Chapter 46 Winter's Claw: War Mother Sejuani
The cold, gloomy weather, like a continuous drizzle, soaked through the Ironthorn Mountains.
Endless snowflakes fell softly from the sky, one after another, draping the earth in a brand new white coat.
A tall figure with disheveled hair, wrapped in a fur coat, walked slowly along the mountain path covered in tracks.
With the help of the dim starlight, one can vaguely see the tall figure with a strong and muscular physique. His bulging muscles fill out his coat, resembling a undulating mountain, solid and powerful.
With each step, I could clearly feel an overwhelming power.
Despite the increasingly biting wind, the tall figure showed no sign of stopping and continued walking forward.
Across the frozen river, lights flickered in the distance, seemingly depicting warmth and abundance.
The tall figure unconsciously slowed his pace, as if recalling the roaring fire in his former home, with plush blankets spread around the fireplace, exuding warmth.
Whoosh!
The ice suddenly cracked, startling the tall figure who was lost in his memories.
Looking up at the falling snow, the tall figure shivered and wrapped his already damp fur coat tighter around himself.
Is a cold wave about to hit?
Gazing at the low-hanging sun in the distance, the tall figure frowned.
This foreshadows an extremely dangerous cold wave that could sweep across Freljord at any moment during the harsh winter.
Not far across the river, he could see Sejuani's main force advancing.
The continued victories in the war have allowed the Winter's Claw tribe to absorb dozens of other clans and win over many blood alliances.
Sejuani is now a true Warmother—commanding thousands of Blood Warriors, Heavy Infantry, Mammoth Riders, and Frostbloods.
Ahead of the main force, the vanguard was setting up rows of domed tents, serving as both residences for her blood allies and outposts for scouts.
Blue boundary markers marked Sejuani's tent, embroidered with runes, standing tall in the center of the camp.
As the tall figure walked forward, saliva dripped down his long chin, and the unbearable hunger made him grind his teeth.
At first he thought it was just his own feeling, but he soon saw a wolfhound trotting past him.
He roared at the dog, struggling to control his jaw and shake off the animal's intrusive consciousness.
He discovered that Sejuani was helping the Blood Alliance set up tents.
That's Sejuani's style—doing everything herself, big or small.
Setting up a mammoth hide tent on muddy ground was a real ordeal. Sejuani plunged a giant tusk spear into the mud, but stumbled and fell to her knees.
The nearby Blood Alliance warriors were also suffering in the cold rain, their curses rising and falling in unison.
Sejuani got up, set up the mammoth skin tent, and saw a tall figure walking towards her in the distance. His deep voice drowned out the falling snow.
"Look at this weather, we don't need to argue anymore, Udyr."
Udyr laughed, looking at Sejuani, who had broad shoulders and wore a horned helmet: "The Noxians have launched a full-scale war, and I think you need your help."
The consciousness of a dozen or so passing horses filled Udir's mind, and he felt their frozen muscles shivering involuntarily.
Udir snapped at the nearest horse, "Shut up! There's no oats!"
The Blood Clan members surrounding Sejuani were startled, some looking astonished, seemingly unable to comprehend the scene before them.
But Sejuani gave them a stern look.
The blood alliance clans immediately turned back to their work, and no matter how strange the shaman's behavior was, they had no right to interfere.
Udyr hid his hands behind his back and took out a silver dagger from his hidden pocket.
He plunged the thorn into his palm.
Although not as effective as meditation, the pain cleared his mind, allowing him to concentrate on speaking like a normal person.
"War has begun, and you need more power, but you shouldn't cooperate with those guys! They're no longer true Freljordians!"
"We don't have time, Udyr," Sejuani said, waiting for his gaze to settle before pointing to the soft tent beside her.
"We must win this war, or we'll freeze to death!" She then gestured to several older soldiers nearby.
"Most of the toothless ones gave their rations to their children. Yesterday, I helped Ogay bury her daughter." Sejuani pursed her lips, which had turned a dark purple from the cold, with a bitter smile.
"That child lived for two summers, but looked thin and small, as if he had just reached his first spring." She sighed, looked away, and continued.
"I will never let another child freeze or starve to death because of my decision."
"Then attack immediately." Udyr pointed south, towards the direction of the Noxian invasion.
"Believe in axes and muscles, claws and teeth. The old way."
"The old method is to send out the strongest warriors," Sejuani interrupted.
"What clan is stronger than the Bearmen? How many of us will die before we can cross the river without their help? I have promised my people strength and victory; I cannot watch my army starve to death."
She placed a hand on Udir's shoulder. "I know you have every reason to be worried about them."
"You will never understand the power of the Old God. He is gradually awakening, and your thoughts cannot be hidden!" Udyr retorted angrily to Sejuani.
"Bear-men. They are slaves of the Old Gods and never obey the commands of outsiders."
The pain in his palms was nothing compared to the resolute determination in his heart that brought Udyr back to his senses. He lowered his voice.
"Their bloodlust will spread. They'll devour us completely."
"You have survived much more difficult times before."
Udyr's mind began to spiral out of control, with the consciousness of pigs, horses, wolves, humans, and even Ernuk all crashing into his head.
He resisted fiercely, for he knew this was his last chance to dissuade Sejuani.
"I have no other choice!" Sejuani's tone was devoid of any warmth or respect.
"Just like you said before, a new tribe submits to Avarosan every month, while in my clan, people die every single day!"
"How can we make Winter's Claw stronger if we don't defeat the Noxian army?"
"Only by ourselves?"
Udir's hopes were dashed: "Then let me take my leave."
He said in a conceding tone, "The hunting lord will not be pleased to see me."
Sejuani's expression softened, then she looked at the dejected Udyr and smiled slyly: "No!"
"That's why I need you to stay. You can help negotiate with the bear people, or you can let me die in this storm."
Udir fell silent. He looked at the tall, strong woman with a resolute and courageous face before him, and vaguely saw the skinny little girl he had met many seasons ago.
Perhaps deep down he hoped Sejuani would never grow up.
At the time, Sejuani desperately needed his guidance, but now, or in a few years, Udyr fears he will become a burden and a liability to her.
"I can't look at you, Old God," Udyr said with difficulty.
Tap tap! Tap tap! Tap tap!
Before Udir could finish speaking, hurried footsteps interrupted him.
A blood warrior leader, clad in armor and covered in fur, with bloodstains smeared on his face, strode to Sejuani's side and spoke in a low voice.
"Lucash's Blood Warrior squad has gone missing!"
Sejuani's hardened expression shifted, and she looked at the Blood Warrior leader with a serious expression, quickly asking, "What time? Where?"
The Blood Warrior leader looked at the shaman before him and hesitated for a moment.
"Udyr, come in!"
Sejuani patted the Blood Warrior leader on the shoulder and strode towards the mammoth hide tent that had already been set up, turning back to look at Udyr halfway there.
Just as Udir was about to take a step, the consciousness of various animals reappeared in his mind.
He bent over, hunched over, panting heavily, a dim blue light flickering in his tired eyes.
"Old God Thunder, I will absolutely not let you succeed!"
I asked the editor, and they said there are no more recommendations.
Sigh, just like the last one, I'm working on it out of love and will try my best to update!
