet Cavalry below the hillside.
"Move out, clear the battlefield quickly, we're ready to leave."
Judging from Kree's current situation, he makes no mention of the matter of recruiting Huo Jixing.
"Lord Kree, did you see their weapons?"
Seeing that Kree had lost interest, Hojixing gently stepped on the heads of the Frostfang Shaman and the Spirit Fox Wanderer, fiddling with their corpses, but he couldn't find the weapons they had just used in the battle.
"Oh, you mean their True Ice weapons?" Kree asked, puzzled.
In his mind, only the warriors of the Iceborn could endure the bone-chilling cold of the Iceborn and use it on the battlefield.
Seeing Huo Jixing nod, he scratched his head: "I didn't mind, you can go look for it."
"But we need to hurry. We need to get to Winterthorn Road as soon as possible. Darius is still waiting for my rescue." Kled patted Skaarl's head, seemingly trying to save face, and joked about Darius.
"Okay." Huo Jixing nodded quickly, dragging his somewhat recovered body down the hillside.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
A biting wind howled, and the strong smell of blood filled the air.
Huo Jixing looked at the corpses scattered haphazardly along the mountain path. Noxian Scarlet Cavalry were methodically executing the surviving Blood Warriors and collecting loot along the way.
Walking along the blood-red ground, he first found the True Ice Gauntlets on the broken carcass beside the Juvask Boar.
After crossing the battlefield, they found the Spirit Fox Wanderer's Ice Blade and the Frostfang Shaman's Blue Rune Necklace in the nearby mountains.
"Tsk tsk, it feels really good to have a big shot looking after you."
Huo Jixing looked at the two True Ice weapons and rune items in his hand, which were covered by a faint Southern Flame, and sighed softly.
Then, thinking of those who sacrificed their lives in this fierce battle, he slowly suppressed his inner joy.
"Blood is the wine of victory; you'll gradually get used to its taste!"
Huo Jixing recalled DeWitt's words and gradually began to understand their meaning.
Isn't victory in war won with blood?
