Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 37 Dali has made herself happy.

Dali was dumbfounded. If Yu Meng didn't teach her, she would be completely helpless.

Dali looked at her father with a puzzled expression. "Dad?"

Mr. Yu was also helpless; you can never guess what his youngest daughter is thinking. Since she said she wouldn't teach, she definitely wouldn't teach Dali.

Looking at Dali, whose energy had been completely drained in the blink of an eye, the mother subconsciously glanced at Yu Meng. All she said was "I won't teach," how could it be so serious?

Dali stood up. "Dad, Mom, I'm going to lie down for a while. I didn't sleep well last night."

Yu Meng remained seated on the small stool, stroking the large black cat at her feet.

Yu's father sighed; he still had to go out to work.

Only Mom and Yu Meng were left at home. Mom came into the yard. "Xiao Si, I didn't ask you to promise me anything just now, I just..."

"Mom, you're right, I don't blame you. I didn't think much about it; I agreed as soon as my sister asked. Now that I think about it, it was indeed very dangerous. Don't worry, I won't teach my older sister anything. I always keep my word."

Yu Meng said so much in one go; this was unprecedented.

Mom glanced at Yu Meng and said, "If your older sister insists on learning, you can teach her, and I won't blame you."

Yu Meng looked at her mother and shook her head, "I won't teach her."

She doesn't trust a mother, because as a mother, she has countless reasons to back out. She doesn't want everyone to say, "If only we had done this or that..." and then she'd be speechless. She doesn't want to wrong herself.

Now that she doesn't teach her eldest sister, perhaps only her eldest sister will resent her. Even if she hates her, it doesn't matter; she's grown up now.

No one ever knew the obsession Yu Meng had with living past the age of 10.

When Yu Meng firmly said she wouldn't teach him, her mother secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She wasn't a mask revealer, and she had lived a good life; her children were filial, her family was harmonious, and her husband was kind and caring.

She thought that Dali might just be having trouble adjusting right now, and that she would get over it after a while.

Having received Yu Meng's affirmative answer, her mother also went out to work. Life was oppressive. Here, no parent is idle at home; even those in their fifties and sixties go out to work to earn a little money for the family.

Dali didn't sleep at all after returning to her room. She couldn't understand why something that was supposed to be a good thing had ended up like this.

One sentence from her mother made the younger sister change her mind. The younger sister's temper was just like her mother's; she was stubborn.

Dali stared at the book, wishing she could devour it whole. A voice seemed to urge her on, filling her with an irresistible greed for the book.

Yu Meng stared at Dali's door, and finally walked over and pushed it open.

Dali was lost in thought, holding that book. When she saw Yu Meng come in, she quickly put the book down.

"Don't worry, little sister, I won't force you. But why are the lines in this book getting more and more intense? I think I'm losing control of myself."

Yu Meng walked over and sat down on the kang (a heated brick bed). "That's how it is."

"What should I do now?" Dali looked at Yu Meng. "Little sister, you can't really abandon your big sister."

"How many lines do you still have in your mind right now?"

"Didn't my little sister say last time that you have to have lines in your mind, otherwise you'll feel uncomfortable? That's why I kept 5 lines," Dali quickly said.

Yu Meng kept her head down and didn't speak. Dali gently called out, "Little sister, don't be angry with Mom. When you were unconscious, Mom stayed by your side and cried the whole time. She's easily frightened."

Yu Meng nodded, "I know."

"Big sister won't force you to teach me these things, but you can always teach me other things, right?" Dali said, holding Yu Meng's small hand.

"The lines in your mind are the mask-remover's weapon," Yu Meng began slowly. "You can use them to assist your fingers in peeling away the masks of creatures. You can also use them as ropes to weave backpacks." She paused for a while before continuing, "You can also turn them into sharp weapons to kill creatures. You can also use them as ropes to drag things. These are all directions you can practice."

Dali listened to Yu Meng's words, her mouth slowly opening wide. "It can even kill animals. How does it do that?"

"Big sister, you can twist them together into a rope and practice dragging things first. You need to make them strong before you can do anything else."

As she spoke, Yu Meng released the two lines in her mind. Suddenly, the water glass on the table began to move. Slowly, the water glass floated into the air, as if an invisible hand was holding it and lingering there.

Dali stared blankly at the water glass floating in the air. "Little sister, I'll learn this first."

If we don't let her absorb the lines from the second book, then so be it. She knows it's dangerous. If she really falls asleep and never wakes up again, the blow to her parents would be immense.

Dali is good at comforting herself. Therefore, people like her rarely have worries. Besides, her younger sister has just taught her another reliable and practical method.

Dali shoved the book directly into Yu Meng's arms. "Big sister, I'll listen to you. This book is really too dangerous. I don't want it anymore. I want to learn this from little sister, and that skill that can kill animals."

Yu Meng looked at the book in her arms, then looked up at Dali. "You don't want it anymore?"

"Little sister, you really need to think carefully before you use this book. Why don't you just give it to me? I don't want to hurt my little sister." Dali reached out to take the book back.

Yu Meng dodged for a moment. "Leave it with me for now, otherwise you probably won't be able to resist its temptation."

"Then you must promise your older sister that you will think carefully before doing this. Although you are very smart, you are still too young. If you get hurt, it could be a lifelong problem."

Yu Meng nodded, indicating that she understood these things.

Dali rubbed her hands together excitedly and said to Meng, "Little sister, then you teach me this ability to levitate a water glass."

Yunmeng was happy for her when she saw that confident older sister had returned.

She was very generous and taught Dali everything she knew in great detail.

And I told Dali to start practicing with the smallest things, like pebbles or grains of millet. Once the lines have gained strength, then she can practice with larger things. Also, she should first find things with edges and corners, which are easier to grip, and not round things.

Dali's current abilities are mostly thanks to Yu Meng's teaching, and Dali knows she doesn't have much natural talent. Therefore, after her little sister teaches her something, she secretly practices it thousands of times.

Now that she's so successful in front of others, who knows how much sweat she's shed behind the scenes?

But she has this tenacity. Even Yu Meng admires this. Yu Meng is smart; when one path doesn't work, she won't put in the effort to solve it. She'll find another way. Therefore, the two sisters have completely different personalities.
