Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 385 The Gu Insects Reappear

Watching Niannian run away with her head down, Yu Meng frowned. "Did I say anything? Why did she run away crying?"

After thinking for a moment, she followed behind Niannian, but did not catch up with her.

Niannian ran ahead with her head down, not looking in any particular direction. She kept running like that until she reached a deserted area in the suburbs.

Yu Meng followed at a distance, but Nian Nian didn't turn around and therefore didn't notice Yu Meng following her.

Niannian found a big tree, and in a few swift movements, she climbed up to the middle of the tree and hid among the leaves.

Yu Meng came to the tree and was both amused and annoyed by her behavior. Was this what running away from home meant?

An hour later, Niannian was still sitting on the tree without moving, and Yu Meng couldn't help but sigh again.

"I've been here with you, enjoying the cool breeze all afternoon, aren't you coming down?"

The voice from the tree was muffled. "I'm not coming down."

"It's almost dark, aren't you hungry?"

"I won't go down even if I'm hungry."

"Oh, is that so? Let me guess, are your eyes so sore from crying that you can't show them to anyone?"

"Who cried? I didn't." Niannian's mouth was still stubborn.

"Oh, my poor stomach, it's already growling."

Niannian, who was in the tree, stopped crying when she saw Yu Meng standing under the tree.

But the emotions in her heart had not yet subsided, so she did not move. Unexpectedly, Yu Meng actually stayed with her silently under the tree for the whole afternoon.

Yu Meng said she was hungry. Niannian stood up and jumped down from the tree.

"I only came down because of my belly."

"Aren't you hungry?" Yu Meng didn't appreciate her kindness.

"I can endure being hungry."

Nian Nian followed Yu Meng's side, slowly walking back the way they came.

Yu Meng didn't ask Niannian why she ran away crying, and Niannian didn't explain either. This little incident remained unresolved for both of them.

They returned safely to the clubhouse. Secretary Wu had been pacing anxiously around the main entrance several times, and even the lame man was standing outside the gatehouse.

"Teacher Yu, you're finally back!" Secretary Wu hurriedly greeted them upon seeing them.

"What's wrong?"

"What happened?"

Yu Meng and Niannian spoke at the same time.

"This is serious. Zhou Jingyan has been brought back."

"Give it to me?" Yu Meng asked again in surprise.

Secretary Wu nodded.

The lame man beside him then spoke up, "You have to save him."

Yu Meng glanced back and then nodded.

"Where is he?"

"They're in Qianchuan. They've used all the best medicines and elixirs, but the person still hasn't woken up."

The three of them turned a corner and headed straight for Qian Chuan's hospital room.

On a chair outside the ward sat Nangong Tianshou, with Xiao Hao nestled in his arms, his eyes red from crying.

When they came in, he just looked up at them without saying a word and sat there quietly.

Secretary Wu and Niannian stayed outside the door, while Yu Meng pushed the door open and went directly into the ward.

"Auntie." Xiao Hao turned and threw himself into Niannian's arms. "Daddy will be alright, right?"

Niannian hugged the thin Xiaohao, "It'll be alright, I'm going inside."

I don't know what happened? Niannian remembered how her parents were sent back; they were just two boxes.

She still remembers how she felt back then. She thought her parents were so tall and big, how could two small boxes possibly contain them?

Just one day later, she knew that her and her sister's world had collapsed. From that day on, everyone spoke to them with extreme caution and politeness. It was a feeling she couldn't quite describe.

She still remembers that when Sister Xiu hugged her, she didn't cry, but she just held her tightly.

When her older sister was about to leave with the Yu siblings, she felt like the whole world had abandoned her.

Fortunately, her fourth sister took her along and didn't abandon her. She was very grateful.

She hugged Xiao Hao tightly, patting his back. "Why don't you take a nap? Maybe Dad will feel better when you wake up."

"Auntie, I'm not sleepy. Third Grandpa said that as long as we sit here, Dad will definitely wake up."

"Then I'll stay with you."

Secretary Wu pressed his ear against the door, but the room was completely quiet; not a sound came out.

He spun around twice, then sat down next to Nangong Tianshou. "Teacher Yu can create miracles; you have to believe in her."

"Um."

In the ward, Yu Meng finally saw Zhou Jingyan, his tall figure lying quietly on the small bed.

Qingyuan and Qianchuan were busy around him.

"Yu Meng, you're here." Qingyuan saw Yu Meng and pulled her to the bedside. "The bleeding has stopped, and I've checked her brain; there's no abnormality. But she still hasn't woken up?"

"Don't rush, let me take a look." Yu Meng patted Qingyuan's hand.

There were indeed no aliens in the brain, and the wounds on the body were treated well and all bandaged.

Yu Meng's right eye twitched, and Zhou Jingyan's entire body seemed to be penetrated by infrared rays. Small black dots appeared simultaneously in his bones and near his heart. There were as many as ten of them.

After a long while, Yu Meng closed her eyes. After a while, she opened her eyes and looked at Qing Yuan. "Aunt Qing, it's a Gu worm."

Qingyuan staggered. "How could he have attracted something like this? Is there any way to save him?"

"I'll do my best, but whether it works out or not depends on fate." Yu Meng didn't make any grand promises about whether she could do it.

"Yu Meng, please save him, otherwise the old man and the child outside might not be able to bear it." Qingyuan's tears fell.

"I... I don't know what to say. I didn't force you. Just do your best. Yes, just do your best."

"Aunt Qing, I need to arrange some things. I'll come to treat him in an hour."

"Okay, okay, go ahead, I'll wait for you here." Qingyuan let go of Yu Meng's hand and pushed her out.

When Yu Meng opened the door and came out, everyone looked at her.

"Uncle Wu, I have some things I need you to do." He then looked at Nangong Tianshou, "If you can hold on, you can stay with Uncle Wu."

"Can he wake up?" Nangong Tianshou asked.

"I don't know either. This is the first time I've encountered something like this, so I can't give you any guarantees."

"Fourth Sister?"

"Fourth Aunt".

"Niannian, take Xiaohao to eat and sleep."

"Oh, okay," Niannian replied.

"Fourth Aunt, I want to wait for Dad here."

"Your health isn't good, you can't stay up late. If you get sick, who will take care of your father when he wakes up?"

"Fourth Aunt, is it really possible for my dad to wake up?" Xiao Hao immediately grasped the key point.

"You'll know when you wake up," Yu Meng said vaguely.

Nangong Tianshou spoke up from the side, "Xiao Hao, go to sleep. Your third grandfather is here."

"Then, I'll take a short nap. You can wake me up when it's time." Xiao Hao stared at Nangong Tianshou, wanting a definite answer.

"Xiao Hao, your aunt will call you then." Niannian held his little hand from the side.

Xiao Hao followed Nian Nian, turning back to look at her every step of the way.
