Chapter 131 Changing Address to "Mom and Dad"
Su Yunfan stepped forward and blocked Lin Xiwei's path.
"Is something the matter?" Lin Xiwei asked calmly.
Su Yunfan stared at her, his gaze immediately falling on the dazzling pigeon egg on the ring finger of her left hand.
"You married him?" His eyes widened, and he looked up to ask.
"Yes, we got our marriage certificate this morning," Lin Xiwei said truthfully, not wanting to hide anything.
So that he would give up completely.
Sure enough, Su Yunfan looked grief-stricken, as if he had been struck in a vital spot, and his shoulders and back slumped.
Lin Xiwei glanced at him, said nothing, and simply walked past him.
"Weiwei, my dad is dying. He wants to see Junjun. Could you take the child with me to the hospital?" Su Yunfan turned around, looked at her back, and pleaded.
Lin Xiwei paused and turned around.
"Isn't your dad still in the ICU?"
"Yes, but the doctor said it's heart failure, and even if we keep him on a ventilator to keep him alive, it's all in vain and we'll just be wasting money."
Su Yunfan was heavily in debt and had no money to keep Su Daqiang alive.
Even if one had the money to prolong life, this way of living would be extremely painful, so it would be better to simply die.
Lin Xiwei frowned as she looked at his bloodshot eyes.
She didn't dare believe Su Yunfan's words, fearing it was some kind of trap.
But what if it's true...?
Although she had little affection for Su Daqiang, Su Daqiang was still quite good to Junjun.
A dying man's words are often good.
She was ultimately not ruthless enough and couldn't refuse.
"Doesn't your father know that Junjun is a child of the Qin family?" Lin Xiwei suddenly asked.
"I don't know. He's been in the ICU. Who told him these things?" Su Yunfan explained casually.
Lin Xiwei thought about the timeline and realized that Su Daqiang had been seriously ill for many days and was certainly unaware of what was happening outside.
Su Yunfan continued, "Besides, it doesn't matter whose child Junjun is, he's not mine anyway. My dad doted on him like his own grandson for three years, and he just wanted to see him one last time before he passed away."
Lin Xiwei nodded, understanding her elders' thoughts.
She thought for a moment and said, "Junjun is also hospitalized for his second round of chemotherapy. I have to go to work and it's inconvenient for me to take time off, but I will arrange for someone to take him there so your father can see him."
Su Yunfan looked at her, "Aren't you going?"
"Me?" Lin Xiwei gave a wry smile. "What would a former daughter-in-law like me do there?"
Su Yunfan lowered his head and remained silent.
Seeing him like this, Lin Xiwei felt a pang of pity for a moment.
But then I thought, adults pay the price for their own choices, so there's nothing to pity about them.
She turned and walked into the office building, while simultaneously calling Mrs. Qin.
"Weiwei, have you two gotten your marriage certificate yet?"
When Madam Qin received the call, she was overjoyed, thinking that Lin Xiwei was calling to share good news.
"Yes, we got our marriage certificate. I'm already back at the company."
After answering, Lin Xiwei paused for a moment, then said somewhat awkwardly, "Godmother, there's something I want to discuss with you."
"What is it? Tell me."
"It's my ex-husband's father. He's suffering from heart failure, and the doctor said... he might not make it. His last wish is to see Junjun one last time. But I just got to the company, and it's hard to ask for leave now. Plus, I don't want to face that scene, so..."
Lin Xiwei spoke haltingly, finding it difficult to even utter the words herself.
But after hearing this, Madam Qin said almost without hesitation, "I understand. Don't worry, we'll take Junjun there."
Lin Xiwei felt grateful and guilty. "Godmother, I've caused you trouble again."
"What are you saying? And shouldn't you change how you address me? You're my daughter-in-law now, and I'm your mother-in-law. It's only right that I, as your mother-in-law, help you with things you can't do yourself."
Lin Xiwei hadn't thought of this yet.
She had finally gotten used to being called "godfather" and "godmother," but now she has to change her address to "Dad" and "Mom."
Lin Xiwei couldn't hear what Mr. Qin was saying on the other end of the phone.
Madam Qin relayed the message: "Your father said that when a person reaches that point, all grudges and hatred should be put to rest. It's only right that Junjun go and see him. As his former daughter-in-law, it's inappropriate for you to show up, to avoid any awkwardness."
"Okay, then I'll trouble you to talk to... Godfather." She was still not used to that form of address.
"Leave it to us."
After hanging up the phone, Lin Xiwei breathed a sigh of relief.
This day is filled with passion in the morning and joy in the afternoon, but by noon—it's time to experience the sorrow of birth, aging, sickness, and death.
Back at her workstation, Huanhuan immediately noticed the enormous diamond ring on her finger, her eyes widening as she held Huanhuan's hand in astonishment: "Wow, how many carats is that? I wouldn't dare buy a fake one this big!"
Lin Xiwei, still recovering from her shock, smiled faintly and said, "This is fake."
"Huh? That can't be right!"
"Really, this is fake."
Lin Xiwei speaks like she's reciting a tongue twister.
Fortunately, the deputy manager came over to assign tasks, and Huanhuan quickly turned around and returned to her seat. Lin Xiwei also put aside her thoughts and started working.

in the hospital.
The Qin family elders were also very reliable in handling matters.
They are willing to fulfill the dying wish of a person, but that doesn't mean they will be completely unprepared.
Therefore, the two elders brought bodyguards with them.
Just as Su Yunfan returned to the ward, the Qin family elders arrived with Junjun.
Su Yunfan, who had fallen to the lowest point, felt a sudden warmth in his chest and almost burst into tears when he saw his former "son".
"Junjun." He tried to go forward to hug the child, but the bodyguard stopped him first.
Mr. Qin raised his hand. "Let him come over."
Su Yunfan then moved closer and walked up to Junjun.
"Dad," Junjun looked up at him and called out.
Su Yunfan squatted down and hugged the child in his arms, his eyes still red and burning.
"Junjun, do you still remember your father..." He chuckled self-deprecatingly, touching his son's little hand, where there was an IV catheter.
This is the first time he has felt heartache since his child fell ill.
I really regret it; he should have taken care of the children sooner.
"Does it hurt?" he asked softly.
Junjun shook his head, "It doesn't hurt now, but it hurt a little when I got the injection."
Su Yunfan praised, "Junjun is the bravest. Once you're better, Dad will take you out to play."
Seeing this scene, Mr. Qin felt a pang of sadness.
If only I had known then what I know now.
"Mr. Su, we brought Junjun to see your father. Please make the arrangements as soon as possible. Junjun is still undergoing chemotherapy and it's not convenient for him to move around much."
Mr. Qin interrupted their father-son reunion with a somewhat cold reminder.
Su Yunfan stood up, looked at them, and composed himself. "Okay, I'll help Junjun change his clothes and then we can go in."
Before Mr. Qin arrived, he inquired about the ward where Su Daqiang was hospitalized and also contacted the leaders there.
They had no relation to the Su family and there was no need for them to go to the bedside, but they were also worried about leaving the child alone with Su Yunfan—even though he was right in front of them.
Therefore, Mr. Qin arranged for medical staff to accompany him throughout the process.
