Wu Liuyi didn't reply immediately. He stopped correcting Xu Sanduo's movements, frowned, and remained silent for a moment. Clearly suppressing his anger and filled with frustration and helplessness, he retorted, "The whole company knows I have a fellow villager like you, and you're only finding out now?"

Xu Sanduo grinned, showing his big white teeth: "I'm from Xia Rongshu Township, we're from the same hometown."

Wu Liuyi frowned and asked in a deep voice, "Did Cheng Cai teach you to say that?"

Xu Sanduo still grinned, showing his big white teeth. "Squad leader, no, I..."

"Alright, if you're not smart, don't try to imitate others."

Wu Liu's face flushed red as he continued sternly, "I don't care what others say, but from now on, you're not allowed to speak your hometown dialect in front of me, do you hear me?"

Seeing this scene, Zhang Anbang felt it was much more interesting than watching TV back then, and he couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Who's there?" Frustrated, Wu Liuyi glared and looked in the direction from which the laughter came.

Under the shade of a tree, a figure with a three-star rating was squatting, a cigarette between his fingers, watching this side, his twitching lips showing that he was trying his best to suppress a smile.

"Xu Sanduo, go back and tidy up your blankets first." Wu Liuyi, as if seeing a savior, told Xu Sanduo to go back first.

"Deputy Company Commander, it's not fair of you to just squat here and watch me make a fool of myself." Wu Liuyi muttered, then reached into Zhang Anbang's pocket and lit a cigarette for himself.

"Hey, isn't that your fellow villager? You'll have to be more understanding." Zhang Anbang chuckled as he looked at Wu Liuyi's troubled expression. There weren't many in the Steel Seventh Company who could make Wu Liuyi suffer.

"Fellow villager? You really are my good fellow villager, Deputy Company Commander. Why do you have to bring up something I don't want to talk about? You might as well just kill me." Wu Liuyi jumped up.

"It's nothing, it's nothing. When basic training is over, just give them a good talking-to. If anyone asks, just tell them that their squad leader from basic training died." Zhang Anbang was always eager to stir things up.

"Hey, Deputy Company Commander, you're an expert. You don't need to tell me, I would have already given them instructions. I need to give them proper instructions, otherwise how will I, Wu Liuyi, survive in 702?" Wu Liuyi stubbed out his cigarette and said resentfully.

Time passed day after day, just like that for the new recruits.

The first month of basic training passed quickly.

For a month, the training consisted of studying the regulations and rules, and daily, unwavering, housekeeping. The rest of the time was spent on basic training such as drills, military posture, and turning on the spot.

A small amount of physical training was interspersed throughout, but the amount of physical training in the recruit company was not large, and it was a gradual adaptation physical training.

Training should be gradual. The initial month of adaptation is for the purpose of extensive physical training and individual combat skills training in the following two months.

When Zhang Anbang had nothing to do, he glanced at his stupid system and found that there were basically no changes in his physical attributes.

His training volume is limited now, so he only has time to digest his food with Wu Liuyi when he has free time. However, his points in all aspects are already above 80% of the maximum value, so ordinary training has little effect.

The only change is that the progress bar below, which has an unclear purpose, has changed from 1% to 2%, and I don't know what its purpose is.

……

Finally, something caught the recruits' eye on the training field.

"You should all know what this gun I'm holding is called, right?"

On the training ground, squad leader Wu Liuyi, holding a rifle, asked the people of the fifth squad a question.

Wu Liuyi's eyes flickered, but he didn't stare at anyone. The people in Class 5 were really worlds apart.

After a month of training, Cheng Cai won the approval of all the new recruits in the fifth squad with his excellent qualities in all aspects, and was naturally selected as the deputy squad leader.

But Wu Liuyi just couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about him. The company commander had told him to keep an eye on promising talents, and Cheng Cai was a promising talent in every way, but Wu Liuyi had a very strange feeling about him.

"Report, report, squad leader, is that an Type 81 rifle?"

"Report, Type 81-1 rifle."

No one expected that Xu Sanduo would be the first to speak.

The voice that followed was Cheng Cai's.

During the month of training, Xu Sanduo's performance was still appalling, but his attitude improved slightly. With the encouragement of Zhang Anbang and Shi Jin, he began to perform better in his strengths, such as running and memory.

Although Cheng Cai spoke with certainty, he was a second or two slower than Xu Sanduo in speaking. At that moment, he was looking at Xu Sanduo with an inscrutable gaze.

Wu Liuyi's eyes were also filled with a strange meaning. This fellow villager whom he looked down on was the first to answer, although he disliked the ambiguous tone of his answer.

However, since Xu Sanduo answered correctly, Wu Liuyi praised him, after all, Shi Jin and Zhang Anbang had been telling him to praise him appropriately at the right time.

"Hmm, Xu Sanduo answered well. It seems you've been reading military books quite a bit lately. Next time, you can be more assertive. If you know the answer, don't hesitate so much. It's good to become a talent."

Although Wu Liuyi's tone was stiff, Xu Sanduo still grinned. This was the first time he had been praised by Wu Liuyi since joining the recruit company.

He then turned to the fifth squad and said, "That's right, this is the most commonly used firearm in our unit, the Type 81-1 automatic rifle, also known as the August 1st rifle."

The gun is chambered in 7.62×39mm ammunition and is compatible with Type 56 ammunition, making logistical support very convenient.

The overall length of the gun is 1100mm, the length with the stock folded is 750mm, the weight of the gun is 3,5KG when unloaded, and 3.9KG with the magazine.

The magazine has a capacity of 30 rounds and is detachable. This magazine is compatible with the Type 81 squad automatic weapon magazine.

Effective range: 400m for a single target, and can cover targets 500m away when firing in a volley.

The gun has three firing modes: single shot, automatic fire, and safe. The theoretical rate of fire is 600 rounds per minute, and the combat rate of fire is 40 rounds per minute in single shot and 100 rounds per minute in automatic fire.

This rifle is a standard individual weapon that was finalized in my country in 1981 and officially put into service in 1983. It features a folding metal stock and is the core model of the Type 81 rifle family. Other models include the Type 81 fixed-stock automatic rifle and the Type 81 squad automatic machine gun.

The stock is made of stamped metal and folds to the right to fit snugly against the right side of the receiver, significantly shortening the overall length of the rifle and making it suitable for scenarios such as armored infantry fighting in vehicles and maneuvering in confined spaces.

It adopts a short-stroke piston-guided air structure, and the air guide ring is equipped with an air regulator (with three settings: large, small, and closed) to adjust the air intake according to the environment. In sandy/muddy environments, the large setting is used to ensure reliability, while the small setting is used for regular training to reduce recoil and improve accuracy.

The casing is made of stamped steel plate and welded together. The process is simple and the cost is low, making it suitable for mass production.

The sights consist of a post front sight and a notch rear sight, with an adjustable rear sight (range 100-500m). The sight baseline is long, and the shooting accuracy is superior to that of the Type 56 assault rifle.

Equipped with a detachable sword-shaped bayonet, which can also be used as a dagger or wire cutters, making it highly practical.

In border operations in southern Xinjiang, high-altitude exercises, and tropical jungle training, the Type 81-1 rifle demonstrated exceptional environmental adaptability, remaining operational even after being exposed to sandstorms and muddy water. Soldiers widely regarded it as a robust and durable battlefield partner.

Wu Liuyi gave a detailed account of the various aspects of the Type 81 rifle, leaving the new recruits somewhat bewildered. They hadn't expected there to be so many intricacies involved in such a simple weapon.

"Alright, you'll need to memorize these data and knowledge points later by looking them up in your military textbooks. There will be tests. But today on the parade ground, we're going to talk about the disassembly and assembly of the August 1st bar."

"A master has just arrived. I'll ask him to demonstrate for you, so you can see what a master is like. I'll teach you separately later."

The new recruits in the fifth platoon were wondering who the expert their platoon leader had mentioned was. They had been in the recruit training camp for a month, and all the new recruits in each platoon had heard their platoon leaders say that Wu Liuyi was very powerful, the number one expert in the Steel Seventh Company. Who else could it be that even he called an expert?

"Hehe, Deputy Company Commander, we're just explaining how to disassemble the 81-class scaffold, why don't you demonstrate it for me?" Wu Liuyi said with a grin, stopping the approaching 1-class scaffold three-star scaffold.
