Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 67 Demanding Benefits

When Yu Meng opened her small shop in town, she didn't hire too many people. She simply gathered some familiar faces together, had a meal at a restaurant, and set off a string of firecrackers, and that was it for the opening.

Yu Meng placed the crystal ball she made on the first floor near a window.

On the opening day, everyone was stunned when they saw the crystal ball.

It was simply a dreamlike world. As people quietly approached the crystal ball, a slight chill could be felt from it.

Dali and Jiang Mingfeng helped greet the guests. Even Mayor Jiang and his wife came. Dali led her mother-in-law and mother upstairs and let them sit there and chat. She also told them that she and Jiang Mingfeng were going to the city the next day.

Madam Jiang was very fond of Dali. And so, one praised her daughter-in-law, and the other spoke highly of the capable young woman; surprisingly, the two got along very well.

Because the former town mayor came to offer his congratulations, anyone with a discerning eye would know that this was a restaurant owned by a relative of the mayor. No troublemakers came.

Dali's mother-in-law took a fancy to a bracelet, and Yu Meng gave it to her as a gift. She was so happy that she told everyone she met that her daughter-in-law's younger sister was a good person who could get things done.

The next morning, Dali and Jiang Mingfeng set off. They planned to stay for three days.

"I wonder what's gotten into her so urgently these days?" Yu Ma muttered.

Yu Meng fiddled with the half-finished product in her hands. "My older sister is going to give a lecture in the city, and my brother-in-law is accompanying her."

Aunt Yu was so shocked she stood up. "Giving a lecture? Can your older sister give a lecture? What could she possibly talk about? That brat, she didn't even tell me or your dad about something this big."

Yu Meng smiled and said, "Of course my eldest sister can teach. She even gave a lesson that time in town."

"How come I didn't know about this? Are you hiding something from me?"

"I didn't hide it from you. Do you remember the last time a lecturer came to town to give a big lecture? I went too."

Aunt Yu nodded. She knew about this.

"That was the time, after the lecturer finished his class and left, my eldest sister went up on stage and gave a lecture as well. Mom, you'll see later that my eldest sister is incredibly popular in town."

"Your older sister really has that kind of ability. Don't lie to me. She's my own daughter, how could I not know her capabilities?"

"Don't they say girls change a lot as they grow up? Your older sister has become amazing, and you're not happy?" Yu Meng said with a grin.

"Is that how you use that phrase? I feel like you've used it in the wrong place," Aunt Yu said, frowning.

"As long as something changes, this phrase is always correct. 'Eighteen changes,' you know which one she changed into?" Yu Meng explained earnestly.

In the city.

Dali looked at the auditorium before her, and at the people sitting below. She had a vague feeling of disorientation. "Mingfeng, didn't my cousin say there would only be a few people? What does this mean?"

Jiang Mingfeng was completely bewildered by the situation. "My cousin only said he had everything arranged and that you could just talk. I have no idea what's going on."

"With so many people, I'm a little afraid to go on stage, what should I do?" Dali's palms were sweaty. "If I don't speak well or say something wrong, I'll really lose face in the whole city."

Li Yiqing walked over and overheard Dali's words. "Dali, don't be nervous. I didn't expect that when they heard you were going to give a lecture like this, everyone wanted to come, and I couldn't refuse them. There are a lot of people, but just treat them like stones or blades of grass. Just focus on giving your lecture and don't worry about them."

"Cousin, I wanted to treat them like rocks and clods of dirt, but look at those bright eyes, how could I not see them?"

Jiang Mingfeng chimed in from the side, "I feel like their eyes are all green with envy, as if they want to devour my wife."

Li Yiqing was also helpless. No one expected that the old man would arrange the class in such a large auditorium, and it was packed with people. In his words, whether Dali was lecturing or a group of people were listening, it was all the same; this resource was scarce, and they couldn't let it go to waste.

What's even more infuriating is that my own grandfather not only fully supports it, but is also happy to make it happen.

"Dali, I heard that you interacted very well with the people when you were giving lectures in town. Just teach the same way you did that time," Li Yiqing advised earnestly.

"How can that be the same? Those people are people I fought alongside." Dali rolled her eyes. "If it were my little sister, and you went back on your word like that, she would definitely quit and leave."

Li Yiqing awkwardly touched his nose. He kicked Jiang Mingfeng with his foot and gestured with his eyes, "Go and talk to your wife."

Jiang Mingfeng's eyes widened. "You made this decision on your own. How could I advise you against it? If you had explained the situation when we came, Dali and I might not have come."

Li Yiqing was so angry he wanted to punch someone. Jiang Mingfeng was prioritizing his wife over his brothers.

"Well, the old man who organized this said that you won't let Dali work for nothing," Li Yiqing whispered in Jiang Mingfeng's ear.

Jiang Mingfeng tilted his head and looked at him. Li Yiqing was so angry he wanted to kick him. "He said it was for your little sister's shop, and he even contributed money, without asking for any payment."

Jiang Mingfeng rolled his eyes. "That's for my little sister, not for Dali."

"Isn't your wife most concerned about her younger sister? Giving money to her younger sister is the same as giving money to your wife," Li Yiqing tried to brush it off.

"Her younger sister is not short of money." Jiang Mingfeng's stubbornness completely angered Li Yiqing.

He pushed Jiang Mingfeng aside, walked up to Dali, and was about to speak.

Dali rushed over and helped Jiang Mingfeng up. "What did you say? Why did you hit him?"

"Honey, my cousin is bullying me." Jiang Mingfeng found an opportunity to complain to Dali with a straight face. At the same time, he looked at Li Yiqing provocatively.

Li Yiqing was so angry this time that he was itching to bite her.

"Dali, time's almost up. You can't make things difficult for your brother."

Dali was completely bewildered. "How can this be my fault?"

Jiang Mingfeng chimed in from the side, "Cousin, you're really unfair. You've shifted the blame onto me, and I can't take it anymore."

"Jiang Mingfeng, shut up." Li Yiqing finally abandoned his elegance. "Sister-in-law, I misspoke just now. Why don't you stay here and watch for a while? Maybe you'll get used to it after a while."

Dali and Jiang Mingfeng were dumbfounded; how could this possibly work?

"Cousin, I heard you bought some new weapons when you were working at the mining group. You don't need them anymore, so give them to me," Jiang Mingfeng whispered from the side.

Li Yiqing narrowed his eyes slightly. "You have quite an appetite, aren't you afraid of overeating?"

"Sigh, that's the culmination of my cousin's three years of hard work. I can't let it fall apart in my hands, can I?"

Dali, who was listening nearby, understood. When did her Mingfeng become so clever? Was he blatantly asking his cousin for favors?

"Giving it to you isn't out of the question," Li Yiqing said slowly. "Can you guarantee that Dali's lecture will proceed smoothly?"

"Of course. I know my own wife well enough. As long as I give her a little encouragement, she'll definitely be able to do it," Jiang Mingfeng said confidently.
