Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 72 Yu Meng and Hua San Niang's Reunion

Yu's parents watched Dali; their vibrant young woman had returned. How wonderful!

"Xiao Si, your sister just got out of the hospital and is all better now. Shouldn't we have an explanation for this?" Yu's father frowned as he looked at Yu Meng.

Yu Meng nodded, "My eldest sister can't appear in public for a while."

"Won't we find out when that Zhao kid who's driving comes back?" Aunt Yu asked nervously.

Yu Meng shook her head. "He won't tell. The key is Jiang Mingfeng. You guys decide what to say. He knows my sister is back, so he'll definitely come to our house."

"Xiao Si, are you a little upset with him?" Aunt Yu asked cautiously.

"No. It's not like he could have stopped it. He looks like a broken doll; he's quite pathetic."

"That's good. When you said those things about him at the hospital, I thought you were blaming him for everything." Aunt Yu finally smiled.

Dali chimed in, "During the busiest time, a woman handed me a teacup. I was thirsty, so I took a sip, and then I felt dizzy. As for how I got to that room, I don't know."

"Ah, someone put drugs in your water," Mr. Yu said with certainty. "Once, when we went up the mountain, an old hunter hid some powder in a piece of meat, and even such a large wild animal was drugged and knocked out."

"When you're out and about, never touch anything that a stranger offers you," Aunt Yu instructed Dali. Then she looked up at Yu Meng, "Xiao Si, you need to remember these things too."

The two sisters nodded obediently. "This is the first time we've encountered something like this, so of course we won't make the same mistake again," Dali replied.

A black sedan drove from the opposite direction and stopped when it was about three meters away from their car.

Yu Meng looked up out of the car window. A familiar person walked over. Yu Meng pursed her lips but didn't say anything.

The person walked up to their car door and knocked on the window.

Mr. Yu opened the passenger door. "Who are you? What do you want?"

"My surname is Hua. I should know the little girl sitting in the back."

Yu Meng didn't get out of the car, but looked at her from the back seat. "You came to see me?"

Hua San Niang nodded with a smile. "That's right, I came here specifically to find you. Why don't you get out of the carriage, and we can have a chat."

Yu Meng nodded, and her mother grabbed her, "Is there something you can't say here?"

Hua San Niang outside the carriage didn't say a word, but just smiled as she looked at Yu Meng.

"Mom, it's okay, we know each other," Yu Meng comforted her mother, patting her hand.

"I really know him."

Dali suddenly spoke up from the side. "Isn't that the old lady who sells baskets and winnowing trays at the morning market?"

"Oh, young lady, you still recognize me? I need to talk to your little sister about something. Don't worry, I mean no harm."

Dali looked at Yu Meng.

Yu Meng frowned. "Okay, I'll get out of the car. Let's talk over there."

Hua San Niang did not return to the carriage she was in, but instead walked diagonally towards the back of Yu Meng's carriage.

Yu Meng followed silently. "Young lady, let me formally introduce myself. I am Hua San Niang. People in the circle call me Granny Hua."

"That day, you were the ones who led that Zhou family member there," Yu Meng asked directly, without mincing words.

"Young lady, you're very perceptive. We did do what happened that day, but not me, it was that old charlatan."

Yu Meng frowned. "How did you know I could solve your problem?"

"That's what the old fortune teller calculated. He said you're the only person we've found in all these years who's destined to be with us."

Yu Meng just stared at her, waiting for her to continue.

Hua San Niang smiled. "These things aren't urgent; we'll cross paths again in the future. The most important thing right now is your sister's matter."

Yu Meng looked at her warily. "What are you planning to do now?"

"Young lady, given your family's current social standing, it will be difficult to keep this a secret. And once people find out, you should know what the consequences will be."

"You are threatening me."

"No. Young lady, you don't need to be so hostile towards me. I'm here to talk to you with the utmost sincerity." Hua San Niang spoke in a tone that suggested she was doing everything for her own good.

"What do I have to give in return?" Yu Meng asked calmly, her words completely out of character for her age.

"The old charlatan was right after all. Your reaction is really not that of a young girl." Hua San Niang still smiled broadly. "I'm very satisfied with your current reaction."

Yu Meng stood there quietly watching.

"Oh, young lady, let's get down to business. Your driver should be back soon," Hua San Niang said in a low voice, taking a step forward. "You can try to pin your sister's sobriety on us."

Yu Meng narrowed her eyes slightly. "What do you mean?"

Hua San Niang laughed. "Just say you ran into Granny Hua from the morning market, and she was in a good mood, so she helped you."

Yu Meng looked directly at her. "Is it really okay to say that?"

"Why don't you give it a try and see if there will be any trouble later?"

Yu Meng nodded after a moment's thought. "I solved your crisis last time, and you helped me this time, so we're even."

Hua San Niang's smile suddenly faltered. "Little girl, don't talk nonsense. There was no crisis last time!"

"Is that so? If that's how you put it, there's nothing I can do. Anyway, from my perspective, we're even."

Hua San Niang muttered under her breath, "She's really not cute at all."

Yu Meng looked at Hua San Niang earnestly. "I just want to live happily and don't want to get involved in anything. I don't have any particular plans. So if you want me to do anything, please don't ask."

Hua San Niang couldn't help but ask, "How did you know we'd ask you to do something?"

"Do you think a free lunch will fall from the sky? Do you think I chased you all this way just to talk to you about pointless nonsense?" Yu Meng's question went straight to the heart.

"Sigh, it seems I really am getting old. I've lost the straightforwardness of youth, and the drive to take risks. I'm timid and hesitant in everything I do, and I don't even dare to say what my purpose is." Hua San Niang chuckled self-deprecatingly.

"My driver is back. If you have something to say but don't just say it directly, then we shouldn't see each other anymore. And don't let that charlatan in your family predict my affairs again. I heard that if too many heavenly secrets are revealed, he will suffer a backlash." Yu Meng lifted her foot to walk back.

Hua San Niang stepped forward and stopped Yu Meng again. "You may not believe what I'm saying, but these are all the facts. I'm going to die. But without a leader, many things will get out of control in this vast empire I've built. The fortune teller predicted that we are destined to be together, so I want to give you everything I have. I only have one request: that everyone who works for you, and others, be able to eat their fill and live a good life."

Yu Meng glanced at her. "Not interested. I'm still a child, I can't concern myself with so many things."

After saying that, he left without looking back, got into his car, and closed the door in one smooth motion.
