On the day of the divorce, I became Qin Shao's darling.

Chapter 132 A Heartbreaking Tale of Life and Death

On his ICU bed, Su Daqiang, who had been intubated for several days, felt like he was being slowly tortured with every breath.

Su Linlin stayed by the bedside. When she saw her brother coming over, she got up and made way for him.

Junjun, wearing a mask and sterile clothing, was carried to the bedside by Su Yunfan.

Su Daqiang, who was incoherent, seemed to move his eyes slightly, but there was no reaction.

"Dad, look who's come to see you," Su Yunfan said softly.

Su Daqiang remained lying there quietly.

With tears welling in her eyes, Su Linlin choked out, "I called out for so long, but Dad couldn't hear me. I don't think he'll make it through today..."

Two doctors accompanied Su Yunfan in, to take care of Junjun's physical condition.

Upon hearing from Su Linlin that the patient had not responded, the doctor immediately went to examine him.

Then came a helpless sigh.

"Let your child shout a few times, it might help," the doctor suggested.

Su Yunfan immediately looked at his son in his arms, "Junjun, wake up Grandpa. He can definitely hear you."

Three-year-old Junjun was a little scared when he saw his grandfather looking like this.

Su Yunfan lowered him down, and he instinctively shrank into Su Yunfan's arms.

"Junjun, this is Grandpa, don't be afraid... Grandpa is sick and sleeping, wake him up." Seeing the child's fear, Su Yunfan could only keep comforting him.

Fortunately, Junjun was obedient. After Su Yunfan persuaded him several times, he finally looked at the semi-conscious Su Daqiang and called out in his tender little voice, "Grandpa."

"Grandpa...it's me, Junjun."

"Grandpa, wake up..."

"Dad, didn't you just want to see your grandson? Now that Junjun is here, open your eyes and take a look." Su Linlin squatted down by the hospital bed and said, crying.

Miraculously, after Junjun called out a few more times, Su Daqiang actually opened his eyes and woke up.

"Ah... Ahh—" Unfortunately, because of the intubation, he could no longer speak clearly and could only make indistinct, fragmented sounds.

"Brother, Dad raised his hand. Let Junjun shake hands with him," Su Linlin quickly reminded him.

Su Yunfan lowered the child a little, letting the child's small hand fall into the father's withered palm.

Su Daqiang used all his strength to slowly clench his grandson's hand.

Those cloudy, lifeless eyes burst into tears uncontrollably.

Clearly, these were tears of joy at finally seeing her grandson and having her wish fulfilled.

Seeing this, the doctor next to him also felt sad and turned his face away.

"Grandpa, don't cry. Junjun doesn't cry when he gets a shot..."

Seeing Su Daqiang cry, the three-year-old child comforted him while reaching out to wipe away his tears.

Even Su Linlin, who is usually so sharp-tongued, had to admit that Lin Xiwei had raised her child very well.

"Junjun, Grandpa isn't afraid of pain, Grandpa is happy. Grandpa is happy to see you, you know?"

As Su Linlin comforted Junjun, a pang of regret swept through her heart.

She lost such a good nephew.

Junjun stayed by Su Daqiang's bedside for more than ten minutes until Su Daqiang was too weak and fell into a coma again.

Su Yunfan carried the child out and handed him over to the Qin family elders.

"Junjun, say goodbye to your dad, we're going back now." Mr. Qin gestured for the child to say goodbye.

Junjun waved his hand: "Goodbye, Dad."

Su Yunfan watched longingly, his heart filled with reluctance.

When Su Linlin came out, she saw that her brother's eyes were red and she knew what he was thinking.

"Brother, have you gone to see Lin Xiwei? Even though you sincerely repent, she still won't give you another chance?"

Looking at his son laughing and talking in Mr. Qin's arms, Su Yunfan said like a zombie, "She got married today, to that lawyer."

"What?!" Su Linlin exclaimed in surprise, "She moved so fast! It's only been a short time since the divorce! It's like a seamless transition!"

Thinking of his father who was about to pass away, Su Yunfan couldn't care less about his feelings for his children. He didn't say anything, turned around sadly, and went back to his bedside to keep watch.

When Qin's parents took Junjun back to the hospital where they had been hospitalized, Qin Jiamo called.

Lin Xiwei told him about it.

He was also worried that Su Yunfan might be up to something, so he quickly came to ask.

"There's nothing ulterior motive; we just wanted Junjun to meet his father, and we came back after that," Mr. Qin said.

Mrs. Qin immediately took her husband's phone. "Jiamo, let me tell you, it's fortunate that you and Weiwei got your marriage certificate quickly. I think that man clearly regrets it; he definitely wants to remarry. If his father had passed away, and he had shown weakness to Weiwei at this critical juncture, maybe Weiwei would have softened and given in."

Therefore, the old lady believes that their decision to register their marriage this morning was a very wise one.

Although Qin Jiamo felt that Lin Xiwei wouldn't be so confused, it was true that getting the marriage certificate sooner would put her at ease.

Now that Junjun had returned safely, Qin Jiamo hung up the phone with relief and continued with her work.

Around 4 PM.

Lin Xiwei received a message from an unknown number.

[My father passed away peacefully. Thank you for letting Junjun come and keep him company.]

Lin Xiwei immediately recognized that the message was sent by Su Yunfan.

Lin Xiwei felt somewhat saddened upon seeing this news.

For some reason, she suddenly thought of Sheng Ruichen's aunt and uncle.

Suddenly, she felt that death was so close to her.

Mr. Qin said that when a person reaches that point, all grudges and hatred should come to an end.

She wavered and suddenly wanted to go see them.

After a moment of confusion, Lin Xiwei came to her senses, opened her mobile banking app, and transferred a sum of money to Su Yunfan.

One hundred thousand.

The funeral expenses for your father are a token of my appreciation.

One hundred thousand yuan is definitely not enough for a proper burial.

But if it's done simply, that's enough.

As a former daughter-in-law, she believed she had observed the proper etiquette.

In the evening, we had originally planned to go to Uncle Meng's private restaurant to celebrate our marriage registration day in a simple way.

But Lin Xiwei was in no mood for it, so she told Qin Jiamo that she would do it another day.

Qin Jiamo, upon learning of Su Daqiang's death, understood Lin Xiwei's feelings and agreed.

When Lin Xiwei informed Chu Qing, Chu Qing was also surprised to hear the news.

"He's gone so quickly? When the old man was scolding you, his voice was so booming, he sounded like he'd live to be a hundred!"

"Yes, I also feel it goes by very quickly; life is sometimes very fragile."

Chu Qing sighed, "Su Yunfan must regret it. He gave up a good life to pursue some white moonlight, which led to the destruction of his family and heavy debts."

"Maybe so, but unfortunately there's no going back in life."

After getting off work, Lin Xiwei went straight to the hospital.

When Junjun saw her coming, he waved to her.

She smiled and walked over, gently asking, "What does my darling want to say?"

The little one blinked his big eyes and said very seriously, "Mommy, Grandpa is sick and he's asleep."

Lin Xiwei's heart skipped a beat when she heard this. She paused for a moment before hugging her son and replying, "Yes, Grandpa doesn't feel the pain when he's asleep."

"Mom, if I'm sick too, will I fall asleep like Grandpa?"

"No, that won't happen." Lin Xiwei quickly shook her head, then looked at her son and immediately corrected him, "Junjun's illness will be cured. After he's cured, you'll go to school, meet lots of friends, and go to many fun places."

"That's good... I don't want to fall asleep. I want to play with Mom, Uncle, and Grandpa and Grandma."

"Yes, we also really enjoy playing with Junjun."

The mother and son chatted for a long time until Junjun got tired and fell into a deep sleep.

The ward door opened gently, and Lin Xiwei turned around to see Qin Jiamo.
