HP: Wormwood and Lightning Wood

Chapter 102 Unexpected Events

"Harry Potter".

Voldemort sighed softly. He put on the robe Bella handed him, the black fabric covering his pale, corpse-like body.

Bella and Rodolphus knelt on the ground, kissing the hem of Voldemort's robes. "Master, we've waited so long for this moment! Welcome back..."

"Thank you for your hard work, Bella, Rodolphus." Voldemort looked satisfied, helped Bella up, and examined her bloodied arm.

Voldemort then raised his wand, and a healing spell was cast on Bella's arm, quickly stopping the bleeding and healing the wound.

Ignoring Bella's tearful gratitude, Voldemort then moved his wand to her Dark Mark.

The snake that emerged from the skull's mouth seemed to come alive, its color becoming even darker.

Voldemort wore a smug expression and muttered, "Very well, let me see who has the guts to come back, and who is foolish enough not to."

He paced across the grass, came up to Harry, his red eyes gleaming, "Look, Harry Potter..."

Voldemort paused. The surroundings were so quiet you couldn't even hear the wind. He turned to the Lestranges, staring at them. "Where's Nagini?"

The Lestranges looked at each other and shook their heads.

"Who are you looking for? The snake?"

A voice came from the grove of cedar trees. West emerged from the shadows, a serene smile on his face.

Voldemort fell silent, his eyes appearing even redder: "What did you do to her?"

As West's body emerged completely from the shadows of the cedar forest, Harry could see the sword in his hand.

It was a sword made of pure silver, with a ruby set in the hilt and the name Godric Gryffindor engraved on the blade.

Harry knew this sword very well because he had used it to kill the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets when he was in his second year.

"I merely severed its head, didn't you realize that?" West laughed, his words carrying a hidden meaning.

He gave Harry a look, and Harry stood up, the binding spells on his body already quietly removed.

"How dare you speak to the great Master Voldemort like that!" Bella raised her eyebrows, her once beautiful face now contorted with malice. She raised her wand.

Voldemort raised his hand. "Bellatrix, stop." His gaze remained fixed on West, his expression calm.

"Westport? You're a Slytherin student?" Voldemort sized up Westport's clothes. "I never imagined Slytherin could wield the sword of Gryffindor."

He squinted. "What are you wearing on your hand? Hmm, let me think... Somerset's ring, isn't it?"

West's nerves tightened; the sound of the wind amplified in his ears, making his brain buzz. "How did you know?"

Voldemort did not answer: "What are you trying to do? Are you trying to rescue your dear brother? You can't escape. I've already summoned my men."

"Perhaps I should reward that Malfoy boy properly. His name is Draco, isn't it? I didn't expect him to actually send you here." Voldemort squinted.

West, his face cold, beckoned with his fingers hidden behind his back.

The next second, a bullet pierced Rodolphs' chest. His eyes widened, and he fell to the ground, lifeless.

After Rodolphus fell, Voldemort's back was revealed. In a flash, a second bullet was about to pierce Voldemort's chest when Bella rushed over and took the bullet for him.

Voldemort reacted quickly, shouting "Protect Me!" An invisible barrier formed around him, deflecting the other bullets one by one.

The Death Eaters still hadn't shown up. Voldemort realized they were probably held back by the Somerset's forces.

West sighed regretfully. Muggle firearms could only create a surprise attack, but against a wizard of Voldemort's caliber, once he reacted, there was almost no chance of success.

No problem, wizards have their own solutions.

Voldemort's expression was fierce, veins bulging beneath his ashen skin. "How dare you provoke the Dark Lord with such lowly Muggle tactics?"

He cast a killing spell in the direction the bullet came from, but unfortunately Caspard had already retreated immediately after the defeat, and the killing spell missed him.

"So-called Muggle methods have already killed two of your most trusted subordinates," West whispered, raising his wand to Voldemort. "Crunch in the Heart."

Voldemort twisted his body, narrowly dodging the Cruciatus Curse, but was pinned to the spot by the next instant-cast curse.

A chill suddenly rose from Voldemort's feet, and a stiffening sensation spread throughout his body. He was frozen in place, unable to move.

"What did you just say?" West approached, his face grim. "How do you know the Somerset family crest?"

"Why don't you tell me first how you were resurrected, West Somerset?" Voldemort asked through gritted teeth.

West stared fearlessly into Voldemort's eyes. "You investigated me?"

"Listen, we can absolutely work together. With my help, and the inherent strength of Somerset, controlling Europe will be a natural progression. What do you say?" Voldemort coaxed. "You get power, I get immortality, isn't that good?"

Harry couldn't help but mutter a curse under his breath, "Don't listen to him, West!"

West was silent for a moment, then suddenly sneered, "Voldemort, you are far too arrogant. What makes you think everyone is like you, only craving immortality and power?"

With a flick of his wand, Voldemort's knee cracked, causing him to groan in pain and fall to his knees.

West looked down at him. "But I'd be happy to satisfy your curiosity."

"I was able to be resurrected because of love—my mother's love, which awakened the family magic and gave me a chance to be reborn."

"You were defeated by Harry back then because of the blood magic that flows in Harry's blood."

"Voldemort, the love you always scorned gave me new life and brought you down. You will never succeed—because no one has ever truly loved you."

Voldemort's eyes widened in fury. "This is impossible. I just—I always lack a bit of luck."

He suddenly grinned, a strange smile spreading across his face. "However, I seized the opportunity... I hate you, but I also thank you... Somerset..."

"Kill him," Harry couldn't help but say. "Go ahead, West."

West knew Voldemort wouldn't say anything more.

He raised his eyes, his lips parted slightly, and uttered, "Avada Kedavra."

Voldemort was struck by the green light that was inches away. His twisted smile froze on his face, his body twitched twice, and his red eyes gradually lost their light.

His head, devoid of life support, drooped limply.

Voldemort died just like that, on the very day he was resurrected.

West said, "Come on, pick up your wand and the Triwizard Cup, let's go back."

Harry's face was blank and vacant as he mechanically nodded.

He seemed unable to believe that Voldemort, the nightmare that haunted him and whom countless wizards dared not call by name, had died so quickly and so fragilely.

But soon, the bewilderment on Harry's face was replaced by terror.

He whirled around, "My wand... my wand! It's gone!"

Before he could finish speaking, Harry saw a green light shoot out from the pine forest behind West.

The green light struck West in the back.
